Chapter 11:
Loved the update. It was emotional & hearts touching from the start till the end. And someway very romantic too... 😊
I am glad that Arnav realized how wrong he was, and how wrong he has treated his son.
At the same time, I am glad that Khushi was able to calm him down. They will survive this together.
Hopefully Aryan will understand how much they both love him and is able to put his troubled past to where it belongs - in the past.
I still have a couple of more chapters to catch up and I try to do it as soon as possible.
Again a wonderful update. 👏
Part 14
Arnav entered the room to see Khushi standing near the poolside door. The poolside was shining with hundreds of fairy light. It presented such a beautiful view. She was preparing for this day for a week now. She was so excited and happy, thinking for the one she is doing all these will be here to appreciate her efforts.
Arnav closed the door with a heavy heart. He didn't came. Arnav turned back to see Khushi still standing there. Walking towards her, he coiled his arm around her waist and pulled her to his chest.
"Khushi?" he called softly, but didn't get any reply. "Khushi ..."
Before he can say anything else, she turned and threw herself in his arms.
"Khushi? Are you crying?" Arnav tried to pull her back, but she held him tight.
"He didn't came ... I thought he will ...I was so sure that ..that he will come ..." Khushi sobbed, feeling sad and disappointed.
"Khushi ...shhh... stop crying first ...I can't believe you are crying. We know how he is, how can you expect him to come? I had told you to stop all these preparation, I knew he won't come. But still you continued with all these"
Khushi stepped back and buried her face in her palm, crying. But she thought he will come. She thought her letters meant something to him. She thought she had made some progress. She thought they are coming closer. She thought she means something to him now.
"Khushi ..." He caught her arms and pulled her in a hug. "Shhh...I know you were expecting him to come ... but ..." he pulled back and cupped her face. "If you want, we can go and meet him.. do you want to go??"
Arnav stepped back from the hug, not looking at her.
"Arnav ji ..."
"I need sometime alone ...leave Khushi ..."
His voice was low, hurt and Khushi's heart clenched painfully inside her chest. She won't leave him alone. She wiped the tears that rolled down her cheek and saw Arnav ji going and sit on the bed.
She walked towards him and knelt in front of him.
"I am sorry, Arnav ji ..I am really sorry ...I ...I am just upset ..I am sorry ...please look at me ..." she pleaded.
Arnav lifted his eyes to look at her. She wasn't wrong. From days she is asking him to write something to Aryan, anything to convey him how much he is missing him. But he just can't bring himself to do that. He ... he is not missing him. He closed his and tried to swallow the painful lump that rose at the thought. Aryan has never been a part of his life. They have never lived as a family. They were living as two individuals, trying to avoid each other as much as possible. How is he to miss him when his life with or without him is the same? He never wanted Aryan to go away, he wanted to make things right between them, he wanted to make some memories with him, memories which he can cherish. But things are still same between them. How is he to miss him when he has no good memories with him, when they have never spent time together?
"But I love him ...I want him in my life .." he said aloud, lost in his ugly thoughts.
Khushi cupped his face and made him look at her. "I know ..." she dropped a assuring kiss on his forehead. "I know you love him ... but .." standing on her knees, she wrapped her hand around his tensed shoulder. "He do not ... Please understand this ...I know you love him, but he doesn't know that... You will have to make him believe , Arnav ji ...Stop holding yourself, don't do that...Stop trying to run away, and make a life without him... Please don't do that ... You should not do things because I want you to do, you should do it because you love Aryan and you want him back ..."
Arnav buried his face in her hair. "Yes... ...I love him Khushi , I really do ..." he murmured.
Khushi pulled back. "I know ... I know ...I am sorry" She held him close, whispering her love and apology again and again.
"Aryan bhai, come out, see everyone is celebrating diwali. Don't you want sweets? Come fast else it will get over. Aryan bhai!" Rehaan barged in Aryan's room, shouting in excitement.
Rehaan stopped in his track as he saw his Aryan bhai in the study area, immersed in some book, not paying a heed to what he was shouting.
"Aryan bhai!" he called again and stood beside him. "Aryan bhai, come out, everyone is celebrating Diwali."
Aryan lifted his eyes to look at Rehaan. His cute face all excited. He had done his best to avoid him, to shove him away. But like a stubborn bee, he revolves around him all the time, making it difficult to berate him. His cute face and silly talks doesn't allow him to get mad with him. With his constant nagging and following him, he has made a tiny place in his heart.
"Aryan Bhai , come..." Rehaan caught his wrist and tried to pull him.
Aryan shook his head and freed his wrist from him. "You go and enjoy, Rehaan ..I don't like all this."
"What? But Aryan Bhai, it's so much fun.." He said disbelievingly, unable to understand why anyone will want to miss the fun.
"Not for me.. Leave, Rehaan.." He turned to look back into his book.
Rehaan pouted. "No one talks to me..no one plays with me..no one ..."
"Stop!" Aryan fixed him with his glare. "Your drama won't work today. Go!"
"But Aryan Bhai ..."
"I.Said. Go!"
Rehaan pouted sadly. Sticking his tongue out at Aryan, he turned and ran out of the room.
Aryan shook his head at his annoying and irritating friend. But friend nonetheless.
Four days had passed since Diwali and his letter box is still empty. He shut the box and failed to supply the restlessness some other name : Something he was doing from last two days. He don't want to admit he is waiting for her letter, he don't want to admit that the restlessness in his heart is growing everytime he is opening the letter box to only find it empty. He closed his eyes and punched the letter box, annoyed and angry with his own feelings.
Why does it matter to him if she sends any letter or not? Why? He should be happy that her annoying letters have stopped. But ... But instead he is worried. Have he upset her by not going for Diwali?
And that thought did it. He groaned loudly and threw the books that he was carrying, on the floor, making all heads turn towards him. He sat down, clutching his throbbing head between his palm. He wanted her to stop sending letters. He wanted her advances to stop. Then now why it's bothering him so much? Why he need her letter now? The noises in his head were back again, making his head throb so painfully that he thought his head would burst any second. He covered his ears with his palm, wanting the noises to stop, but to no avail. He breathed hard, the anxiety hitting him hard of all the time.
"Aryan bhai .. .. Aryan bhai ,what happened to you? Open your eyes please..." Rehaan knelt in front of him, not knowing what's wrong with his friend.
Aryan heard Rehaan call him. But the noises in his head refused to stop.
"Aryan Bhai , Warden says your Father has called you. He wants to speak to you... Are you listening Aryan bhai?"
He listened that, all right. And he fought against the noises. His Father has called? Why? Why was his Father calling him? Why not her?
Keeping his palm flat against the ground, he tried to get up, his head still heavy, legs too shaky.
"Are you not well, Aryan bhai?" Rehaan stood up with him, concern.
"I am fine ..." he managed to say and all but ran towards the reception.
"Aryan?" Arnav called as he heard his ragged breathing from other side of the phone.
"Dad, why did you call?" Aryan asked, his heart thudding with fear for some unknown reason.
"Aryan, I ..." he looked over the bed. "Aryan, Khushi is not well , can you come to see her?"
Aryan froze. She was not writing letters because she isn't well. He don't know how to react at that news, but still an unknown feeling overwhelmed him, melting away his worries.
"I have sent the Driver, Aryan. He will be there to pick you in another hour or so.. You will come, won't you?"
"Yes ..."His answer was immediate. Any other day he would have refused his Father straightway, refusing to give him anything he wants. But today the thought of revenging his Father didn't cross his mind, today he was just thinking of her. She is not well.
"Aryan bhai, what happened? Are you not well? What did your Father say?" Rehann clutched Aryan's wrist and walked along.
"I am fine. I am going home. My M..." he stopped and looked down at Rehaan. "Someone is not well."
"Oh .." a sudden sadness filled his heart. Everyone is back to their home. And now Aryan bhai is also leaving. He is again left alone.
Aryan stopped as he felt Rehaan not following him. He turned back to see him standing still, head hung down. "What happened, Rehaan?"
Rehaan lifted his eyes, eyes filled with big fat tears, threatening to fall down any second. "You are also going, I will be alone here." he sniffed.
Aryan sighed. Yes, everyone is back to their home, leaving just few of them here. Rehaan too wanted to go back home for vacation, but as usual; his parents are too busy to think of what Rehaan wants. He felt really bad for him. After few days of ignorance from his Father, he had stopped caring about his Father, or so he told himself. But Rehaan still want his parents by his side. Despite of their ignorance, he still misses them and wishes they come to meet him.
"Do you want to come with me?"
Rehaan looked at his Aryan bhai for few seconds, not understanding his proposal. But when it did, a beautiful smile bloomed on his handsome face. "Yes, Aryan Bhai!" He ran and hugged his waist. "Thank you thank you! I don't like to be alone. Thank you, Aryan bhai. I promise to not bother your parents, I promise, Aryan bhai."
Corner of his lips lifted into a small smile. "OK then. Go and pack your bag, we will be leaving in an hour. I also need to seek permission to take you with me. Leave me"
Rehaan smiled and moved back. "OK bhai, meet you in an hour. Don't leave without me please!" He shouted, running towards his room.
