In the saddle

"this is crazy" were his first words as she cuddled on him between the sinks

"Iam comfy" she protested

"Lets go to bed" he promised

"U have to take a shower" she reminded him

He didnt know where his phone was, his watch was on the bedside table

Her phone was still playing songs, but she wouldnt let him move

"II" he begged

He pulled himself from under her lifting her... her saree trailed the soaked floor
he walked gingerly to bed placing her, curling up by her, pulling the covers over as she trembled

"do u have the security codes for the doors?" he asked

She didnt respond..."U have to be safe" he ordered on her ear

Her eyes closed, drowsy sleep drugged, satiated

He rocked her gently as she fell asleep, held her for the longest time, reluctantly pulling his arm from underneath as she stirred

Showered, shaved wore khakhi cargo pants and a crimson checked shirt, combed his hair tidied the bathroom, walked down to grab the broom to soak up water

Cleaned it up as much as he could, looked for her burgundy jhumka and its clasp tucked it in his pocket

He walked over to the master, she was asleep, went to his office, logged on to AF did priority checking AF-First
He had valet service and his luggage was loaded last and was taken out first

He unplugged his laptop wound the power cord neatly and and shoved it in...
wandered over to the office window and stared out at the Zambian embassy.. the flag fluttered

He wondered if the night was better than last... he walked over to the 2nd floor living room... everything was in its place, she had brought curious from a cupboard in the store room and placed it all over

There was Chinese dragons, Thai elephants, Moroccan palms... all from the Bhalla family travels

Sometimes she put stuff in a grouped manner
There was a big "French display" in the center of a chest of drawer

A group of 8 figurines of Napolean Josephine, Louis the X, XII, XIV... expensive porcelain figurines...

He would line up all the men behind the women, she would line them up side by side if she noticed they had their lil game going

She didnt place wedding pictures on the walls or on any end tables..
She frequently changed the cushion covers though... and they had to be in a certain order

He wandered out... to the biggest balcony first, and then back in to the living room, the bar was almost empty

He had forgot to ask them to stock it, he either drank less or drank downstairs, didnt know which

The frig had 4 Sam Adams bottles, he picked one up and opened sipping, walking over to the sun room... her laptop flashed pictures of the honeymoon
RANDOM pictures, subway signs, inside of the subway... the ROUTE... the ticket counter at Eiffel
Velan, the Indian grocery store...
She was goofy...
the bougainvillea was blooming and spreading... paper thin dark pink flowers... the roses? not quite there yet, this balcony didnt get much sun

He saw the tall wide front gates open and Mr & Mrs Iyer walk in he could see the back end of their Hyundai...

He walked back in and went to the bedroom, she was still asleep, he leaned over and kissed her cheek

Pulling the covers over
Cranked the thermostat up a bit, since it was freezing, her saree flowing from the bed was dry... she was nude on top, bruised.. and content

He walked down

Ranjan greeted them

"Hello" Appa nodded quite unhappy

Amma tried her best to smile

"How are u she asked

He set his beer on a runner table and reached for a shake with Mr Iyer

Did a namaste to Mrs...

"Ready puttar?" Ranjan asked

He half smiled "almost"

Appa watched piercingly as he reached for his newly opened beer bottle

"Where is Ishita?" Amma asked concerned

"Umm.. shes upstairs" he said squirming
"Can I go see her?" Amma asked

"Umm, shes taking a nap" he said softly

"NOW?" Appa asked panicking

R&B nodded

"WHY?" Appa demanded

"Umm.." R&B wondered how to tell the guy

"Its almost 8 ish on a Sunday evening why is she sleeping now?" Amma asked looking at her son in law's face for clues

"Beta tabiyat theek hai uski?" Ranjan asked seeing the Iyers very antsy

"Oh ya... I think she was tired, since we were out all day" R&B tried to explain

Appa was just not happy

Ranjan's phone rang

Mahavir brought appetizers and home made lemonade and strawberry juice

Amma sat reluctantly

"We came to see u off... we cant stay for dinner"

"No no... that cant be allowed" Ranjan said firmly

"No no.. we cant eat big meals after 8 O clock... we are simple folks that eat mostly a tiffin at night" Appa let his frustration show

"Its all very simple Iyer sahab" Ranjan explained

R&B leaned on the runner table arms across his chest

"Please aap baithe to"

"Its unusual for her to sleep" Appa insisted

""Arey Mr Iyer PLEASE SIT" Ranjan got up and pulled his hand to sit

Appa sat..

"If u are going because of a company loss, why cant the loss be compensated by loans?" Appa asked

R&B struggled to explain...

"Umm... Mr Iyer I partner in the company... my decisions caused some of the under performance" he said softly

"I am sure Ishita and u jointly can apply for loans" Appa kept going on his path

"Mr Iyer I dont think he is in need of money" Ranjan interjected softly

appa glared...like asking "How can YOU be so sure"

"His company is in a very good position, their cash reserves rival any startup in Europe" Ranjan explained

Appa looked at R&B, he nodded

"How can she stay here by herself?" Appa asked

R&B sipped quietly

Ranjan offered Amma snack and juice, Amma slowly took a couple pieces of paneer pakoras, it smelled divine like it had fennel seeds in it... the potato fritters had chopped mint

"we are not here to eat Madhavi" Appa ordered

"Mr Iyer dont say that... this is your house too" Ranjan said

"U say that... but HE IS LEAVING" Appa pointed to R&B

"He has a company there Iyer sahab" Ranjan was being patient and kind

"She insisted she did not want a Iyer boy" Apa said to him sadly, as if Amma cheated on him

"I understand" R&B muttered

"they are very happy" Ranjan reassured

"HOW? He is going... her mother wants her to start a family"

"I do too Iyer sahab" Ranjan said

"How by him being in Paris?" Appa asked

she walked down... well rested, wearing a pretty floral kurta in burgundy and a aurora pink chudidar,
a long flowing aurora pink dupatta trailed her

R&B signaled... she grabbed it with a nervous smile... still dazed

"Eppo vandey Ma?" she asked her voice husky and deep

"Less than an hour" Amma said smiling

"What happened to u?" Appa asked

"Nothing" she said looking at Ranjan

"Why were u sleeping?"

II squirmed, blushing...

Amma realized at that moment

She gently placed a hand on Appa's knee "He said she was tired" "Vidungo" (let it go)

Appa grunted and leaned back... sipping his juice

Sam came with Lasya... she smiled wide

"aunty sooo good to see u"

The baby looked at Amma curiously

Sam had dressed her in saffron yellow pattu pavadai
with a cuban orchid pink border, with heavy zari and tiny pink puffed sleeve blouse
She even wore a bindi... her hair tied on the side with yellow scuncies

she looked like a FAT Iyer baby

II looked at R&B when she saw Lasya

"Paaru da... so cute" she gushed

He smiled nodding

Tan came in with Nandu and touched Appa's feet first then his FIL's

"Uncle the new car looks great" he said

"Uh... umm.. its all Ishita she never listens, just went and bought it" Appa was now angry at his daughter too

Sam hugged her favorite bhabhi/bhai's wife

"U look sooo gorgeous" she whispered

"Not as much as her" II was sure

"Well that's because u are missing a earring" Sam laughed hysterically

II felt her ear...

R&B produced it

"GIMME THAT" she hissed grabbing it...😳
Sam offered to hold the lumpy thing as she wore it

II refused to part with lump😆, as Sam took the earring from her and put it on for her😳

Amma and Appa looked at something ranjan showed them on his phone...
Amma looked a lil relaxed now...

Appa shot his favorite enemy, even if that's the right English... with every visual ammunition possible

"Boss!! utaarke... kaam, ho jaaye phir lauta dete hain... churaate nahi" Tan hugged his saala... teasing him

R&B half smiled.. hugging him back

Sacha bayaan yahi hai ki salsa mein mirchi thodi kam thi aur tamatar kuch zyada pichak gaye the. Shaayad kuch ingredients bhi missing the, par phir bhi khaate khaate thik thak hi lagne laga. 😆

If i ask my teenager to unload the dishwasher, it will be unloaded, but mat pooch kaise lagayega cabinet mein... I will open it for a pot or a pan, EVERY damn thing from my 15+ years of grahasti will fall all over my toes... I have lost many a Waterford crystal bowls this way (ya right! I mean Walmart)
