Friday after work...(dude did not return until she left for work Friday morning)

She went to Amma's she had packed a gorgeous Kanjeevaram to wear to the party since Amma arm twisted her into singing. Akka couldnt go, she realized it was a second hand invitation
Amma dmitted it was... "Ada enn kittaye solreya?" (u are actually telling me?) she accused her Amma
Amma chuckled "Akka wanted to go raja, this has been postponed for 6 months now u know...

"then why did u sign me up for singing, Akka shud have cooked" II was all jealous

Appa smiled "Paavam dee kozhandai u are making her feel bad"

"Appa looks like I only get hand me downs in this house

"No kanna... I am teasing go change... Lodi Rd traffic will be terrible, all roads lead to Khan Market on Friday evenings"

"did u forget Mehar Chand Mkt?" Ii asked

"No shopping Ishita" Appa warned

"Appa the boutiques are open well after 9 PM, oru kutti round pa... PLEEEJ" she went down on her knees (one tiny look)

Appa patted her head fondly, II rested it on his veshti clad knees... "Amma did u change ur toe rings?" she asked staring at Amma's feet

"No kanna, Akka gave me the day of ur wedding" Amma smiled

"Nice style ma... how come she never gave me any"

"Enn di ipdi adichukare?" (why are u so impatient?) u wanted the tuby silver ones, I got u those" Amma scolded

"Kozhandai Madhavi she is asking, buy it for her no?"

"Arey Vandu's teacher friend bought from Surat" Amma said

"I will take u wherever u want raja after I retire" Appa promised

"Dont retire pa... then u can buy me stuff... just keep working... or... let Amma work"

"How much caring my daughter is" Amma smacked her soundly
"Epdi irukan avan" Appa cleared his throat

"Umm" she mumbled

"Ammmaaa.. u are supporting the enemy?" Ii asked shocked

"yes yes... looks like that" Appa said worried

"Enna dee enemy, onn purushan... paavam he minds his own business... aavana aati vechindu iruppe" ( why enemy? hes ur hubby...u must be torturing him)

"Ya UN wants to appoint him as India's peace ambassador" Ii smirked

Appa laughed

"She has a good sense of humor... the boy is clever, our daughter has to be smart"

"Are u even listening to urself? U are teaching her indiscipline"

"amma its not a school"

"U are acting like u live in a military school hostel and u have returne dhome for vacation"

"He lets me be" she mumbled blushing

"Paathukongo.. (see!!) he is nice to her" Amma shouted accusingly

"Must all be a ploy... hes a clever boy I say" Appa began

"She is not a vay illa jantu" (she is not a calf)

"My daughter is a innocent child" Appa declared waving a finger

"Thanks Pa" II gushed

"Po di go shower and change, oru tea, oru coffee... 3 thenga burfi... " Amma counted

"Madhu please dont cast an evil eye) drishti padum" Appa scolded

"She ate in Anna (Periappa's) room and then now..." Amma scolded

"Amma lets ditch no... I will order pizza, we will call Akka and we can all watch the latest Vijayakanth movie" II rolled on the floor

Appa laughed amused... "He acts like a burglar" he said dismissively

"For Appa everyone has to look like RBI Governor" Amma mocked

"Amaaa do u know how qualified he is?" Appa demanded

"Ayyyooo stop it u two... will u ask me who I love?"

"Porun dee... we know... Sooriya?"

"YES... TWO MORE" II winked

"Appa... ur turn..."

"Umm... who? who is that boy? Santhanam?'

II ROLLED ON THE FLOOR

Amma fell on her and rolled too

"Ayyyo ille pa... its SIDDARTH"

"Edo, kanna ellam onnu daan" (Sab barabar)

"Appa will say Vadivel"

"Why not he is very humurous I say" Appa was stern

"Appa you lost, Amma nee sollu"

"Podi I have to go get ready, will u make kanji for periappa?" Amma asked annoyed

"Yes ma... please ma... sit no" II begged

"He looks like a old man..." Appa said

"Pongo pa u dont know what handsome is" (jao Appa)

"Handsome is our son in law" Amma said with gushing pride

II stared...

"Evlav tall... casual... so relaxed and laid back like he doesnt bother about his appearance"

"Our boys try too hard" Appa said angrily... "He is always wearing hawai chappal and shorts, adellam oru dress a? (are they even decent clothes?)

"I mean SO TALL... head full of hair... odambu la oru ounce extra fat kedayadu... a tru hiker" (not an ounce of extra fat)

"SAY SOMETHING NICE ABOUT ME" II demanded

"U are tall, beautiful and look like a goddess kannappa" Appa kissed the top of her head

they returned after 1 AM in Appa's new Hyundai II got to drive it...

II woke up at 8 AM ish on Saturday. Amma happily let her sleep in... she drank her first coffee with Periappa.
Wore a dark green kanjeevaram silk, with a gold puff sleeve blouse, lots of flowers...
Amma had a "wish"/mannat/prarthanai at the Malai Mandir temple

They went for the prayers, Amma had paid for chakara and savory pongal, they got the prashad and returned at 10 ish

Selvi was home

Promised Amma she would cook
She checked her phone multiple times... no calls, no texts

Just texted Ranjan... the clever man that he was did not reveal the whereabouts of his son, II tried to fish as best as she could

"Sab theek hai puttar" "U must enjoy" "We are ALL OK" he repeated

AYYO!!
NOBODY IS WILLING TO GIVE ME A CLUE
She called Mahavir but asked mundane questions and hung up

SHITTT!!

Umm... RAKSHASAN!!

He doesnt give a damn..

She called Akka and told her about Appa's tamil movie hero knowledge,
sitting on the pod swing drinking her second dose coffee and eating chakara pongal out of a bowl

Appa did his pooja, Amma helped Selvi sweeo and dust and do the weekend deep cleaning

Akka sent Shravu with Athim, they hung out in the balcony, the potted plants were collecting a lot of clay/dirt underneath, she attached the hose to the kitchen faucet and dragged it all the way to the balcony
The balcony faucet did not work

Tucked her pleats high up, tucked her pallu on her waist, knotted up her loose wet hair with the jasmine strings... and moved the pots around

Selvi:Ayyo Amma onga ponnu veliya kalvua arambichidichu (ayyo ur daughter is afflicted with the disease of washing the balcony)

Amma:Ishita turn off the pipe, already water is in short supply... WHY are u doing this? We can use the washing machine water to rinse the balcony

II: Amma is shouting ka...

Akka:Yenna di pannine? (what did u do?)

II:Nothing washing the balcony... Shravu and I

Amma snatched the phone. PUT IT ON SPEAKER..
"Tanniye ille idula irukara tanniya kotti alambindu irukka, she is too much, Ishita po podavaya maathu" (there is no water she is wasting water, go change out of the saree)😭

II:Amma u ruined my fave balcony, I want to rearrange ur pots😭

Akka:Amma DO NOT SEND HER TO MUNIRKA ival vanda naanga oru maasam kulikka mudiyadu (we cant take a bath for a month if she visits)😭

II in her own sick twisted demented way manipualted it "Ayyo she is saying muzhugamala irukka" (a colloquial Tamil reference to being pregnant)🤣
Akka u are already that way..." II went into peals of laughter

Akka:Amma push her from the balcony!!😡

Amma smacked her soundly

Selvi: Kannu muzhugamala irukkuda? (is the baby of the family pregnant?)🤣

Amma: the way she is wasting water, ALL OF US WILL BE THAT WAY.🤣

selvi gave Amma a very strange look and walked away

Amma:ishita I am giving u 10 minutes, kozhava neruthu ulla va" "Appa gets up from pooja u are in trouble" (shut the faucet off)😡

II:Shhh shhh every one is listening to u shout at ur married daughter

Amma:At this rate they will also witness me killing her

II unmindfully used the spiky broom and pushed water out

Amma left her alone, water stopped

"Tanniya edukku da stop pannine?" (why did u stop the water flow?) she yelled

There was no response...

"SHRAVAN Iyer" W"HY DID U TURN OFF THE WATER?" Ii yelled

Appa raised his chant volume as if to scold her

"II was MAD... she turned in

"Rakshasaney why did u turn off the water?" "On velaya idu?" (did u do it?)

A tall 6'3" lanky man in off white cargos and a orange check shirt stood inside the open front door

His eyes ogled head to toe, back to the carelessly knotted up hair..the oversized gold jhumkas, and gold bead nose ring. saree lifted up over her knee, her curves exposed with the tightly stretched pallu ... a Iyer houswife😳

The punjabi choora the only thing that belonged to him... if u dont count II, i.e.,☺️

She flung the broom back in the balcony... and quckly pulled down the gathered/tucked folds... releasing them..

"ayyo" she whispered...😳

Her Rakshasan was here...
