**Edited**

That was an emotionally packed update Jen, but thanks for sweetening the bitter pill by giving us a dose of the cute nutcase Anita. The very same nutcase, whom Aman is alternately wanting to strangle or kiss her senseless... 😉

Loved these words...

"He was confused. He was amused. He was confounded. He was curious. Unknown to himself, he'd just fallen down the rabbit hole, right into Anita's wonderland."

That just about summed up Aman's situation with Anita LOL. Yeah, poor guy has no idea what hit him fair & square in the face. Does he stand a chance against Anita's willy-nilly ways?? Naah! not one bit 😉 He might as well accept defeat gracefully from the get go & start toeing the line if he knows what's good for him & what exactly is in store for him... 😆

Panic drives people crazy, makes otherwise sane people do untoward things which lands them up in serious embarrassment later. But no one in the heat of the moment, pauses to think about the consequences of their words or actions, as they erode people's lives with impunity... Alas! We all at some point in time or other have become a slave to our turbulent emotions... So Manya's actions & words, though totally deplorable, are running true to form of an enraged & sympathetic sister, who passed judgment without bothering to find out the facts first.

But remorse washes away many a sins they say... Although quite late now, since her cruel words have already unleashed their havoc on the Gupta household, especially on Khushi, it was however somewhat satisfying to see some remorse in Manya as well... Am glad, Manya had the sense to see her folly in blaming Khushi in such a cruel fashion especially for something she wasn't really culpable of... Even more so to see Arnav blast her for her ill-thought out words & actions... But the damage has been done!

Blood runs thicker than water, her loyalties will always lie with La, but I hope, Arnav's words penetrated her guilt-ridden, exhausted mind enough to leave Khushi out of this mess in the future. I hope she will try harder in helping her sick sister to get out of this rut that she seems to have gotten herself into.

Now coming to my favorite person in this story, my dear Arnav... He seems to have developed some ESP where Khushi is concerned... On the one hand, he wanted to enlighten Khushi about the latest fiasco in their lives, served up so well by their common nemesis, but what was so endearing about him was the way he was thoroughly concerned about Khushi's emotions & wanted to keep from her the blasted suicide note... Knowing Khushi's guilt & countenance, he knew instinctively how she would react at the news... But little did he know, the deed had already been done. Loved the way he guessed that it might be Khushi on the phone. He has truly developed ESP regarding Khushi... Poor guy, he was livid & may I add, quite rightly so, to see his beloved being dragged into this dirty mess...

His tear-jerker text to Khushi just broke my heart. So want to see him & Khushi talk at least once. Poor things, they so don't deserve this drama in their lives right now. As I have said before, the collateral damage because of one person's selfishness has been huge in this story... Hope to see her realize the damage she has inflicted on the lives of so many people, including her very own family and understand the pain she has brought about... She needs to repent badly for her sins. Karma needs to be accounted for.

The best news in this update was your last line in your note that you will try & give us an early update towards the end of this week... Please do, extremely eager to see the confrontation!

Awesome chapter Jenny, keep 'em coming. 😉 Am totally glued to this story.

Jenny, another masterpiece update from you.

Dont mix bad words with your bad mood. You'll have many opportunities to change a mood, but you'll never get the opportunity to replace the words you spoke.

Manya spewed venom at Khushi earlier and might regret it now after Arnav told her the truth, but the damage has already been done. Just because we have mouths we just throw away words which most of us do in a fit or rage or anger or helplessness but unfortunately we always have to face the consequences of our actions later on. Just Manya saying sorry will really not bring back the agony, pain and guilt Khushi is undergoing and will probably feel for her entire life.

Khushi did enter this relationship with her eyes open, yes. But what she did not expect was the obsession Lavanya had for Arnav. Even when she encouraged Arnav to have a talk with her to end things amicably, she never imagined the extent La would go to get Arnav. She probably thought La was someone normal like Aman who would understand that things have ended and would move on slowly in life.

But the guilt that you are responsible for someone's death or attempt to die is very great. I guess it is this guilt that has really shook her up. Technically La is still Arnav's wife and the truth that Lavanya would even die for her husband's love is something which is making Khushi think that maybe she did come inbetween them afterall. And to add to it, her parents are also pointing at the same thing and blaming their daughter for breaking a marriage. What can someone who is so empathetic like Khushi do???

Coming to Arnav, today again my heart pained for him. First he had to deal with an irrational Manya and try to put some sense into her and then the big shocking truth dawns on him that Khushi knows the entire truth. And he immediately realises that Khushi is withdrawing herself from him. His text message really brought tears in my eyes.

Coming to Lavanya, first I am and I am sure all the readers are glad that she is out of danger and that she is going to live.

Why did La become like this obsessed lover type?? Going back to her childhood and her adolescence will probably answer this question. Probably she always craved for love and never found it. Her father and sister were maybe busy with their careers to see La not growing up normally. And then she falls in love with Arnav who rejects her. Ofcourse opportunity does fall in her lap and she sleeps with him. If Aarav was Arnav's biological son, then probably they would have had a good marriage with La's guilt not coming inbetween them and she not turning into a nagging wife. But unfortunately for her, Aarav was not Arnav's son and he came to know the truth eventually.

Now once Arnav moved out of her life, I think somewhere La's dad and her sister did a big big mistake of not looking at the reasons for her failed marriage. They washed away their responsibilities by putting the blame on Arnav saying he was a jerk to leave his wife at this juncture and did nothing to help La beyond just pitying her. I wish that they had paid attention to her sorrows, then probably things would not have gone out of hand today.

Some might say that Arnav had to inform La's father and sister about the reasons for their failed marriage. But we cannot forget the fact here that he himself was a big mess after Aarav's death and after ending his ties with Lavanya. He had found his refuge in alcohol and sleeping pills. Even he did not find any compassion from his mother whose only concern was that her son work things out with her daugher-in-law. Fortunately for him, he found his reason to live in the form of Khushi. Khushi pulled him out of the abyss of darkness he was in and he embraced life back again.
So when he himself was such a mess for many months, how can we expect him to think of Lavanya's misery and the solutions for that.

Jen, I dont know what makes Khushi go away. But one thing I am sure is that Arnav should not involve himself too much in Lavanya's treatment. The more she sees him, the more she starts getting hopes that maybe Arnav would want to come back to her. Once she is awake and fine, let him talk to her once and try to tell her in nice words that life has to go on and that she must become brave and he has to just get out of her life. From there its Manya, her dad's and Lavanya's responsibilities to rebuild their lives again.

Wow I have been typing and typing my views from such a long time. 😆

Finally last but not the least Anita and Aman's story.

How does a girl tell a guy who was her sister's almost ex that she is interested in him??? I must appreciate Anita for her attempts at conveying this message to Aman. Hope Aman understood what she was trying to say.

@Jen - thank you for updating in spite of everything! You're the bestest 🤗
@Jen & all those residing in the Northern States - Hope the weather situation gets better soon. Till then, there's the update to be enjoyed. Warm wishes from the subcontinent!!😃

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Firstly, Anita and Aman...I'm glad to see some progress there...
I am one of the above mentioned feminists who'd wait for the guy to take the first step...quite hypocritical, isn't it? I really applaud Anita's honesty and her courage. I say courage 'cause the guy is question is an ex-almost-fiance of her sister... She's aware that she could be judged, looked down upon and also that there's a chance of him not returning her affections. In spite of that she persists, she is brave enough to take a chance in spite of the possibility of getting hurt. That is so admirable! My respect for her has gone a notch up!

The hospital scene...
Astha's sympathy and compassion is understood... Even if are hurt and let down by a family member, you'd never wish them death.
I understand Manya's state of mind, too. She's sad, guilty, angry...but to choose to take it out on someone she doesn't even know is unfair and cruel. She is not so different from Lavanya it seems... misdirected anger, thoughtless actions and a twisted sense of judgement... although she is slightly more stable, I guess.
However much she may regret it now and later on, some things cannot be undone. The wounds of her words are going to be suffered by others...I can't even imagine what Khushi is going through... She doesn't know what to think.. Even in midst of all that she thought of calling and checking on La...
Arnav handled the situation quite well so far. He didn't overreact. He didn't give any justifications just stated a few facts. His reaction when he found out that Khushi knew, was justified. I could feel the dread that ran through him. Added to all that Khushi wasn't responding to his calls... He was bound to be anxious.
That text message was so heartbreaking yet sweet. He calls her Khushu! His desperation and vulnerability comes through so clearly in those few lines... It made me cry.
Have faith, he pleads. I don't think Khushi loses faith and leaves. At least I hope that in her heart that she has faith that they are meant to be, she's just not ready to see so many people hurt in the process (even if they're being delusional or accusatory or judgmental)

You write wonderfully, Jen. This chapter is just another illustration of that.
Waiting to read about the confrontation now. I'm dreading the conversation between Arnav and Khushi!!

Lovely update Jen!! As usual I read it very slowly so as to not miss those tiny details :)

Loved how Aman and Anita's (romance) saga is progressing :) I'm one of those feminists that believe in guys should approach first (up until now) but had to agree with Anita's point. If they take offence to a girl's approach then they are not worth persuing.

Anita is really crazy and is a perfect foil to Aman's calm demeanor. How old is Anita btw?

I was dreading the Hospital scene as much as you may have trying to wrte it in trying to make it perfect. And I have to say you succeded (as always). Just a perfect and the right amount of words in trying to show how wrong Manya was to have brought Khushi into this mess. It was unfortunate that Arnav's phone was broken but still Mana would have acted the same way, in an irrational, irresponsible way.

Can totally understand how Astha felt about Lavanya and her sincere gestures towards Manya; She is as graceful as any sane person can be in that situation.!

Now Arnav knows that Khushi know. And she is not answering his calls. His text was desperate as much as endearing. I noticed he said "Khushu"; its enough for me to know what he is feeling right now and my heart went out for him!!

Was confused about your note. You meant to say you couldn't get to Arnav - Khushi scene instead of Hospital confrontation scene? Is there another one? Whatever it is, dont be sorry.. this update was perfect 🤗

Love you loads Jenny. Thank you for penning a very realistic Arshi story where the protagonists are not perfect; where I can empathize with an antagonist & her family; where the parents are as imperfect as the children; in essence this is as real as the Asli Duniya out there 🤗

me too waiting for Mr. Foster, Ms Craven and Branny...

Jenny...

What a lovely update... Anita seems to be a student of Benjamin Franklin... "To succeed, jump quickly at opportunities as you do at conclusions"... What an optimistic attitude girl she is... Like this affable girl who talks nineteen to the dozen, not so subtle at giving hints about how she feels and acknowledges candidly that she is one among the people who suffer from foot-in-mouth disease... But Aman is unaware of these... Seems to have buffalo skin when it comes to such hints...

Your quote Alice and the cat...

How apt... For Aman does not know which road to take as he has no destination right now and hence the path with Anita is of no harm for him...

The dual mind of Arnav which keeps playing in his head of wanting to hear from Khushi yet resisting, as he not wants her to know about Lavanya's handiwork, is tearing him apart... He knows now, Khushi has become a pawn, Lavanya knowing Arnav loves Khushi and he has never loved her, is using it as a leverage to gain her ends... For her the end justifies the means... But does it really???

Still Arnav was good enough to meet the doctor attending her case and discuss it... The relief of knowing that she is on the mend is immeasurable... All said and done nobody likes to be the reason for someone else giving up their zest to live and Arnav and Khushi are no exception...

Though Manya is filled with anger towards Arnav she loathed the fact that she accused and behaved irrationally with Khushi. This showed that Lavanya does have hope to be cured... This streak of insane obsession does not run in the family... Once she vented out her anger towards Arnav, Manya was decent enough to listen to what he had to say and Arnav telling her that he met Khushi just recently and their marriage had fallen apart long back had surely made Manya contrite... Her perception of the situation changed. She accepted that her sister had problem of not accepting the reality... But still she became a sister protecting her sibling when Arnav asked whether the call was from Khushi... The fury emanating from him when she told that Khushi has been inflicted with anguish unnecessarily should have given her an indication as to something else does not add up here...

What Manya is beginning to realize is that... the only words that you'll regret more than the words left unsaid are the ones used intentionally to hurt... When she spewed venom at Khushi at Khushi's house, in her state of anger she could not see the truth of Khushi's surprise and her being in pain at being held responsible for Lavanya's action. Just like not being able to see one's reflection in boiling water, Manya had been unable to see the truth and without analyzing she had given her judgement... After her action she has started to analyze and has realized what she did in anger amounted to cruelty... Arnav who has realized that Khushi is hurt tries to contact her but will he be able to disprove the Chinese adage... Not the fastest horse can catch a word spoken in anger...

Khushi has been bounced with rejection all the way... In time of her need, the very support, her parents, have pulled away. Her feeling now is that she is a big disappointment to them. Her only other support, Arnav is going through a crisis, though its related, she is feeling that she is adding more to his woes... Hence her detachment to all the things going on around her including calls, except the ones that is going on in her head... So what will she do now???

Lovely update Jenny...
