DISCLAIMER: THIS STORY IS BASED ON THE TRUE STORY! I HAVE JUST PUT INTO MY OWN WORDS!

ONE SHOT: STORY OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SOUL, MY WIFE!

MY TRIBUTE TO EVERY MOTHER OUT THEIR!
***
She had tears in her eyes the day I proposed her. She seemed to be in denial and living in an illusion a rich person like me would never propose her, not even me but anyone. As she had already said no to by many useless guys.

She fell on the sofa of her living room. I asked if I had hurt her. But she said nothing. I was in pain as I was afraid she would say no to me.

But never she knew a man like me would ever have done anything out of proportion. It was truly against my image I knew, however, I was surprised because I didn't care.

But she knew I loved her. If she felt the same for me I had no idea. She was the one woman who always focused on her work, very attentive she had been, worked for limited hours in a day, in my office as a head of fashion department. But she was very clear the day she had come for the job interview. And to tell you the secret more than her beauty I had fell for head over heels for her intelligence and her straightforwardness.

She had said, "Sir, work is very important for me, today I am standing at that point of life where I am not alone, I have a family to look after. So, I will work but from only 9:30-2:00."

When the actual office would close at 5:00 PM.

"Sir, it is your choice if you want to keep me. But I have priorities set, And if it is possible, I will do work that needed to be done at work, rest I will take home and finish."

I don't know why I had agreed to her, to tell you the other truth I always preferred to set conditions, I would have hate if any other person had come to me and said this, but there was something in her that I saw and is very hard to put in words.

She had her priorities right, at that time I didn't know why she was always so reserved, what priorities she had in her life. I never asked as I didn't like to poke nose in people's life.

As I waited for her response, she told me she had a baby girl, I would not lie if I would say I was shocked, never expected it.

I could tell she was confident that I would say no to her.

"So are you married?" I asked as my heart was going through the worst pain it ever felt.

"No," she replied.

"Then the baby girl?"

She went inside her room and brought a baby girl. Oh lord, she was beautiful baby girl.

"Grace, say high to uncle!"

"Hi, uncle!" she said.

"Hey, little girl!" I said and smiled at her. She did the same. Just like her mother she had a beautiful smile. But I was really hurt that she had a baby girl. But I wanted to know how come Khushi had a baby girl.

"Grace, go inside and play, mommy will be there in a moment."

"Okay, mommy, bye uncle!"

"Bye, grace!" I answered.

Khushi offered me a seat.

As very softly she started telling me her story...

"Very few people knows about it, including my family. Sir, I am rejected by many guys, nobody ever tried to enquire about grace. They just said no. You are the first person who wanted to know."

People taunted her saying, "I don't know whose blood grace is? I am sure her parents must be regretting adopting her," I heard a lady in her neighbourhood say. I wasn't had any idea Khushi was adoptedas her parents had died in an accident later she was looked after by her massi massa.

However, I could tell Khushi did not at all feel bad about it, I could tell she was very proud she was a mother. Having a baby girl like grace she never regretted. She knew she hadn't done any wrong.

She always held her head up high and with a smile on her face ignored people remarks.

For grace, she had lost her family, in fact, it turned out to be she indeed can never be their real blood as they didn't show any support to her as one day she had showed up at the door with grace in her hands, now she was alone.

It was just easy for Khushi to tell the world the truth about her daughter, but she was okay let people taunt her rather than anyone point fingers at her daughter, grace.

***
I stood behind the pillar of grace's school as Khushi had come to drop her, as I heard Grace say, "Mommy!"

"Yes, baby?" She had said.

"Mommy, where is my daddy?" she asked. Khushi's lips quievered.
"You miss him?" she said shedding no tears.
"No, mommy!" she said. "Just asking because my friend zoe, asked me. But I said I don't need a father because I have a mommy!"

That was a very sensible answer she or I ever expected from grace at the age of three.

"And mommy, loves you the most!" Khushi said with tears in her eyes. "Mommy, I love you too!"
"Bye, grace your class will start in few minutes," she said and they both gave each other a kiss on lips. I smiled seeing their bond. Grace even touched her mother's feet.

Khushi immediately stopped her. "Grace, live long my jaan. But what was this for?"

"Mommy, teacher said, one should always take blessings of god, their parents by touching their feet."

Khushi couldn't help, but cry she immediately hugged her. The tears of her eyes were even in me. "My blessings are always with you, my Shona. Always!" she replied.

As school bell rang Khushi told her daughter to go to her class and wiped her tears.

"Mommy, please don't cry. I like you when you are smiling."

"No, baby, mommy is not crying. She is feeling really lucky. Lucky to have you."

"Bye, mommy!"

That bit really touched me and yes, had melted my stone heart that never beat for anyone. But what struck me was, Khushi was working day and night for her daughter. At sharp 5 o'clock in the morning, Khushi would get up to prepare breakfast for herself, and for her daughter. Later she would prepare lunch, iron Grace's school dress, check her bag pack, then put her books according to the schedule of a day. Later, she would get herself ready then get grace ready for her school, at 8:30 AM she would drop grace at school and not in any mere school, grace was studying at the best school in Mumabi, and then at exact 9:30 AM she would reach my office.

That didn't end up there, at 2:30 PM she would pick grace from her school and at exact 3:00 clock after her lunch, she would take her to the swimming classes, then music classes, and dance classes that were every other day respectively. Those were her daughter's interest.

Then at 4:30 she would take her home back. Meanwhile, Khushi would finish house chores, grace would watch TV, or even take few minutes nap.

At 7:30 dinner and exact 9:00 Khushi would get grace in the bed, a bed time stories and 9:30 AM she would doze off.

Khushi, then would finish her office work that she had asked me will finish at home. And when once she would finish her work at 1:30 AM she would go to sleep.

I seriously didn't ever know being a working woman and a mother means this much hard work. Even one year ago she had bought a three bedroom apartment. For her daughter so that she could have a proper environment to grow up, away from people who would only spread negativity.

So this was all her daily routine.

That was the biggest shock of my life. I thought I knew everything about the most beautiful woman in my life. But no, I was so wrong.

Everything was done I had told Khushi, that I want to marry her, then she disclosed her second truth, that grace wasn't her real daughter. She had found her on the side of the road, kept in the bucket.

The respect for Khushi as a woman had increased thousand fold.

I had told her why doesn't she tell the world about it. In return she said, "It was okay if people pointed finger at her, but her daughter."

Now it has been 2 years of our marriage. Today, our daughter, Grace is 5 years old, and our second baby is due in 7 months. I, seriously feel that am very lucky to have a woman with the most beautiful heart.

***
He gave Khushi and her daughter, and his unborn a kiss, and got up to prepare a breakfast for them.

***
This was the story of a one such mother, but I am sure there are many such mothers in this world who have given selfless love to the children who aren't their own. I salute to such beautiful souls.

So how was it, people? I hope I did justice to the story itself!
