It was Sunday morning a single day for me to sleep properly. Every morning of the week began with hectic schedule following rest of the day. I was away from my family since four months now to complete my MBA in Pune. It was quite late in morning but still no regretting its Sunday and I can double the food in my plate during lunch time.
"Kria get up... Just get rid of that bed at once" My roommate Taani screamed.
She was woken and had bathed too but I was finding it too difficult to leave my cozy bed. My aching bones were still not ready to leave the bed. "Kria come out of that blanket I said." she screamed again.
"Get up you lazy girl... look it's raining"
"So???" I mumbled beneath my blanket. She took off my blanket royally disturbing my sleep. "Kria move down right now and brush your teeth then have a bath. Today again we missed the breakfast like every Sunday." Sometimes she behaved like a teacher. "So what's the big deal Taani? Breakfast served is not even worth eating."
I pressed the tube of toothpaste to get some on my brush. Throwing my fresh clothes in the bucket I left for washroom. Taking few steps I returned back to the room. "Damn"
"What happened?"
"I forgot the towel" I said. She threw the towel over my head and throwing it too in my bucket I left for washroom. Sunday bath was always relaxing no hurry at all for reaching on time for class neither the fear of missing the breakfast. Taking my own time I came out of the washroom.
"Aise kya ghoor rahi hai mere phone ko?" I said
Taani was having my phone in her hand. "Kria kisi ka call aya tha from your city I told her to call after few minutes." She gave back phone in my hands. I didn't know who had called me as there were few people with whom I had contact and preferred talking. Pressing the unlock key I check my received call list. It was from Sharon but I was weird as she said they all were going to Lonavala which was in outskirts of Mumbai for a concert.
"Hey what happened? You guys had left for the concert right?" I called her and asked.
"Nothing actually did Rey call you or messaged you?" she said.
Well, Rey is with them then why is she calling to ask about him. "No, he didn't call it was last night when we talked but why are you asking?" She was little nervous while replying. "No nothing umm I'll call you later Kria" she said and kept the phone abruptly.
Then after some time Swayam called and asked the same question but I don't know why none gave a proper reply to my questions that why they were so curious about Rey. I tried calling Rey but no use it was out of coverage area? I didn't have slight clue about what must have happened and where was Rey? Was he safe?
"Come here Kriya" Taani screamed.
"What is it Taani?" I was a bit irritated by my friends lying there in Mumbai.
"Kria stop cribbing just come here." I went to the hall where news was being flashed on TV screen. The militants had planted an IED near a track and triggered the blast to target the Della resort in Lonavala an official said, adding that the matter is being investigated.
I instantly picked up my phone and dialed Sharon's number. "Sharon, has Rey left for Lonavala?"
"Kria actually he..." she stammered.
"Just say yes or no" I screamed.
"Yes. He did last night" she said.
My heart fell back suddenly world seemed to be paused at that moment. Nothing seemed correct and I was thinking upon only a single matter. Where Rey would be? Is he safe? I tried his number a lot of time and again it was out of coverage area.
Taking few steps out to the balcony I rested upon the lounge lying over there trying to be positive about him. But questions relating him barged my mind. Was he alright? In which corner of this was he lying? Would he have eaten something?
One hour was quite long I decided to take another nap till he comes. Two hours passed it was 1:30pm now almost lunch time where was he? I thought. Lying on my bed I continuously changed my position. We had decided to go for breakfast together in Mumbai and I was dying to have something.
I had held my tummy slightly to stop it from making those weird sounds when my cell rang. "Hey where are you?"
"Hey I'm sorry as I don't think I'll be able to make it today." he said.
Now I felt like screaming on him. He was the first one to call and chalk out the plan then he was late for two hours and finally he is the one to cancel. I was starving here to have something waiting for him. In this while I would have gone out to fill my empty stomach. "Umm it's okay" I let out slowly as I didn't want any drama to happen.
"Haha" he let out a giggle. I was so irritated by this person that if he would have been in front may I would have killed him by now. What kind of shamelessness was that? After committing a mistake he is giggling over it. "Why are you laughing?" I asked sternly.
"Haha come down I'm standing at your gate." He said and giggled being super happy after making a fool out of me. "That wasn't funny" I said. Taking out my bag I moved out for the day. He was standing near the entrance of the main gate of my house.
"Hi" he said.
I smiled lightly and sat in his car. He was driving at an average speed to get me into a conversation but I was still angry on him. It was alright that he cracked a little joke but where was he since two hours. I simply smiled in his every sentence without giving any reaction.
"Hey I said I'm sorry yaar I was just kidding" he said.
"It's fine but where were you? I was waiting for you from so long?"
"I'm sorry actually it was raining so heavily that I was stuck in the traffic jam on highway. You must be hungry right? Come let's have something" He said but I wasn't still calmed. "No its fine I'm not hungry" he parked the car near a small caf famous for street food. "Are you sure you don't wanna have anything?" he asked again.
I didn't reply anything. He got down from the car and went ahead to have it alone. I looked around and distract myself but it was looking so tempting. Light rain and street food what a yummy combination. I tried to control but no use. Let the ego go to hell I jumped out the car and ran towards the cafe.
He was about to have paani-puri when I snached it from him and took it in my mouth. Chewing it like a hungry buffalo I gulped it down my throat. He was smiling when I almost had two dozen paani-puri with chaat-papri and samosa.
"Feeling better?" he asked passing the water. Finally a sigh of satisfaction came from inside that I had something. I gulped down the water. "It felt heaven."
"Hmm to nakhre kyu dikha rahi thi?" he asked.
I burped out loudly without giving any answer back to him.
I swiftly turned to the other side of the remembering the beautiful moments it got in my life. There were million of them to remember but this moment the rain was increasing my anxiety about Rey. It won't be appropriate to say that I was worried as my breath was on stake with him.
"I Hope you are fine."
