Chapter - 1 : The Surprise Meet

Sanyukta scrolled through her mailbox unmindfully. It was a dull Monday morning with no real work for her to do. She was just back from her trip to Germany after attending a company sponsored 6 months training in automobile designing. She had been in Delhi over the weekend and had a blast of a time with her parents, brother Ankit and his wife Saumya. Sanyukta recalled how Saumya was a perfect fit for her family where everybody expected a girl to be a good homemaker. Obviously, she herself was an exception with her obsession with Mechanical engineering and her work thereafter. She had almost been tagged a family disgrace when she took admission to FITE. She could not forget those years throughout her life when she was constantly on her wits fearing her family to plan the unexpected for her. How she had braved through an engagement to be a part of an international competition would become a legend that she hoped to share with her children and grand-children someday, ofcourse only if she ever got married.

Ahh !!! the International competition ! They had won it. It had been one hell of a roller-coaster ride, but yet they had eventually won it. It was the national level appreciation that came with the win which had convinced Mr. Aggarwal of his daughter's talents. He finally gave in to Sanyukta's career aspirations and allowed her another couple of years of her life for her profession. Today Sanyukta was a popular name amongst the highest echelons of her company, ofcourse for her talent and capability. Post her trip to Germany she was even more excited to work on yet another dream project for designing a new vehicle for the masses in India.

Ahaa!!! So you're back?' Mr. Naik, Sanyu's boss called out as he walked into her cubicle. Already bored?' he said as he observed that no work was turning his favourite workaholic junior into a dull girl.

Good Afternoon, Boss!' Sanyukta said getting up from her desk, restlessness evident in her voice. So when does this design project kick-off. It is really difficult to kill time with no real work to do. These online training obligations etc. suck big time.' she ranted following Mr. Naik to his desk.

Relax girl. After the gruelling training in Germany, any normal person would want a break. But not you! From where do you bring such energy?' Mr. Naik was amazed. He winced at his daughter like junior and continued, Ok! Lemme give you the good news that you've been waiting for. We've tied up with a specialised Design Research Consultant to help us work on the designs of the intended product launch. And you will be working with them as the internal SPOC from SAPL. They should be here any moment to meet us. This will be a launch meeting for both the parties. No serious work today, just an introduction meeting.' He said as he prodded over his wrist watch. They should be here any moment. Are you ready to meet them? And I bet, you will enjoy every bit working with them' he winced.

Sanyukta felt a sudden rush of adrenaline throughout her system. The very thought of being on the top of a real automobile design project was just too over-whelming. She wanted to call her mom right away and share the news with her. She signalled her Boss who was now busy attending a call from the reception, to excuse her for a minute. Mr. Naik put down the receiver and called out, Don't take too much time, people from Resultrix Designs' are here waiting for us in the conference room.'

Resultrix Designs. Sounds interesting, but must be a new player in the market', her mind processed meanwhile.

Renuka Sanyal and Randhir were sitting with their backs towards the entrance door of the conference room. Randhir was rocking his chair with impatience, These people can't be on time for a meeting in their own office. What wonder's do they intend to do in the automobile industry?'

Patience, boy! Don't judge people so soon. Atleast give them a chance to present themselves to you.' Renuka Sanyal said trying to control her excitement. This is going to surprise your guts, Randhir' she thought.

Ok mom, i'll call you back in the evening. I need to head for the meeting right away.' Sanyukta disconnected the call as she entered the conference room. Her eyes were still on her mobile screen to check for new mails, when she lost balance and tripped. Damn these heels. Why do I ever try to sport these' was the thought on her mind as she felt herself heading towards the floor. Ouch' she screeched closing her eyes, preparing herself to bear the impact of the fall, when she felt a strong set of arms around her. She found herself hanging in the air, but safely tugged in a loop of arms. Oops Sorry!' words left her mouth as she open her one eye slightly to see who was it who had saved her from this great fall. The time between her opening one eye and other eye popping out in shock was just a millisecond.

She went numb, as she saw the person infront of her. She tossed her eyes towards both her sides to see if it was for real that she was in his arms. She looked back at his face, blinked her eyes in slow motion to make sure that she wasn't dreaming. His face exhibted an expression were a replica of her's throughout. To an onlooker it would have looked like mirror images in two gender versions.

He held her in that position, unable to move for what seemed like eternity. It was like her eyes held him captive not allowing him to move and vice versa. It took Renuka Sanyal three Excuse Me's to bring them out of their trance. Randhir looked around with discomfort as Sanyukta struggled to get back on her feet.

So, the reunion finally!!! Surprised?' Renuka Sanyal gleamed. Her dignified tone failing to camouflage her excitement at watching the two in shock.
