Part 9 - First Day at F.I.T.E (1)
A New Morning, A New Day, A New Hope not only brings a reason to carry own with their life, it also brings determination, energy, positivity very much needed to reach their goal.
This was the thought of the day of F.I.T.E also know as Founders Institute Of Technology And Engineering. The top most Mechanical Engineering college among all where everyday there is a new challenge to face, new goals to accomplish and passion to something extra-ordinary.
F.I.T.E college is situated in Roorkie with lush green environment surrounding whole place. The peaceful eco-friendly environment only added to its charm.
Sanyukta along with her friend Kaustaki were ready with their luggage outside the flat looking out for an empty taxi. Once the driver had loaded the car with the remaining two bags they set off. The journey to the halls of residence where she was going to be living for good four years of her life couldn't end soon enough the whole way Kaustaki lectured her about everything from being what they gonna do and how they will be spending their time there. As Kaustaki carried on her never ending speech, Sanyukta sighed looking around the surrounding as they whiz past through various trees and lamp-posts.
As the driver pulled up the car, Sanyukta and Kaustaki got out, the view of the halls and it's beautiful surroundings took their breath away there were three buildings each with four levels.
"Wow, this looks amazing" said Sanyukta.
"What is the name of the building we need to go" asked Kaustaki.
Sanyukta pulled out their letters from her bag and read through it 'BlueBell'. That was the name of the building they were going to be staying in. The other two building were known as 'Almond Drake' and 'Parkside'.
Sanyukta and Kaustaki made their way to 'BlueBell'. The surroundings and car park was filled with other student and their families. They both stood in a queue outside the building waiting to be seen by the administration team, they were both going to be allocated their rooms and were also going to be find who were they going to share their respective rooms with.
Sanyukta saw with the corner of her eyes, that Kaustaki was seeming. really nervous, she was fidgeting with her fingers and was standing on her toes now and then.
"Kausto, stop fidgeting" said Sanyukta.
"I can't help it Sanyu, what if we are not roommates and sharing a room together, what if my roommate is horrible, how am I going to survive a whole year with such a person. I really wish for you to be my roommate Sanyu."
"Kausto don't worry, let's see what happens" said Sanyukta assuring her calming her down.
"Miss Sanyukta Aggarwal" the man behind the desk called out for her.
Sanyukta walked up with Kaustaki close behind. Sanyukta passed her letter to the officer who gave her a welcoming smile.
"Ok Miss Aggarwal your room number is 404 , which is on fourth floor. You are sharing your room with Miss Kaustaki Sherpa, here are your keys and finally if I could get you to sign here"
Kaustaki eyes brightened up hearing this.
Sanyukta took the pen from the officer and signed the piece of paper, she was given a book that outlined rules and regulations for students. Sanyukta took the keys and thanked the officer before she turned around to see Kaustaki smiling widely and excitedly.
"Sanyuu..." Kaustaki started but before she could say anything her name was being called out. She was being told the same rules and regulations as Sanyukta and was given a book. She said thank you to the officer and both her and Sanyukta made their way up to their room.
The room was spacious, the walls are painted in cream and the furniture was in beech wood. There was two of everything, two single beds against the two opposite sides of the wall two cupboards and two desks with chairs, they also had an on suite bathroom, seeing as Kaustaki wouldn't like the window side, Sanyukta opted for the bed next to the window as she walked upto her side she knew she had made a good choice, the view from the window overlooked the gardens of the halls and in the distance she could see her campus.
Kaustaki and Sanyukta spent the next hour and a half setting their things. Sanyukta sat on her bed and sighed.
"Finally" she said.
Sanyukta has finally joined F.I.T.E. Her dream college to make her dream come true, her one and only dream to become a mechanical engineer. But the cost one has to pay to fulfill ones dream is never low...disowned by her family she struggles to overcome the male dominant society.
Once the girls had finished making their empty room more like home they decided to venture out to see if they could meet anyone else from their halls and also look around the grounds. Walking towards the elevator Sanyukta and Kaustaki didn't see anyone they went down and started to stroll around at the back of the halls of residence they came across two buildings, on taking a closer look they realised one was a very modern well equipped gym, towards the left they saw a basketball court, tennis court and what looked like a medium sized football pitch, the other building was closed but after poking their nose in they figured it was the canteen.
"This place is really something" said Kaustaki.
As Sanyukta and Kaustaki walked back around towards their buliding they heard group of students laughing a d making noise outside Almond Drake. Almond Drake was halls especially for boys whereas BlueBell was for girls. Parkside was the building furthest away from theirs. It was especially for international students and those who had come over for exchanged programmes. They shake their heads and laugh at the antics of boys making their way back.
Here, Sanyukta was taking her own sweet time in knowing her surroundings while on the other side Randhir and Jiggy was on their way towards his halls. Similarly like Sanyukta Randhir and Jiggy were also allocated same room surprisingly which was on the fourth floor, room no. 400.
Randhir's room was almost similar to that of Sanyukta's but a little different considering the design layout of BlueBell a d Almond Drake. Randhir chiseled the bed in the corner of the room as usual preferring his solitude. He quickly finishes settling his things up. He knows there is a very well modern-equipped gym but still he brought a punching bag with him which hum infront a little further away from his bed, incase he didn't left much time for gym.
After giving a quick look around in his room, he headed towards the suit bathroom to freshen up a a bit and then have a little tour around the halls with Jiggy.
All the while when Randhir was setting his things up Jiggy was watching him with a sad smile while simultaneously doing his own work. He didn't mind bu Randhir not talking to him calmly or sometimes ignoring him coz he knows what a great person he is. He admit he knows nothing much about Randhir's past, only how his Dad and Mother was but he respects him even more of how has Randhir endured it all alone and not letting anyone know about his pain.
His thoughts were broken by a sound of clicking fingers which was made by Randhir who was standing infront calling him for like five minutes.
"Hello earth to Jiggy, kahan kho gaya?" asked Randhir.
"Kahi nai bhai...bas aise hi, aap bolo aapko kuch kaam tha?" asked Jiggy quickly setting his things.
"Haan, main bas halls ka tour lene ja raha tha...tu chalega?" asked Randhir.
"Uh...Haan main bas freshen up hoke aata hun, aap chaliye"
Randhir nodded and went out of the room. He was standing waiting for the lift when Jiggy suddenly appeared infront of him surprising him a little earning a glare from him in return while Jiggy moved aside muttering a sheepish 'sorry'.
They both made their way around the buildings in front of them simultaneously learning about them and there names BlueBell, Almond Drake and Parkside through Jiggy reading out from the rules and regulations Manual. They also came across the closed building which was canteen and one modern hi-tech gym and other a large basketball, tennis court and a medium sized football pitch.
Both Randhir and Jiggy seem to be happy knowing the place where they would spend the part of their life and were also willing to discover more.
