Scene 1: Ankur Hi there. Before I start things, I want to say that I'm usually not this straightforward. I am a business man. And in business...well, not everything is the truth. But I can tell you the truth now since I've gone through this and I'm done.
Anyways, I'm Ankur. Ankur Mehta. I came to Mumbai to fulfill one purpose: to start my own business. Now, I'm actually a very educated guy. I did my MBA like dad wanted, but when he heard my business idea...he slapped me. That slap left my cheek pink for a whole week. What was my idea? I wanted to start a shoe company. Not just any shoe company. I wanted to take athletic footwear to the next level. I had so many great ideas. And dad didn't like them. And mom...she just keeps mum. So I left Gujarat, vowing to my dad that I wouldn't come back till I started my business.
Its been two years. And...no luck. All these idiots don't see my vision! So now...just so I can have a decent living in the city...I work at Bandra Central Bank. All I do is sit there, dealing with people's bank accounts when I care about my OWN money. Now...you may think I'm greedy. Well, I guess I am. And I'm not ashamed to admit it. Anyways, I'm so bored working here when I could be handling my business. But for that...I needed money. Which I didn't have. At least enough to cover my every day living.
I came home from work every day at around seven in the evening. I lived in a small flat next door to a neighbor who always makes me try her pitiful excuse for breakfast every morning.
I came home from work, tired as ever. I sat down and made myself a drink. Yes, I drink! I've never gotten drunk though. Except at this one party where I drank so much vodka that I had to be carried to my room. Anyways, right when I was about to have my drink, I got a call from work. It was my boss, who called for a small party at his house. It was Friday night. I was bored. So I said I'll come.
I went to the party, dressed as nice as I could look and sat around by myself, observing my surroundings. My co-workers were just sitting around socializing. I was keeping my eyes glued on the gorgeous ladies that were standing nearby. But no one noticed me. Just then, my ears caught the sounds of an interesting conversation.
"Your cousin borrowed Rs.15 lakhs from the bank...just for his business?!" my boss asked one of the employees.
"Yes! And now he's doing well! The set up is great and he's making big money!" the employee replied.
BIG MONEY. Those words caught my attention. It was those very words and that conversation itself that formed a light bulb in my head. That's right. I had an idea.
August 1st: With July over, I set off with my plan. The party had ended around midnight and I went home quickly. I got a big brown bag, my black jacket, black gloves,a black ski mask and my bike. I rode down the streets which were vacant during this time. I made my way to the bank. I stopped my bike near the entrance, taking my ID away so I could avoid suspicion. I entered inside the bank with my ID. And here I was...ready to make my move.
Now as horrible as this was...it was for my business. Since I was an employee at the bank, I was able to use my ID to enter the bank safe. And there I saw...all the money stashed in multiple stacks. I wanted to take every last stack. But I knew...that I couldn't be that stupid. I opened my brown bag and began to put stacks of money inside. I put around Rs. 25 lakhs in the bag. This would be enough to start my business from scratch. Now, what was I going to do next? I was planning to escape the bank, go back to my house and get my things and then go to the train station and take the next train to Delhi where I would start my business.
I left the safe, locking it. And then, I made my way out of the bank. Everything was going smoothly...until the guards came back on duty. They saw me the minute I got near my bike. "STOP!" one of them shouted. I pushed my bike near them, putting them off the side. I started to run with the guards on my tail. I tried to go around, finding a safe place to go. I made it to the alley where the guards passed, not seeing me. There, I saw an abandoned car nearby. That's when I thought...this would be my getaway! I quickly got in the drivers seat of the car. I took off my ski mask, putting it on the seat next to mine. When I had turned, that's when I noticed something. I turned around...and right there...was a girl.
