Chapter 10:
"So, yahaan achaanak kaise aana hua?" asked Swayam handing a glass of water to Vishesh.
"Woh actually, main Taani ko lene aaya tha taake hum dono saath mein Jodhpur jaa sake kal" replied Vishesh squeezing Taani's hand.
Swayam gave a questioning look to Taani.
"Haan bhai, main jaa rahi hoon kal" confirmed Taani.
Rey's POV
I stood there wishing that I was not there. The last thing I wanted to see was Vishesh and Taani together. Don't get me wrong, of course I wanted to see her happy, but seeing her sit so close to someone else, I just did not have the heart to do that. I tried to escape as soon as I saw Vishesh hugging Taani but my damn pen drive was still with Swayam and my best friend suggested that I should take it now. Couldn't he understand how awkward I would feel seeing Taani and Vishesh together? He obviouslt thinks that I have moved on and Taani means nothing to me. Well that is definitely not the case.
End of POV
"Swayam, woh pen drive..." hinted Rey.
"Oh haan, sorry, bhool gaya" said Swayam and went to his room to get Rey's pen drive.
Just then, Rey's phone began to ring. He excused himself and went to the kitchen to answer the phone. He had a good 15 minute talk on the phone and by that time, Vishesh had already left to go to his house.
"Swayam woh dad ka phone aaya tha. Woh last week hi London se aaye hai aur chahte hai ke main unse Bangalore milne jaaon toh mujhe kal subah hi nikalna honga" explained Rey.
Swayam sighed. "Ajeeb hai. Kal subah tum chale jaaonge aur afternoon mein Taani. Acha theek hai, main rehearsals aur sab yahaan sambhaal lunga, tu fikar matt kar."
Swayam's phone began to ring and he made a scared face as he saw the caller ID.
"Chal jaldi phone utha, warna teri Siren phir se shuru ho jaayengi" teased Rey.
Rey and Taani gave a light laugh at Swayam's face who picked the phone up and raced backwards to his room, waving 'bye' to Rey.
"So, I guess this is it. Ab pataa nahin hum kab milenge" said Rey turning towards Taani.
"Hmmm...Rey ek baat puchu?" asked Taani.
"Tum jaanti ho na Taani, tum mujhse kuch bhi keh sakti ho" said Rey giving a small smile.
"Aap mera promise nibha rahe ho na?" she asked giving a questioning look.
Rey went into flashback to the time he promised her that he will move on and always stay happy. If he was honest then no, he did not fulfill his promise.
"Tum mujhe trust karti ho na?" asked Rey. Taani nodded positively.
"Toh phir? Acha yeh sab senti baatein band karo. Tum jaanti ho na ke main kitna emotional insaan hoon" said Rey rubbing his cheeks and sniffing loudly, pretending to cry.
Taani plastered a huge smile on her face and hit Rey lightly on his chest.
"Rey! Aap na, bohut bade nautanki ho!" cried Taani.
"Acha abhi mujhe jaan chahiye" suggested Rey.
He hesitated for a moment but finally took the action he wanted to take. He leaned forward towards Taani and embraced her tightly. He was unsure if he took the right action but felt a sense of happiness when he felt her hands being tightly wrapped around his torso. They stayed in that position for a long moment and then finally broke the hug. Rey placed his hand on Taani's head and caressed her hair with care. "Take care" he said before turning around to exit out of the house.
~Next morning in college~
"Swayam, Vishesh abhi tumhaare ghar pe hai kya?" asked Sharon, leaning towards the floor whilst doing a stretch.
"Nahi, uss ki family ke paas yahaan Mumbai mein ek ghar hai. Taani bhi abhi uss ke saath hai aur woh dono aaj hi Jodhpur chale jaayenge" informed Swayam.
"Not fair yaar. Do din nahin hue usse aaye aur jaane ki baat kar rahi hai" said Rinni in a grim tone.
"Aur Rey bhi chala gaya" added Vicky.
"Hey guys, whats up?!" said an enthusiastic voice coming from the rehearsal hall door.
"REY?!" everyone exclaimed gathering around him.
"Tu aaj subah choomantar hone waala tha toh yahaan kaise aa gaya?!" asked Nil, amazed to see him unexpectedly.
"Arre main aaj subah hi jaane waala tha lekin I thought ke afternnon mein jaana better honga" explained Rey.
"Acha hai na dude, ab tum Taani se milke jaa sakte ho" spoke Simmi.
"Taani ko milne kab jaane waale ho tum log?" asked Rey.
"Hum log 5 baje Taani ko milne jaayenge Vishesh ke ghar pe phir woh dono wahi se chale jaayenge" explained Swayam.
"Lekin main toh 3 baje nikalne waala hoon" said Rey.
A few hours later...
All were sweaty because of rehearsals so they gang sat on the rehearsal hall floor for some time.
Swayam went to pull out a bottle of water from his bag but instead, a medicine box came in his hand.
"Kya hua Swayam?" asked Sharon.
"Main Taani ko uss ke vitamin tablets dena bhool gaya" spoke Swayam worriedly. "And we all know ke Taani ki tabet kitni asaani se kharaab ho sakti hai."
The entire gang heard the conversation between Swayam and Sharon.
"Swayam main abhi nikalne hi waala hoon. Raaste mein Taani ko yeh davaai de dunga. Bas Vishesh ka address de mujhe" assured Rey.
Going to give Taani her medicines meant seeing Taani and Vishesh together again. Something which he was avoiding but this was the matter of his love's health.
'Rey, this is why you are such a sweetheart. Aap sab ka kitna khayal rakhte hai. I'm sure agar Taani ki jagah Aashi bhi hoti toh bhi aap aisa hi karte. I hope ke aap mujhe uss din ki galti ke liye maaf kar chuke hai. I know aap mujhse zyaada der ghussa nahin reh sakte' thought Kriya blushing.
"Bye Rey" said Kriya before Rey headed out of the door.
"Bye" replied Rey in a forceful tone, trying not to sound rude.
Go there, give Taani her medicines then get out! Rey repeated this in his head several times. He did not want to make things harder for her like he did in her engagement. After half an hour, Rey reached the address given to him by Swayam.
He hesitantly walked to the door and just when he was about to knock...
'Suno ik thi kaanch ki gudiya, suno ik thi pyaar ki pudiya, sadke, uss pyaar ke'
Rey heard someone singing this song in a low yet creepy tone. The voice belonged to Vishesh but when did he start to sound this monotone?
He curiously peaked through the small window on his left.
There he saw Vishesh standing in front of Taani who had her gaze on the floor. The thing that could be seen in his eyes was not love or hatred. It was obsession.
Vishesh walked in circles around Taani in a slow pace as he continued.
"Tumhe toh yeh gaana bohut pasand honga na, after all, tumhaare aashiq ne issi gaane pe tumhaare liye dance kiya tha. The one and only, Reyansh Singhania jo abhi sirf tumhaari wajeh se zinda hai. Lekin pataa nahin ab kab tak zinda rahenga" he spoke with an evil grin on his face.
Tears started to stream out of Taani's eyes.
"Nahin Vishesh!" begged Taani. "Tum ne promise kiya tha ke tum Rey ko kuch nahin karonge."
Anger could clearly be seen in his eyes as he smashed a vase from the table onto the floor.
"Nafrat karta hoon main usse! Usne mujhse meri Taani cheene ki koshish ki thi!"
Vishesh turned to Taani and pointed his finger at her.
"Just remember one thing Taani Shekhawat, tum sirf meri ho! Agar humaare beech woh Reyansh Singhania aaya toh..." he paused for a second before completing his sentence."...maar daalunga usse!"
Rey was literally frozen to his place. He did not believe what he just saw. His Taani is going through all this just to protect him? Tears started streaming down his eyes and he was raging with anger, wishing he could kill Vishesh that very moment. But he knew, if he wanted to make things better for good, then he would have to take his decisions wisely. After that, he can beat the crap out of Vishesh.
After a few minutes, the door creaked open and out came Taani after giving Vishesh the excuse that she had forgotten something at her bhai's house. Surprisingly, he let her go but obviously not without giving her a warning.
Rey moved to the side making sure Taani does not notice him. Taani hired a rickshaw and Rey followed her to Swayam's house, determined to get answers from her.
How was it? 😕...I really don't think this chapter was good.
