I seriously have no words to describe what an amazing story this is!
It doesn't look like its being written by a 16 year old! ;)
I would have told u more.. But my laptop isn't in working order..

Chapter IV

Understanding

After hours of wandering in the dark, the sudden light was almost blinding.

She blinked to clear her vision. Trees surrounded them on all sides, their branches forming a canopy high above their heads. Sunlight filtered through the leaves making them shine green and gold. The place had a timeless feel about it, an elegance. It seemed cut off from the rest of the world.

Randhir was standing a few feet away with his back to her, but the relaxed set of his shoulders had her thinking he was just as affected by this place as she was. Minutes passed but neither of them uttered a word. Usually, they would be at each others throats by then. She wondered why today was different.

She hated to break the silence, but she was being practical. "So?" she asked. He turned around and looked at her, a tiny crease between his eyes. She had the insane urge to smooth it down, but she ruthlessly crushed it down hoping her face depicted none of her thoughts. Trust her brain to run amok when she most needed to stay sane and focused.

He had a faraway look in his eyes that he sometimes got when he was thinking about lots of things at once. She could relate. Her mind was one whirling mess. "What is this place doing here?" he mused out loud. She thought back to the scribbles on the walls, stacks of papers placed unstrategically along the walls. "He was looking for something." she whispered. His head snapped up, his eyes boring into hers. "Parth told me that Professor Rao was on the verge of a breakthrough on whatever it was he was working on, before he was attacked."

"Parth told you that?" she asked him, taken aback. He hadn't. Randhir just happened to have heard him talking to Vardhan Sir, but he didn't feel the need to tell that to Sanyukta. "Uh, yeah. Something like that." he muttered. She let it pass - another first.

"So this is where he was working on it?" she asked. He shook his head, mystified. "If he was, and the killer" he shot her an amused look at that point, " knew about this place, he didn't have to risk coming to Professor Rao's room and attack him. He could have stolen all the research papers from here, with no one ever finding out. He was working on it in secret, only a select few knew of it."

Sanyukta thought back to the letter she had found. It definitely wasn't part of a research project. It was much too personal, and much to important. That much she knew. The letter had been torn in half - someone had taken the rest of it. Why? Why would anyone care for the letter if they wanted to steal his research?

"Or maybe it was vengeance." she told him, her mind racing with the possibilities. "Something more personal. Jealousy? Hatred? Envy?" Randhir's clouded expression began to clear. "That explains why all those papers are still there. Why that place hasn't been ransacked when his room was. Why someone would risk entering the college premises and discovery."

Both of them looked at each other, one look and they both knew that they were thinking of the same thing. They rushed towards the trapdoor at the same time, pushing and holding on to each other as they tried to get down before the other.

After a lot of tripping and yelling and cursing later, they found themselves back in the strange room, Sanyukta in the lead, smiling triumphantly. She stuck her tongue out at him and turned away only to stop dead in her tracks. Behind her, she heard Randhir's sharp intake of air.

In a place that only they were supposed to know about, they were not alone.

It's tiny, but I was hoping to clear a little up, so it's easier for everyone to catch on. I've got the story planned out in my head, so obviously I don't know what I might miss ^.^'

And now can I see from where that mind of your works and get such ideas. DC definitely taught you a lot 😆
You, girl, have this natural sense of elegant writing which leave me awestruck every freaking time. Though I am a lazy ass as not to comment on your other works, I love them all to bits. Now I love you even more (Yeah, without knowing you at that.) for you'e a DC fanatic too.
How much I was grinning like a cheshire cat thinking I have got a mystery to unravel :P
Hopefully that someone is either Parth or Vidushi.
