Part 15

Buaji's sudden confession that she had given an idea for Arnav and Khushi to get married for the sake of Palak became a matter of discussion over the table. Though both Arnav and Khushi were not a part of it, the family still didnt ignore this situation. They were surprised how they couldnt see this necessity before. It was so true that Khushi will have to get married to someone a day and then what will happen to her and Palak's relationship ? Buaji was told everything about what she missed knowing in Khushi's stay here at Shantivan.

Buaji was surprised to know the fact that Arnav confessed he had some liking for Khushi. But what was important at the moment was Khushi's approval to that liking. And she thought of talking to her tonight and trying to feed some advise in her mind.

Khushi: Buaji you have no idea what is happening here. Only because Mr Raizada broke his engagement with Lavanyaji doesnt mean I will marry him. Our thoughts, status, dreams , likes , nothing matches.

Buaji: But there is one thing which is a perfect match for both of you Khushi. How could you forget that?

Khushi was silent,

Buaji; And that is Palak's responsibility. You both are her Caretaker's Khushi. Even one of you getting back from this responsibility will lead a major change in Palak's life. How can you afford that to happen?

Khushi's head was spinning by now.

Buaji: Look Sankadevi. I dont know what you feel for Arnav babua but all I could know him in these days is that he is not a bad man. He may have different thoughts about life and relationships but he will never cheat anyone. He had feelings for you and he could have wished to give it a name but he had promised Lavanya for marriage which he didnt stop until he came to know what her true intentions were. And even now he isnt forcing you for marrying him. Thats sign of being a good gentleman. Take your time to decide no one here will force you to respond in a day or two.

Buaji had advised her what was right but Khushi was not satisfied. She came down in search of Palak and from Hari Prakash she got to know Palak was with Arnav in his room. Once again situation was demanding her to face him. She knocked the room door and came inside. Palak was sitting on the bed playing with the toys whereas Arnav was working right beside her on his laptop ensuring he keeps Palak entertained too by talking to her and playing in between.

Seeing Khushi inside Palak started hopping on bed with joy . Arnav and Khushi saw each other and then she came towards the bed . She tried to pick Palak but she was not willing to go from here. All Palak wanted was to play with both her Maasi and Chachu which seemed to be impossible until the Maasi agreed to become her Chachi too. Palak started crying when Khushi was not allowing her to be here.

Arnav: Stop it Khushi. Dont make her cry. She wants to play here.

Khushi: You work Mr Raizada. I will play with her in my room.

She was again trying to take Palak when Arnav stopped her and got up from the bed.

Arnav: What is your problem huh? Why are you taking my frustration out on her?

Khushi : Because I cant take it on you. Everyone here thinks I am doing wrong. Does anyone even realise what I am going through ? All I am asking for is Assurance that my life partner will be honest and stay with me for my entire life. Not like someone who changes his decisions with time.

Arnav : What do you mean Khushi? Be clear .

Khushi : It may hurt you Mr Raizada . You already have done enough favours on us. I dont want you to get pricked by my words.

Arnav: I said be clear Dammit.

He screamed on top of his voice making her move some steps back in fear.

Khushi: What you feel for me Mr Raizada, I noticed it since the time we met in Lucknow. The way you stared at me, interfered in my works, showed over concern for me and Palak, everything was hinting me only to one fact and that was you liked me, But Then I realised this was all superficial. A man who is engaged to someone cannot have the right to fall for another girl and if he ever does, its only his dishonesty. The day I heard you telling Lavanyaji that you are attracted to me and this can never extend to any other relationship, my heart felt a stab , not because I wanted you to marry me, but because the image you had created in my mind and heart was broken and I could see the real MAN in you who only knows to fall for a girl's charm . I am not that high society girl who can accept such relationships with a man who is already dating someone Mr Raizada and thats why I ignored you. But your attraction towards me never faded.. It kept on increasing, even when Lavanyaji was in your life and even now when she isnt there in this house anymore.

Arnav finally had to shed his ego to show this girl what the real truth was.He cannot take unncessary blames on his character anymore. She doesnt wish to get married to be, so be it. But he will not want to spoil the respect they both shared at some point of time.. He caught her hand and pinned her to the Wall behind.

Arnav: Yes I am attracted to you Miss Gupta. More than you can ever imagine. Your innocence in handling a baby like Palak, your strength of not giving up your values, your courage of fighting for your rights, your respect for the people who never accepted your sister in their family, your willingness to earn for the child even though you know it will never be sufficient and comparable to the money that I can spend on her, everything attracts me to you. If you think its only a Physical desire that I want from you, then correct yourself before its too late.

His grip on her wrist was painful and she knew it was unintentional because he would never hurt her to this extent anytime. She was just reading his mind behind the lines which he uttered today.

Arnav: Marriage was never my choice not because I fear binding to someone for lifetime, but because I dont trust such eternal relationships. I hardly doubted if such bonds even existed until I saw you and Palak together, the two Angels in my life who actually made me feel the strength of a blissful relation.

Angels? That word caught her attention.

Arnav: Even if you never gave birth to Palak, you didnt leave one single opportunity to fulfil everything that she always needed.Your love, care, concern, you dedicated everything to that soul who hardly even knows you arent her mother. My Attraction to you started from the time I came to know the bond between you and Palak. Since Jeff found the whereabouts of you and informed me how you denied handing her Custody to me, I realised there was something big that you shared with the baby and hence cannot leave her away from you. I agree this attraction kept on increasing even when Lavanya was my Fiancee but I have tried my best to keep a control over it, except one time where we both lost in playing Palak's parents and I kissed you.

Khushi felt a little uncomfortable remembering that moment.

Arnav: Only because Lavanya is out of my life now, its not that I am dying to marry you Miss Gupta. I am just thinking it for Palak's benefit. Know why? Then come here.

He dragged her towards the cupboard and opening a drawer he took a file out. He showed it to her.

Arnav: When Akash left the house 3 years back, Maama and Maami had denied any of their property to him because he went against their wishes and got married to Payal. Now though the situations have changed and they can change their will, but Akash is no longer alive to accept it and Palak is too small to even acknowledge everything. Someone has to adopt her legally to ensure what she deserves is passed on to her name . I know money means nothing to you Khushi but this is needed for Palak's bright future. We all want to see her happy and getting the best in life. I can adopt her using all my contacts and be a single parent but will she really be happy with it? Wont she demand a mothers love going forward? She will. And there is no one who can love her as a mother more than you . But you cant risk a life with a dishonest man like me right? SO everything stops here. The chapter of adoption is closed. You and I will stay as her caretakers forever. Thats all. Whatever help is needed in giving her the rights of being a part of this family will be taken care by me some other way. YOu dont have to think much. May be a day will come when you will have a perfect marriage proposal for you and thats when you go through the same condition I am going now. May be then you will realise how important it is that we shed everything off between us and help Palak get a proper life.

She was shocked with these sudden revelations from Arnav who left her in his room and went out. She saw Palak once who was looking at her with a disappointed expressions. Even these few months old baby could know there was something wrong between her two favourite people. Khushi came to her and took her in embrace. She kissed her forehead and Palak's cheeks hurridly and mumbled a Sorry to her. She was sorry for everything she was accidently about to do with Palak's future. She hugged the baby again and remained like that for some more time in his room.

The morning Puja was been done by Anjali and the other family members . Khushi joined it too with Palak in her arms who had just woken up . Arnav was forcibly made to attend the Puja and then leave for work so he too couldnt avoid he. The Puja was over and Nani started distributing the Prasad to everyone. Khushi and Arnav both took the Prasad and the first thing they both did was taking a small pinch of the same and feeding it to Palak. She was confused when two hands reached her small lips thinking whom should she make happy first by eating it. Arnav and Khushi glanced at each other while the other chuckled seeing this scene. Arnav moved his hand behind allowing Khushi to feed. Palak licked Khushi's finger and then Arnav's too when he fed her. He was leaving now when Khushi suddenly stopped him.

Khushi: I need your few minutes Mr Raizada before you leave for work. Its. Its about Palak.

Arnav: Go ahead.

The family thought of giving them time and privacy and were about to go when Khushi stopped them too .

Khushi : I thought a lot last night and I think you all are right . For Palak's sake, I am ready to get married to Mr Raizada, whenever he wishes.

Arnav almost skipped a beat and kept on admiring her face. Did she really say that or were his ears ringing? Palak though was too young to understand still there was a smile on her face and she kissed her Maasi on her cheeks with joy.
