"It's pretty simple, pretty obvious; that people's first impressions of people are really a big mistake." - Vincent D'onofrio

Chapter 4
Impressions

New institution, new place, new people.
And yet one thing remained the same.
Me, he sighed.
He was the same he had always been.
Hollow... empty.
Like he had no life... which was true in a way. He didn't live. He knew he couldn't. He merely existed.
And there was pretty much nothing that could happen now which would change him. He was stuck... inside himself. There was no escaping.

After feeling pathetic for a few seconds, he tried thinking about the better things.
He had a set of parents who loved him, a pair of siblings who cared for him, a group of friends, who despite knowing how messed up he was, were still sticking around... and shitloads of money, thanks to their efficient business oriented family. Most people didn't even have half of this.
I should be grateful, he tried convincing himself. Though, he actually felt undeserving.

This was probably as close to happy as he was ever going to get. Lying on his new bed with his hands behind his head, he sighed heavily again.

"Kya soch rha hai?" Nikhil asked.

"Nothing." he said without looking up.
Nick didn't ask him anything further. He didn't need to. Nobody knew his 'nothings' better than Nick.

They had just had dinner and returned to the Boys' Dormitory of the South Tower. The food here was quite good. But the curious looks and annoying stares followed everywhere.

People always went crazy over fresh meat in the market. I couldn't care less.

Each room had seven people as per rule. Nick and Karan were in his room. And though he would never admit that in front of them, he was glad. Having them by his side made things seem... normal. Nick was listening to music on his I-pod, which Randhir had gifted him his last birthday and Karan was talking over to his girlfriend from Delhi. There were other roommates too. There was this guy who had been waiting outside the sick room for the fainter with such a scared expression as if it was his pregnant wife in there or something. One of his friends from there was in the room too. There was another guy who was probably new like them. He looked so lost and scared. It was almost comical. But Randhir empathised. Being all alone in a new, huge place like this must be scary. Dehradun wasn't entirely new to him. He had been here several times. It was their parents' home town and also... Randhir quickly broke this chain of thoughts. He didn't want to think about all that crap now. Besides, he had Nick and Karan... And then there was Jignesh. This guy had followed him here as well. Randhir looked over at his sleeping figure under the blankets. They had been class mates in St. Laurels and ever since Jignesh knew them he had been desperately trying to befriend them and get included in their group. And failed. In Laurels he was his classmate, now would have to bear him in his room too.

"Listen up Randhir!" Karan shouted from across the room, disturbing the perfect silence "Richa gives you her looove from Delhi!" He was snickering. All the other guys in the room looked up. Randhir just rolled his eyes. Richa was Karan's girlfriend's best friend who had been trying to trap him into a relationship for ages. Randhir scowled. Some things from Delhi, he would never miss.

Just then his phone flashed. Riddhi.

"Bhaiya!" she spoke in her ever enthusiastic voice.
"Kya? Itni der se call kar rha hoon! Kisse baat kar rhi thi itni late?" Randhir was annoyed. He needed to make sure that she was alright and she always kept the phone lines engaged. He had literally gone crazy thinking about who this girl was talking to at this time in the night.
"Wo actually..."
"Kaun tha? Bol. Mansi aur Nimisha ko tu yahan apne saath utha ke laayi hai... toh phir kisse-"
"Arre! Preeti ka phone tha! Wo usse-" Randhir, satisfied that it wasn't any guy, ignored the rest.
"Room me theek se settle ho gyi? Koi problem toh nhi hui? Are your roommates alright?" Randhir had been worried for her ever since he had left her in the inter campus all alone.
Riddhi chuckled.
"Haan bhaiya!" Randhir could almost hear her rolling her eyes. "You saw me last, about one and a half hours back." she chuckled again. "Roommates kaise honge? Just six girls my age. Sab theek hai... aap batao aapka room kaisa hai? And the campus? Inter ke campus se bada hai kya?"

Randhir was partially relieved. She sounded happy. She was fine.
"Hmm.. ab bahot late ho gya hai. So jaa." Randhir ordered.
"Par bhaiya... mujhe neend nhi aa rhi-"
"Phone pe baat karegi toh kaise neend aayegi?! Go to sleep. Its late."
"Haan par you know hum soch rhe the ki laptop pe ek movie-"
"Riddhima Singh Shekhawat, you will do as you are told and go to sleep. No movies and no talking on the phone." Randhir said firmly.
"Fine! You didn't have to use mom's tone." She huffed.
"11th standard is no joke. You have to concentrate. After your 96 percentage in 10th boards you don't want your performance to deteriorate do you?"
"Yeah..." she replied slowly. "Fine... I guess I'll sleep then. But you have to take me to the nearby theater this weekend then! Okay?"
Randhir smiled. Riddhi... he liked to believe that she was his personal sunshine. The only source of sunshine in his dark life.
"Hmm... Go to sleep." He said again, softer this time.
"Okay okay... goodnight bhaiya." He heard her chuckle and it made him smile again.
"Night."

Randhir was still worried though. How would she probably live all by herself in this hostel? She didn't have any experience living in a boarding school. She was so naive and innocent and...

"Don't get yourself worked up yaar... she'll be fine." Nick said, cutting his thoughts.
"Hmm.."
"You know her. She's headstrong and careful. Besides it's just the campus opposite the quad. And, it's the same institution. We can see them whenever we want to. Even I was worried for Nimi earlier. But this place is great. And they along with Mansi will be there for each other." Nikhil and Nimisha were siblings.

"Yeah that's fine. But unlike Nimisha, Riddhi has always been so dependent on us. She has never lived all by herself..."
"Bro, you are to blame for that! You have spoilt her silly!" Nikhil laughed and further added "Besides, even we haven't lived in a hostel yet. Perhaps this is for the best. All's gonna be great. Relax."

Randhir decided that he needed to stop over thinking. He had been really angry when his little sister had insisted that she wanted to come to MCA along with him, but now when he thought about it, he concluded that it was all for the best. Delhi was their home, but Mom and Dad were mostly occupied and Bhai was in Mumbai. He hated to think of her all alone in their big house. At least she'll be close enough. And he'll be here for her.

"His friends are really cute too!"
"Yeah both the guys! But I liked the taller one, the one wearing the blue t-shirt."
"What? No. I liked the other one."
Sanyukta rolled her eyes heavenward. Ela and Tami were sitting on her bed with her.
"You know I've heard his sister has joined here too."
"Really? Kisne bataya?" Sanyukta asked, interested.
"Heard some girls talking." Ela said.
"Is she one of the girls who were sitting with him?" Tami asked.
"Don't think so... she is younger perhaps. Maybe in the intermediate campus."
"Hmm... wonder what stream he is into."
"Well whatever it is... I'm not doing it." Said Sanyukta.
"Par Kyun?!"
Sanyukta hissed in irritation.
"Arre yaar! Ek thankyou hi toh bolna hai!" Ela exclaimed
"Nhi.. please. Mujhe usse baat nhi karni."
"Kyun? Itna accha excuse hai tere paas usse baat karne ka! Common Sanyu!"
"Chhod na yaar! Usse toh yaad bhi nhi hoga... ki kaun si ladki thi..."
"Tujhe toh yaad hai na!"
"It's decided. Tomorrow you will go and thank him for saving your life."
"My life?!" Sanyukya scoffed. "What happened to me wasn't life threatening! I fainted. People faint." She shrugged her shoulder indifferently.
"You have to admit that if he hadn't caught you, you wouldn't be here chatting with us. You would probably be in the hospital wing with a plaster on your head and quite possibly, memory loss." Sanyukta raised her eyebrows, her expression mocking. She was about to say something when Tami spoke again. "You have to do it Sanyu! Common!!"
"No." Sanyukta said point blank. Tami raised her arms in exasperation.
"Why? Does he scare you?" asked Ela, seriously.
Sanyukta was taken aback. "No. Just... something about him just tells me to stay away."
"Par-" Just then Ela interrupted Tami by nudging her.

She looked to the entry way of the dorm. Sanyukta and Tami turned.
Pr. Vijaya Pillai, one of their teachers was standing with a new girl. One of Randhir Shekhawat's friends. She was round faced, skinny and about Ela's height and was wearing capris and a tank top. Her eyes were lined by thick eyeliner and kohl. She had her hands filled with funky looking bracelets and she was carrying a huge bag over her shoulder. Just then another girl rushed inside. She didn't see the teacher at first and just continued walking in when she realized everyone, including mam, was staring at her. Startled for a second, she recovered.

"Sorry! I didn't see... I thought..." the girl's voice was heavily accented and she looked distinct. She was very fair and had small eyes which were spectacled. She perhaps, came from the north east. Both the girls standing there made a striking contrast. Not because of their clothing, though the spectacled girl was wearing a lace top and jeans, which was quite different from the other, but mostly because of their body language. Randhir's friend had his similar confident and indifferent attitude. Whereas, the other girl looked really nervous.

"That's okay." She replied coldly and then turned to the other new girl and smiled. She then looked at the girls in the room. "This is Latika Mehra. From now on she'll be staying here in the North Tower with you all. Make her feel welcome." She smiled at her again. The girl didn't look all that impressed. Ela whispered "She is definitely some important bloke's daughter. Why else do you think any teacher would take the pain and come up all the way just to introduce her to us!"

Latika smiled at the teacher, but it looked forced. The other new girl stood there expectantly. "Mam, I'm Kaustukhi Sherpa." She was probably expecting the teacher to introduce her to the girls too, but mam merely nodded. Her face fell.
"Bechaari... Uska bhi intro kara deti." Sanyukta said in a low voice.
"Probably her dad isn't as special as this one's!" Tami said, her eyebrows raised and lips pursed.
The teacher heard them talking and her eyes flashed.
"Since when has this dorm become so crowded? Elakshi? Tamanna? Swati and Diksha? Get back to your rooms!" Pillai shouted at them. Usually all the students were supposed to be in bed by 9:30. But the school hadn't picked up the routine yet. All the teachers hadn't returned. It was only the first day. Ela, Tami and Swati and Diksha who were sitting with Sneha and Priyanka, silently went outside.
"Where are the other girls? Two more?" mam asked.
No one knew where were Tanvi and Ishika.
"This is brilliant. Two girls missing from their room at 9:30 in the night. I shall tell about this to Desai mam." With a huff she left the room.

Latika and Kaustukhi who had been standing by the door, entered the room. Latika checked her name on the bed beside Sanyukta's. She then looked for her luggage. Satisfied with everything, she looked up and smiled at Sanyukta. Her first genuine smile. Sanyukta smiled back. "Hi."
"Hi." Latika replied. After a moment she asked "Hey, aren't you the girl who fainted in the assembly this morning?"
Awesome. So now after Harry Potter, The Boy Who Lived', she was Sanyukta Agarwal, The Girl who fainted'.
She sighed.
"Yeah that's me."
"So... all okay now? What happened?" her expression was casual, but she sounded concerned.
"It was nothing. Just weakness you know."
"Oh. Hmm..." She paused and then added, "Well... Randhir ne bacha liya.." She smiled casually again, but her eyes twinkled and her tone was different.
Sanyukta didn't know why, but she blushed at those words. She cleared her throat and spoke.
"So... you know him?" Of course, Sanyukta had seen them sitting together at dinner and even exchange a few words, but she played dumb.
Latika laughed.
"Yeah I know him alright. We are friends for a long time." She said.
Sanyukta smiled. Just then, Kaustukhi from the bed next to Latika's, spoke timidly "Hi."
"Hi." replied both Sanyukta and Latika in unison. "Where you from?" Latika asked her.
"Tripura." She said.
"Quite obvious." Latika's eyes twinkled again. She was talking about Kaustukhi's looks and accent, but not in a derogatory manner. Kaustukhi smiled.
"Tum?" she asked Latika.
"Delhi. We're all from there. St. Laurels." There was pride in her voice. Sanyukta understood it. People always get attached to their schools. Even if they had to leave it behind them.

Latika and Kaustkhi were surprised to know that Sanyukta had been here for about 8 years. The other girls in the room did some small talk with the new girls too. Tanvi, Ishika finally came back. They had gone to the supermarket and on returning late, they had had some trouble with Sattu, the watchman.

Soon the new girls became slightly more comfortable. Latika was friendly and she liked talking. Kaustukhi on the other hand talked as well, but she was shy and didn't really interact with everyone much besides Sanyukta. Kaustukhi was here to do honours in Economics. A subject which Sanyukta had to study in her Bachelors of commerce with computers degree too. Latika was here to graduate in Bachelors of computer applications. So, they both had one common subject each with Sanyukta.

It was quite late and Sanyukta was still feeling not so great. She quickly took out her journal and began recording the events of day. It was quite a task to write about such an eventful day. She didn't write much about the assembly. Writing about it would mean reliving it, and she didn't even want to think about the incident or the person involving it. Ashok Rai, involuntarily the name flashed across her mind. No, don't think about him, she coached her brain. Thinking about him would provoke memories... and memories would cause pain. She began writing about a stranger instead. A stranger who had helped her. She didn't know anything about him except his name and what he looked like. She further jotted down things about her new roommates.

By the time she finished it was extremely late. She closed down her diary, hoping that tomorrow will be a better day and waited for sleep to engulf her.

"Hey? Sanyukta?"
Suddenly Sanyukta opened her eyes. She was sweating profusely.
"You okay?" It was Latika.
Sanyukta groaned mentally. Oh God, not again!
"Yeah.." she answered and sat upright. Her face was flaming red due to embarrassment.
"You looked scared... and you were like... breathing really fast..." Latika continued, uncertain.
"Nightmare." Sanyukta muttered. She murmured a thanks and dashed to the bathroom. She had the same nightmare again. It was nothing new to her... but off late these nightmares had stopped. What had prompted them again? Besides, this was so embarrassing. She didn't want her new roommates to think that she was some sort of psychotic person who fainted during assemblies and had random panic attacks in her sleep. She quickly brushed her teeth and had bath. Wrapping herself in her bathrobe she returned to her cubicle. It was only 7:00. Her stomach did somersaults for no particular reason. She felt excited and nervous at the same time. Classes from today. She took a deep breath. Her college had begun. She felt like making an effort to dress up well today, which was quite rare for her. She took out the white one-piece dress reaching down her knees and paired it with her dark blue shrug and white gliders. Her hair was still wet so she left it open. Just then she saw Latika emerge out of her cubicle. She was wearing jeans and a white and blue t shirt. "Hey! We match!" she said, laughing. Sanyukta laughed too. All the other girls were now almost ready. Kaustukhi looked at Sanyukta and smiled. "That's a really cute dress" she said.
"Thanks!"
"I wish you were in my class. Now I'll have to meet all new people again."
"Don't worry! You'll make friends. And besides even I have economics. Maybe we'll have the class together."
That cheered up Kaustukhi.

Together all the seven girls from their dorm descended down the stairs towards the North Tower common hall. Sanyukta met her other house mates there and after the warning bell all the students moved to the great hall.
Tami and Ela had been waiting for Sanyukta, but from a distance she noticed someone else was accompanying them. A new girl. But before Sanyukta could reach them, Latika pushed past her and darted across them.

"Hey! Tera room kaisa hai? Mine is quite good." she began chatting animatedly with the other new girl and suddenly Sanyukta realized that this was their friend. She was the other girl sitting with Randhir Singh Shekhawat last night.
"It's really good." She smiled kindly. She was wearing an orange dress with a brown belt. She was extremely pretty. She then looked at Sanyukta standing next to Tami and Ela.
"Waah!" Tami said, and immediately all five of them started laughing at the coincidence.
"Sanyu, this is Grace Wilson, our new roommate and Grace this is Sanyukta Agarwal, our best friend."
Sanyukta smiled and said a polite hi which Grace returned.
Latika didn't wait for Sanyukta to make the introductions.
"Hi, I'm Latika Mehra, Sanyukta's new roomie and Grace's old bestie!" she laughed again.

Sanyukta saw Kaustukhi standing in a corner all by herself. She quickly went to her and pulled her towards their group.

"Guys, this is Kaustukhi Sherpa. She's our new roommate too." Kaustukhi timidly waved at the girls and said hello. She smiled gratefully at Sanyukta.
"Common! Lets check the timetable and the teachers' slots. The crowd will make it impossible to see."

Sanyukta wasn't very worried. Ela and Tami were also doing Bcom with Computers as their decree. She would have their classes together. But Sanyukta had taken up an extra course this year. She was also about to pursue Chartered Accountancy. She had passed the entrance last fall and now she could begin this professional course. She would have to take extra classes and coaching for this.

And Ela was right. There was a lot of rush around the display board. Sanyukta, being the shortest wasn't able to see anything and she didn't dare get closer to the crowd. There were so many boys...

"What the hell is happening here?!"
The voice froze almost everyone present there. There was immediate silence in the corridor.
It was Vardhan Suryavanshi. Mount Carmel Academy's most intelligent and talked about teacher. He was one of the few teachers in MCA students were actually scared of.
"You are supposed to check your time tables and teachers' slots... not create a racket here! Some people unlike you all like to do productive work in peace! Behaving like bloody illiterates." He paused with his glasses in his hands.

None of the students dared to move.

"Form a line all of you. Do I need to tell you even that?" he looked really angry.
All the students, like automated robots formed single straight line within seconds.
"Bunch of uncivilized idiots..." he muttered and left the corridor wearing his glasses back.
There was a collective sigh when he exited. Vardhan sir was known to give detentions; drastic ones. They were saved this time.

Just then Sanyukta and the girls reached closer to the board. They all started scanning their subjects and the time slots and teachers. Sanyukta after checking her Bcom teachers and time slots, started looking for her IPCC time tables. After finally placing it, she gulped.

INTEGRATED PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE COURSE:

LAW - CLASSROOM: 48 (3RD FLOOR )
PERIOD: 5th (11:45 - 12:30)
TEACHER: VARDHAN SURYAVANSHI

"We'll begin with the basics. First we need to understand..."
Vijaya Pillai was their management teacher. Sanyukta, Ela and Tami were the least happy about it. They were sitting on the fifth bench of the last row and trying to understand and make notes. Sanyukta saw that Ela was distracted. She nudged her "What are you thinking about?"

"Just... Vaibhav. He'll be back tomorrow." She smiled. Vaibhav and Ela had been dating for the past five months. Tami was about to say something when a chalk hit her out of nowhere.
"Tamanna Qureshi, Sanyukta Agarwal and Elakshi Rao. If you three open your mouths again, I'll make sure the next time you speak, it'll be to beg Professor Desai not to suspend you. Do you hear me?"
The three nodded. Tami hadn't even spoken a word, but they knew there was no point in arguing with her.

This is what angered Sanyukta and her friends. Some teachers made things personal. They were biased towards some and hated others. These three had been in the bad books of quite a few teachers for obvious reasons. Sanyukta had voiced her thoughts on many occasions where she should have kept her mouth shut. She couldn't stand watching anyone being wronged and this made a few teachers think that she was opinionated and disrespectful.

Just then the bell rang. It was Economics class for all of them. They had to go to class 7. They reached to their respective lockers and exchanged books, when someone called Sanyukta from behind.
"Yoyo paaji! Hi!" Yoyo was their senior and had been so for years. He was stuck in his fourth year for quite some time now.
"Oh ji, paaji toh main ladko ke liye hoon ji. Aap teeno ke liye thodi!" he was everybody's friend in college. Everyone knew him, he knew everyone. Infact he even had his own group of admirers.
"Waise wo Sanyukta ji, wo.."
She noticed that Yoyo was still walking with them. She smiled at him.
"Kuch puchna hai aapko?"
"Oh ji Sanyukta ji... kitne acche se jaanti ho aap mujhe.." Sanyukta rolled her eyes and gestured him to carry on.
"Wo ji Sanyukta ji... wo na... wo ji... mujhe pyaar ho gaya hai..." he blurted out and blushed. Ela and Tami on her side, ooohed' and began giggling.
"Phir se?" Sanyukta scoffed.
"Oh ji... iss baar sacchi wala hua hai ji.."
"Phir se?" she repeated and they laughed again. Yoyo ignored her.
"Wo jo aapki wo nayi dost hai na... ji wo Kaustukhi. Ji badi hi khoobsurat hai... pehli nazar ka pehla pyaar ho gaya hai usse. Intro kara do ji..."

"Hey Sanyukta, listen!" It was Parth.
"Hey." Sanyukta smiled happy to see him.
"How are you now? Fine?" he asked her.
Sanyukta nodded. He then waved to Yoyo, Ela and Tami.
"Actually I needed to talk to you..." when he saw Ela and Tami's raised eyebrows he quickly added "Regarding tomorrow's special assembly.."
"Oh yeah.."
"You need to arrange the choir group, Nandita mam had asked me to remind you about that. Here's a list of girls and the instrument players.." He handed her the list and they began talking. Tomorrow was a special assembly in MCA where the Supreme Council would be announced. The President, Head Boy, Head Girl, House Captains will be announced by the teachers. It was a quite big deal in the academy. Supreme council members enjoyed many liberties and it also helped them with their grades. It was considered a huge thing to be a part of it.

Ela and Tami along with Yoyo excused themselves and left Sanyukta and Parth to discuss about tomorrow.
"Waise, there's no doubt that you'll be the South Tower House Captain." She told him.
"Lets see. I have worked for it." He looked nervous.
"Everyone knows they'll choose you. Its no big surprise! Stop being so modest!"
Parth laughed. It was the truth. It was pretty much decided that he would be the captain of South Tower for the next 4 years, that is, if he didn't become the President in his final year, which was quite possible too. Right now, he deserved the captaincy. There was no doubt about it. Sanyukta was happy for him.

After waving him goodbye Sanyukta realized how late she was! She hurried towards the class. She reached the entrance and was glad that the teacher hadn't arrived yet. She looked at Ela and Tami who had saved her a seat and was about to walk in when she noticed him. Randhir Singh Shekhawat. On the first bench of the corner most row.
One of his friends was sitting behind him with Vidushi.

"Why are you standing at the entrance? Waiting for someone Miss Agarwal?" It was Pr. Sreejita Bose. Their Eco mam.
"No, no mam... sorry."

She quickly made her way inside to one of the last row's corner seat where Ela and Tami were sitting.

"Sanyukta, sit on the first bench." It was mam.
Sanyukta shut her eyes in despair. Making students sit on the first bench was a way of unofficially punishing them in MCA. She turned around. It was clear which first bench she meant. There was only one place vacant on a first bench. Next to him. The entire class was suddenly looking up in interest.

"Is something wrong with you? Why do you keep freezing?" mam asked her.
"No- no mam." She answered hastily.
"Maybe she's about to faint again or something. Mam, perhaps we need to arrange for a guy to catch her." It was Vidushi in her fake innocent voice. She hadn't spoken loud enough for mam to hear, but a few students sitting behind her were laughing. Sanyukta wanted to shove her books inside her big mouth.

Mam looked up again. "Don't waste the time of the class. Settle down quickly."

All this while Randhir hadn't looked up once. He was staring determinedly at his book.

Sanyukta walked towards the bench, but instead of sitting gracefully as she had planned, her foot caught in the leg of the chair and she fell clumsily on her seat. She hastily put some distance between herself and him, as she felt his body stiffen.

Just then Grace entered the class.
"You are late." Mam told her.
"Sorry mam, I had to submit this to the college office." She showed mam some papers. She nodded and gestured her to take a seat. Her gaze fell on Sanyukta sitting with Randhir. For what seemed like a second, Sanyukta noticed disappointment flickering through her features before she smiled at them and moved behind to sit somewhere else.

Pr. Bose began her lecture. She was talking about the basics, things they had done previously. Just then Suresh the college help knocked the class door.
"Madam, wo Desai mam ne bulaya hai..."
She looked at the class. "You all will read this chapter and when I come back, I'll ask you questions." She said and sauntered out.

As soon as she went out all the students closed their books and began talking. Everyone except the one person sitting on Sanyukta's left. She looked at him. He was still reading.
She stared down at her own book. Something inside her told her that Ela and Tami were right, and that she actually needed to thank him. After a few minutes, Sanyukta finally mastered the courage to speak to him.

"Hi..." she said.
He didn't even look up. He merely shook his head in her direction.
How rude.
"I'm Sanyukta." She said. Nothing. She waited for him to introduce himself but he didn't even open his mouth. She could have been talking to the wall for all she knew. Since she had already begun this, she tried again. Praying to God that he hadn't forgotten all about it, she spoke.
"Wo... kal ke liye thanks... wo..."
Finally, he reluctantly lifted his head and looked at her. It was the first time their eyes had met. And Sanyukta was taken aback for a second by what she saw. His eyes were a deep shade of brown. Till then she had thought that usual brown eyes were flat and ordinary. But his were... different. His eyes held some kind of restrained emotion.
And then she noticed his expression. He looked almost angry and immediately Sanyukta panicked. He doesn't want to talk to me, she concluded mentally.
But then surprising her, he spoke, "Its okay... not a big deal."
His voice was grave, yet gentle and soft. But his tone matched his expression. He sounded impatient and annoyed. Sanyukta was mute. She couldn't comprehend why he was in such a foul mood.
To say something she replied, "Wo err... bacha liya tumne... agar kal... wo agar kal main gir jaati toh..." she continued sounding like an idiot when he suddenly stopped her.
"I told you, it's not a big deal... I was standing behind you. Agar tum girti toh mujhpe girti... had no other option but to hold you."
Sanyukta blinked. Couldn't he just say 'you are welcome' or 'mention not'? He sounded like he regretted saving her and Sanyukta couldn't help but feel the hurt build inside her. He didn't even bother looking at her. He was back to reading his text book. She heard him mutter something under his breath which sounded a lot like "girls..". He sounded so mean. Yeah, he is rich and maybe somewhat goodlooking, doesn't mean he'll treat everyone else as a piece of filth.

"Yeah well thanks anyways." Sanyukta replied, coldly for the first time. She felt him beside her look up with a jerk of his head as if he was shocked to hear someone use such a tone with him.

Take that you arrogant jerk!

It was hard to be polite to such people who acted as if they were doing others a huge favor by talking to them.

The bell rang then, signalling the end of the period. Sanyukta looked up towards him. He was glaring at her. His expression was alarming and it scared her, but without letting it show she looked back at him, her eyes cold as ice. It was like their eyes were fighting in a sort of unsaid battle. Both of them refused to look away.

Awesome mane..!!👏👏
It was a long update though..😲👍🏼
New campus, new friends, new environment..😊
At the end, when Sanyukta replied Randhir in a cold tone, it was my favorite part.😃
I'll be looking for more SANDHIR part in the further updates..😉

And by the way, this campus is more like a school.
I mean even Delhi schools are kinda loose, choirs, houses, head boy, head girl and all stuff. It was getting quite too much into depth.. I mean being a college student, ths question popped up in my mind if such colleges really exist.😕
Awesome work though..!!
Keep writing.😃

I have a lot to say about this long, long update of yours, but first off -
HIS SISTERS NAME?! I couldn't stop laughing whenever I read that. Honestly, even if you've based it with something, or someone else in mind, I love. you. for. this. That just made reading this update about 10 times funnier! xxxD
And no, your writing is as awesome as ever, bad state of mind or not.
Aaand All the Best for your exams! :D
Back to the Fiction, I remember asking you about their families, and I happen to like the background you've given Randhir. It's actually very, very interesting.
After finishing reading all of it, I was irresistibly reminded of Twilight (read it?), the whole I-saved-your-life-but-it's-no-big-deal-so-stop-talking-now thing, I mean. Although, Randhir didn't technically save her life.
And I totally loved Sanyukta's attitude at the end. The sass suits SanDhir best xD
Oh and I should also tell you, I very rarely read fictions that are based in different backdrops (The ones apart from F.I.T.E), but I always love reading yours.
I'm waiting for the next part, so update soon! :D

Heyaaa, really very sorry for unressing so late. Was caught up with exams and coursework.

My God, what a brilliant chapter man. And Randhir can still not stop being the gorgeous egoistic jerk. Hah! This is going to be fun because Sanyukta is a rebel too... I loved how she kept saying thank you and he kept being cold, and when she comments coldly, he can't look away now. You really need to update soon man. Eagerly awaited for the the next chapter. This is going to be fun. Let's see how they cope with each other.

Lots of love xxx

haha! yeah i know...
when i had initially written this story, i was still in school... so i guess thats what made me include all that stuff in this college too! besides its an academic institution! its a school, junior college and a university... so for such a huge population i guess a supreme council is required (do i make sense?) even if i dont, this is fiction... think of it as that... or you can call me the Karan Johar of SHQ Forum... Queen of candy floss!
anyways..
thanks so much for liking this!
love you loads!
