Chapter 6: Hunter & Prey

"Shut the hell up Sanyukta. I've had enough of you now" Parth roared back

"Parth... I saw her... I swear... She... Parth..."

"Alright then! If you've seen Vidushi, I think it's time for you to be with her" replied Parth immorally.

The surrounding was at its darkest. All the fears had come true. Before she could realise it

"Randhirrr" escaped a shrill. It was now or never.

What Parth said scared the life out of her. She did not know how and why, but the only sound that escaped her throat was a helpless shrill pleading for Randhir, to be there, with her. Somewhere deep inside her thudding heart she could feel Randhir's anxiousness. After all, enmity also had a heart-to-heart connection.

Sanyukta blindly ran into a dark corner. The race of life and death had actually started now. It was between her best friend and her-scared-self. No, the race actually was between a hunter & its prey.

"Parth.. why... why me? Why are you doing this? I'm your best friend, I have done no harm to you. And Vidushi... Why her? You knew how much she loved you. Parth what has gotten into you?" Sanyukta started sobbing loudly when she hit a pillar and fell, causing further damage to her already injured elbow further. Parth stood right in front of her. He intentionally stepped on her right hand, squishing it hard to keep her still in one place. Sanyukta let out a painful cry. Oh, how he loved to see her finally suffer so much. Pure evil reflected from his eyes. This time, his grip on his prey was tight. He would give her the cruellest death in the history of murders. After all, he had suffered so much due to her & her family. She was the sole reason why Arpita wasn't here with him today. And now, she was the main reason behind Vidushi's death!

Flashback (4 Days Ago)

It was as usual a hectic day in college. PKC's car engine repairing project had just begun this term. Cherry on top was Rao's water pump assignment while Vardhaan had done the icing by assigning a new dream team task; repairing every old generator available in the store room. Randhir had already finished his projects adn was now working on Vardhaan's task. Sanyukta was working on Rao's assignment while Vidushi was busy copying finished projects from seniors. Jiggy & Kaustuki were struggling with PKC's project while Yoyo & Sahil teamed up to finish their work together. Parth was in a world of his own. He skived every lecture & lab, his existence had disappeared into thin air.

Even during this ignorant phase, Randhir strived to help Sanyukta with her projects but she barely gave him attention.

December dusk had taken over the evening sky. Roorkee was literally freezing during this season all thanks to the winter rains resulting in most people moving out. The wind was as cold as ice. Most people were resting in their respective dorms. Studious people had taken over the library while the gossip corner had started in the newly opened cafe inside the building. A group of seniors was hanging out, Vidushi being a part of it.

It had been quite a while now since she has not has a proper conversation with Parth. The awkwardness had taken place and their friendship seemed to have dissolved under its effect. All thanks to her confession. Why? Why on earth did I ever confess? What the hell was I thinking? I just went ahead and told him what i truly felt after seeing him and Sanyukta together. It shouldn't hurt so much. They are mere emotions. Falling in love is not a crime is it? I just couldn't help myself. He always helped me when I needed him. He was always there, the only one who never taunted me or cracked jokes on me. Such a different guy he is! Yes I know he is not as hot & happening as Randhir but he is my type. But my stupid feelings ruined everything. Now he doesn't even talk to me. The way he yelled at me for thinking such things about him. Ohh I shouldn't have done it... never ever ever' such thoughts always haunted Vidushi these days. She did not approach Parth after that day. Partly because she was angry on him; for not understanding her feelings. But guilt and regret were the main reasons behind why she started to ignore him. She was hurt. Hurt, because she had hurt him. She missed him so much. He was the only good friend she had. All thanks to her stupidity and over the top emotions, she had messed up the pure friendship. But jealousy was such a strong emotion. It made people do the unwanted. And the same case could be applied on her too.

She was listening to Krit's fashion passion talk when she noticed Parth going out of the campus. He was never in college these days and if he ever was, by any chance, he spent all that time in his room either practicing karate or working on any of Vardhaan's tasks. She had to know the reason why he was depriving himself in such a way. After all, love doesn't die with small rejections. She thought of following him.

"Guys you carry on. I just have to make an important call. Will meet you inside" Vidushi picked her bag and ran after Parth.

He seemed to be going out of the campus. He started his bike and left. Vidushi got onto a rickshaw and started following him. The bike stopped near an old school. Parth got off his bike and approached the school. Vidushi too got off the rickshaw at a distance so that Parth could not see her. Today, she was determined to find out the truth behind his behaviour.

St. John Primary School was the oldest school to be found in Roorkee. The school was shut 8 years ago. It was the richest, most expensive and most popular school until its sudden closure. The event took place few days after a teacher was brutally murdered during school hours. The whole batch had witnessed the murder but was unable to describe anything after a bomb blast took place. But what could Parth be doing here at this hour? This guy surely had much more than what met the eye.

Vidushi went inside the school. It looked completly ruined. It was nothing less than a haunted house. The only sound present was of wind, hollowing, until she heard voices. One clearly belonged to Parth, but who was the other person? She walked further ahead and saw a dim light coming out of the principle's office. Two shadows could easily be seen through the door. She halted and eavesdropped.

"How long do you need to complete the task? Kabir is getting restless now. He says if you can't do it, he himself will. He already knows you're a coward. You won't be able to do it. Not even for your parents' sake" mocked the other voice.

"First of all, don't you dare call me a coward. Only I know how hard I've worked to earn their trust. She wasn't a cake walk. I had to act all mishy mushy to get her attention. All family drama, sad life stories that now even I'm feed up with the character I'm playing. Tell Kabir to not get restless. I'm the one who has to face her. Sometimes I feel like ending the game right there but I have to control. Plus the revenge has to be taken for all four of us so it's not such an easy game" Parth was gritting his teeth.

"But you're taking too long. If she's your friend, bring her out sometime, we will finish her right there".

"No, that's too risky. I have been trying to gain her full attention but that Randhir diverts her attention all the freaking time. Sometimes I feel like I might have to go through him to get her. Hopefully they aren't interacting this week so I think I stand a chance of chasing the life out of her. That Sanyukta Agrwal has no right to stay alive. At least, I will manage to hit that Agarwals's soft spot. I know this is where it will hurt him the most" hissed Parth.

The other voice seemed angrier now. "We must break every bone in her body. This will please my Dad. Agarwal is the main reason why we're counted as orphans. This school is a sign; whoever messes with us, he dies the ugliest death. Agarwal's brother died before he could open Kabir's secret. Now Sanyukta Agarwal must die before your secret is out!"

"What about Shekhawat? That clever fella will surely try to dig out this deep dark secret" Parth was now sharpening his knife.

"Whoever messes with us... dies the UGLIEST death!" both guys went hysterical.

Vidushi was frozen. How could Parth be such an evil guy? Her sugar candy turned out to be a bitter poison. All her life she had been a selfish brat, digging for her own advantages. She truly fell in love, keeping aside that big fat ego of her. Now it was time for her to be a selfless girl again. Even for a moment. Sanyukta wasn't her enemy. In fact, she had helped her in so many things, even took her side when Vardhaan scolded her. This was her chance to save her before it was too late!

Vidushi turned around and ran as fast as she could, only to hit a half broken. Glass shattered into small pieces and crashed down on the marble floor. Vidushi hit the floor, completely injuring her knee. Out of nowhere, she saw Parth standing beside her, offering her a hand.

"So you're here. I'm not surprised. Your so called love must have dragged you here right?" Parth was strangely sweet.

"I know your game Parth so just drop it. I won't spare you if you even dare to touch Sanyukta you mindless creature" Vidushi spat on his face.

"Mindless creature huh? Oh Vidushi, my dear Vidushi. You madly love this mindless creature of yours don't you. Well guess what even I like you" he chuckled darkly.

He turned her around so he was standing behind her. She could clearly see a destroyed classroom in front of her. Parth pointed towards the classroom.

"See that Vidushi. This is a perfect example for people like you. All your life, you guys plan to take over the world. Your earning comes out of our money. And the day when you decide to do something positive, this is what people like us do to people like you. We hate people like you. But I Like you. Trust me. Whatever I do now will be the best for both of us, especially for you.

Saying that he lifted his knife and stabbed her in the spine.

"Good Night Vidushi. Lots of lovely dreams. Hope you have a great time in hell" Parth barked out loudly, throwing Vidushi on the ground, with the knife stuck into her skin to ensure she bled enough.

"One down darling Sanyukta. Don't worry, I'm not the murderer. You are the reason behind her death and I shall take revenge. After all, you are the reason why I had to kill her".

Present

"So Sanyukta Agarwal I have been kind enough to narrate the Oh-Vidushi-Murder story to you. Now I'm bored. When I'm the hunter and you're the prey, why not play a game?" Saying so, Parth lifted a rod that lay nearby and approached towards Sanyukta.

"Nooo" a shrill echoed.
