Chapter-9
Randhir left the girl and went to Sanyukta and introduced her "Sanyu, this is Natasha Shergill, the Legal advisor of RS Automobiles and a good friend." And the women shook hands cordially.
"And Natasha, meet Sanyukta Agarwal now Mrs.Sanyukta Randhir Singh Shekhawat' " said Randhir looking dreamily at Sanyukta.
Sanyukta left her hand and wound her arm protectively around Randhir's arm.
"Nice meeting you Natasha" said Sanyukta.
"It's nice to meet you too Sanyukta. I always wanted to see the girl who had Randhir's heart. You are one hell of a lucky woman." said Natasha in a sugar sweet voice to which Sanyukta smiled.
"No Natasha. I am one hell of a lucky man." said Randhir who was constantly looking at Sanyukta.
Natasha flinched a bit on Randhir's loving words about Sanyukta for a moment but was quick enough to recover and turn it into a wide smile. But this didn't go unnoticed by Sanyukta.
Just then Randhir received a call and he excused himself.
Something about this girl was just not right. Sanyukta was thinking when Renuka interrupted holding Natasha's hand lovingly "Pata hai Sanyukta, Natasha has done a lot for Randhir..I mean his company."
"Oh! That's nice to know that you have done a lot for Randhir..I mean his company. Will you guys please excuse me? I am feeling a bit dehydrated." Sanyukta replied in an equally sweet tone and excused herself.
"1 red wine" said Sanyukta at the bar counter.
"1 Vodka" said another voice from her side. Sanyukta turned to find Natasha leaning on the counter. She turned and smiled which Sanyukta returned diligently.
As both of them were sipping their drinks, Sanyukta thought that maybe she is thinking too much so she decided to break the ice with her question.
"So you know Randhir from how much time?" said Sanyukta trying to start a conversation.
"4 years. And you?" replied Natasha.
"From college. But after that we were not together for a long time." replied Sanyukta scanning the crowd for Randhir.
"Ya, I know. Renuka Aunty told me all about you guys. Randhir never shared anything personal. So I had to ask her" replied Natasha.
"Hmmm" said Sanyukta.
"If you are wondering then let me clear it to you that yes I like Randhir a lot" said Natasha on which she received an inquisitive glare from Sanyukta to continue.
"Don't look at me like that. I am not at fault. Randhir is a great guy and you don't get to see people like him. He has helped me get through a lot of rough patches. But whenever I tried to know about his troubles, he just brushed me off. Renuka aunty wanted us to get married but Randhir never agreed and I tried hard to get close to him but all in vain. I still remember that day when I asked him that why he never shares his pain with any of us. He replied that I have the exclusive rights to her' memories and nobody else is allowed to share. I knew that day how much he loves you and that nobody can take your place in his heart and I stopped prying in his personal life. But I kept hoping that someday he might see me in a different light but you came back in his life and rest is history." said Natasha sipping her Vodka.
"Why are you telling me all this?" asked Sanyukta in a curious tone.
"Because you are everything to Randhir and I don't want to start on a fake note with you. I have always wanted Randhir's happiness and if it is with you then I guess I have to accept it. I am not trying to snatch him from you but I am just letting you know that I have feelings for him so that we don't have some misunderstandings later." said Natasha looking at Sanyukta over the rim of her glass.
"I appreciate your honesty and the fact that you care for his happiness. But I don't need explanantions from you. He is my husband and I trust him more than myself. So if you will excuse me now, I need to find him." said Sanyukta finishing her drink and walking towards the party.
She was looking here and there when a pair of arms engulfed her from behind. Sanyukta smiled taking in his cologne.
"Kisko dhund rahi thi?" whispered Randhir in Sanyukta's ear.
"Jisko dhund rahi thi usne mujhe dhund liya." said Sanyukta turning around to face him
"Sorry, wo ek important call aa gaya tha." said Randhir pulling her closer.
"Isme Sorry kaisa. I know my husband is an influential man. Besides I had company." Sanyukta said straightening his collar more.
"Company? Who?" said Randhir
"Natasha" said Sanyukta looking at Natasha who was still standing at the counter talking to someone but her eyes were fixed on them or rather him.
"Oh. She is a nice girl but..." he trailed thinking about something.
"But kya?" said Sanyukta trying to read his expressions.
"Leave it. That's not important." said Randhir locking his hands behind Sanyukta's waist.
Sanyukta smiled thinking Yes, that's not at all important.
Suddenly Renuka's voice boomed in the mike, "Randhir will you please join me on the stage?"
Randhir looked at Sanyukta and she beckoned him to go. Randhir went and joined Renuka on stage.
"First of all I would thank you all from the bottom of my heart to be a part of this celebration. Sanyal Industries has completed 25 glorious years, but all this would not be complete without the people I have worked with all these years. She started naming the who's who of her company who started joining her on stage.
"These are the people who have made my professional life a success but you don't enjoy success until you have the people you love truly by your side. My life has a single person who holds that position. My son and the owner of RS Automobiles, Randhir Singh Shekhawat."
Randhir stepped forward and kissed Renuka on the cheek. Renuka wiped her tears and continued speaking.
"You know being successful isn't easy. I had to pay the price too. My son. There was a time when I had lost my son due to this rising business cos I was not able to give him the time, love and care he needed. But I thank God who brought him back to me. So thank you Randhir for being a part of this. I love you Beta."
Renuka handed the champagne bottle to Randhir and he popped it open. Sanyukta clapped hard when Randhir took the mike from Renuka's hand and his husky voice echoed.
"Good evening Ladies and Gentleman. It's an honor to be a part of this celebration. Sanyal Industries is a name in itself but this name has reached this postion due to my mother's hardwork and sheer determination. It's not easy to leave your family and follow your dreams. Choosing family over your dreams or vice-versa, both have their own pros and cons which my mom also suffered. She lost me in this process. But I won't thank God for bringing her closer to me. Bringing me closer to my mom was the work of a person. Someone who taught me things that are basically taught by your family." said Randhir keeping his glass of champagne on te table and climbing down the stairs of the stage.
Sanyukta nodded in a No' when she figured that Randhir was approaching her only.
"Someone who taught me the difference between right and wrong" he said making way as the spot light followed him.
"Someone who taught me to forego my Male Chauvinistic attitude and to respect women more." he said looking at Sanyukta directly.
"Someone who loved me unconditionally and taught me what true love was all about"
"Someone who cried with me in my sorrows and celebrated my joy"
"Someone who almost gave up her life to see me happy" he said finally reaching Sanyukta.
Sanyukta had tears in her eyes and he wiped them with his index finger.
"My friend, my soulmate, my love and my wife -Sanyukta.I love you." he said hugging her and the whole hall erupted with applause. Sanyukta held Randhir close and opened her eyes to see Renuka trying hard to smile and clap.
Randhir held her hand and dragged her to the stage. Renuka came forward, held Sanyukta's hands and kissed her on both cheeks. Randhir whispered something in her ear to which Sanyukta blushed and nodded in a yes.
"My marriage with Sanyukta was a hasty process which just included of a court marriage in India. So with the approval of my wife I am announcing my formal marriage with her next month. Dates will be announced soon. So cheers to all." Randhir said picking up his glass.
A loud CHEERS' erupted from the crowd followed by claps.
As all of them made their way down the stage, everyone was congratulating them. Natasha approached and hugged Randhir and Sanyukta congratulating them. As the other couples made their way to the dance floor, Randhir asked Sanyukta "Would you care to have a dance with me Mrs.Shekhawat?"
"My pleasure" said Sanyukta holding Randhir's hand as they made their way to the dance floor.
(Ed Sheeran's Give Me love' song was playing)
Randhir took her right hand in his left hand and his right hand held her by her waist while her left hand rested on his shoulder and they started swaying in a perfect rhythm on the song.
"Tum khush to ho na?" said Randhir looking in her eyes deeply.
"Ab bhi puch rahe ho." said Sanyukta smiling. She hugged him and they were lost in each others's embrace.

Farewell party day
9.00 am
Sanyukta walked into the mechanical lab for the last time. This place had given her the most memorable moments and her life - Randhir.
"Hai kahaan ye? Mujhe khud yahaan bula ke gaayab hai." muttered Sanyukta.
She was running her hands on the machines trying to take the capture the essence with her when she heard the door close. As she turned, she saw Randhir lazily standing with his back to the door with his trade smirk.
"Feeling nostalgic?" He said walking towards her.
"Hmm.. Is lab se bahut saari yaadein judi hai. Hai na?" said Sanyukta running her fingers over the motor.
"Ek yaad to mujhe abhi tak achche se yaad hai" said Randhir touching her lips with his fingers.
"Shut up Randhir!" said Sanyukta blushing.
"Arey! Yaad nahi to ek foreplay ho jaaye." said Randhir pulling Sanyukta in his arms.
"Randhir. Bahut besharam ho gaye ho tum." said Sanyukta getting out of his grip.
"Anyways tumhe yahaan kaam ke liye bulaaya tha baatein karne nahi. Stay here." Said Randhir and picked 2 bags that he had kept near the door.
"Ye lo" said Randhir forwarding the bags to her.
"Ye kya hai" asked Sanyukta holding the bags.
"Tumhare liye gift hai dumbo. Khol ke dekho." Smirked Randhir
As she opened the first bag, she saw a beautiful black evening dress. She excitedly opened the second bag and found a navy blue designer saree with silver sleevless blouse.
She looked puzzled at Randhir when Randhir held her from the back and said
"Main jaanta hun tum kya soch rahi ho. Yahin na ki do itni alag type ke kapde main tumhe kyun gift kar raha hun. Actually maine pehle ye saree pasand ki thi. Pata nahi pehli nazar mein hi pasanad aa gayi. Bas laga that it's made for you. Par fir laga ki farewell mein tum ye pehen nahi paogi. Will be a bit uncomfortable. So ye dress le li. Aaj shaam ki farewell party mein yahin dress pehen ke aana. Saari ladkiyon ko complex ho jaega. Got it Aggarwal?" Sanyukta nodded but was lost in that saree.
"Waise tumne bataya nahi ki kaisi lagi?" asked Randhir nudging Sanyukta's shoulder with his nose.
"Bahut khoobsurat hai. Thanks Randhir. Par bahut expensive honge na?" said Sanyukta touching the sequins on the saree.
"Arey, meri Sanyukta princess hai. To kapde bhi princess waale hone chahiye na." said Randhir kissing her cheek.
Sanyukta cautiously pushed the gift she had brought for Randhir under the table, but Randhir noticed it.
"Ye kya chupa rahi ho Sanyu?" said Randhir picking the bag from under the table.
"Please mat dekho Randhir. Tumhari matlab ki cheez nahi hai. Mera kuch personal samaan hai." said Sanyukta snatching the bsg from his hand.
"Mujhse kya personal jaan?" teased Randhir as he again snatched the bag. They were running around the whole lab when Randhir's gift slipped out from the packet on the floor. Sanyukta closed her mouth with her palm in horror.
Randhir slowly picked the rugged brown coloured jacket from the floor and looked at Sanyukta and gave a wide grin.
"Achcha to ye' tumhara personal samaan hai. Thoda chota nahi padega."
Randhir was touching the jacket as if it was the most precious thing he had seen in his life.
Sanyukta approached him and said in a guilty tone "Tumhare gift jitna achcha nahi hai na."
Randhir suddenly looked at her as if she had lost her mind. In a few seconds he was laughing madly. He gave a tight hug to Sanyukta while Sanyukta was still in tears.
"Arey pagal. Isisliye ise chupa rahi thi? Tum kitni dumb ho sakti ho wo mujhe aaj maalum pada. Money doesn't matter Sanyu but feelings do matter. Tum mere liye itne pyaar se ye gift laayi ho aur main baith ke iska price dekhunga? Itne time mein tum mujhe itna hi jaan paayi ho?" he said with hurt was clear in his voice. He was about to leave whe Sanyukta held hi hand and pleaded.
"Nahi Randhir. Baat wo nahi hai. I am sorry. Mera iraada tumhara dil dukhaane ka nahi tha." she said turning him to look at her.
He was still looking the jacket in his hands. To cheer him up, she held her ears and started doing sit-ups.
"Ab to maine kaan bhi pakad liye hain aur uthak-baithak bhi kar rahi hun. Ab to maan jao."
Randhir turned around not looking at Sanyukta. Sanyukta thought "Ye to bahut ghussa ho gaya hai. Ab to brahmastra use karna hi hoga." He was about to leave when Sanyukta grabbed his collar and pushed him to the wall. Before Randhir could decipher Sanyukta's lips landed on his and were kissing him fiercely. Randhir tried to shove her away but his resolve broke in a few seconds He pulled Sanyukta close holding from her waist as he took over the kiss and pushed Sanyukta's back to the wall. They explored each other's lips for a long time until lack of oxygen made them part from each other. Sanyukta leaned her head on the wall while Randhir was leaning on Sanyukta's shoulder. Both of them were taking long breaths when Randhir's voice broke in between "Lo ho gaya foreplay"
And both of them burst into a fit and hugged each other.
"Aaj shaam yahin jacket pehen ke aana. Samjhe?" said Sanyukta wiping gloss from Randhir's lips.
"Yes mam." said Randhir straightening her hair.
Randhir was constantly looking at the watch as well as the entrance from the past half an hour. Everybody was present in the party except Sanyukta.
"Ye kahaan reh gayi hai? Ek dress pehen ke aane mein itna time lagta hai kya?" muttered Randhir to himself.
"Arey Randhir bhai! Aa jaegi wo. Aap chill karo." said Jiggy.
"Par abhi tak kyun nahi aayi? Kaustuki aa gayi. Arpita bhi aa gayi." said Randhir irritated.
Suddenly the DJ announced "This song is dedicated to Randhir from the girl in the saree."
"Tere naam pe jee lun, tere namm pe mar jaaon. Teri jaan ke sadke mein kuch aisa kar jaaon. Tune kya kar daala. Mar gayi main. Mit gayi main. Ho gayi main. Teri deewani" (Song by Kailash Kher)
Randhir turned around to find the most mesmerizing view in front of him. Sanyukta was draped in the same saree Randhir had gifted her. Randhir went up to her as he drank her all over. He stood in front of her looking at her awestruck. He slowly lifted her hand and placed a light kiss on her knuckles and said "You look mesmerizing. Par Saree?" he said caressing her cheek.
"Tum mujhe saree mein dekhna chahte the na. To bas." said Sanyukta holding his hand resting on her cheek.
A loud cough interrupted them. They turned around to find Vardaan smiling at both of them. Sanyukta blushed while Randhir smiled and asked Sanyukta "May I have the pleasure to dance with you?"
"The pleasure is all mine" said Sanyukta placing her hand in his. They went to the centre of the dance floor and were slowly moving to the song when Randhir whispered in her ear.
"Marry me now." Sanyukta blushed and hugged Randhir and they danced the whole night in each other's arms.
Randhir's voice brought her back from the past as he whispered in her ear "Ghar chalein? I want to spend sometime alone with you." Sanyukta nodded and they made their way towards Renuka chatting with Natasha.
"Mom, Sanyu tired hai thodi si, to hum log nikatle hain."
"Ya, sure. I'll give you both a call tomorrow regarding the marriage plans. Ok." said Renuka.
As they left the party hand in hand, Sanyukta was sure that Renuka was burning holes in her back.
As they entered their room, Randhir came out of his tuxedo and tie and loosened his shirt. Sanyukta went to the bathroom and came out in her signature Patiala and Kurti sans all makeup.
She saw Randhir standing at the terrace puffing a cigarette. Sanyukta wrapped a shawl around her and made her way out. She stood beside Randhir looking at the New York skyline. Seeing her stand nearby Randhir crushed the cigarette beneath his shoe and turned to face her.
"Main ye doosri baar tumhare haath mein dekh rahi hun. Pehli baar tab dekha tha jab tum Shimla mein apne cottage ki khidki pe baithe the. Kabse pee rahe ho?" said Sanyukta still looking in the same direction.
Randhir turned to look in the same direction, Sanyukta was looking and answered "Jabse business ka stress badhna shuru ho gaya tabse. Tum kahogi to chod dunga."
Sanyukta said "To chod do. Achchi cheez nahi hai."
Randhir smiled on her child-like sweet answer and fished the cigarette packet out of his pocket and threw it in the garbage bin.
"Happy?" said Randhir to which Sanyukta smiled and hugged Randhir. Randhir's cell ring at that time and he muttered a curse and put it on speaker.
"Yes David. Now what have I done to deserve this call from you at this time."
"Sorry sir. But it was urgent. This is regarding Mrs.She...". Before David could take a name, Randhir abruptly removed the call rom speaker and said "1 sec." He put the call on mute and turned to Sanyukta who was now giving an inquisitive look to Randhir.
"Bahaar kaafi thand hai na? Do one thing. Tum andar jaake rest karo na. Main do minute mein ye call khatam karke aata hun."
Sanyukta nodded and went inside.
"Speak up." said Randhir removing the cell from mute.
"Mr.Batra is online and wants to talk to you regarding Mrs.Shekhawat's case. Should I connect him? " asked David.
"Yes." said Randhir bracing himself up.
After a moment's silence, a voice boomed on the other side "Good Evening Mr.Shekhawat. So how are you doing today?"
"Save the pleasenteries Mr.Batra. What do you have on her case?" asked Randhir in a clipped tone.
"Well. Skipping the formalities. It was very hard to get an 8 year old file but money has a way of delivering everything. It's good that you are filthy rich Mr.Shekhawat. The car which had hit Mrs.Shekhawat 8 years ago was a Black SUV. I tried to track the number plate across the license agency and guess what! This car was never registered. It was a hit and run case. Police could not get hold of the driver since he fled the scene before police could arrive at the spot. The place where Mrs.Shekhawat's accident took place was an isolated spot, 1 km from her house. Maybe she was trying to take some short cut."
"What about her hospital records? Did you find out who brought her in? Who was paying her bills for 2 years?" asked Randhir.
"She was brought in by some lady but shockingly there is no mention of her in the file. The police interrogated her and just let her go without locking any statement. I tried to extract her payment records and the strange thing is that the payments were done through a Swiss Bank Account every month for 2 years until the day she left the hospital. No name was registered."
"Ok. Do one thing. I want you to grab hold of the police who were on on this case at that time. Throw any amount they ask and get the information out. I want to know who is behind all this. Keep me updated on this." said Randhir and hung up. He stood there taking long breaths trying to compose his mind. As he turned, he saw Sanyukta standing at the doorway looking at him.
"Arey tum soyi nahi ab tak?" said Randhir diverting the topic as he brushed past her to go inside.
"Randhir, Kya pata karne ki koshish kar rahe ho?" asked Sanyukta innocently fearing the worst.
"Jaanti ho to sawaal kyun puch rahi ho Sanyu?" said Randhir checking his cell phone.
"Kya faayda hoga iska Randhir? Humne jo waqt khoya hai wo waapis thode hi aa jaega." said Sanyukta reasoning with Randhir.
"Wo waqt waapis nahi aaega par us waqt ko humse cheen ne waale ko main itni aasani se jaane nahi dunga." said Randhir in a matter of fact tone.
"But Randhir, its better to forgive." she said trying to get Randhir out of this investigation.
"Sanyu, Please. Behes mat karo." said Randhir trying to avoid any fight.
"Par Randhir..." sanyukta trailed but was cut by Randhir's cold tone.
"What's wrong with you? Tumko mahaan banna hai to bano par mujhse expect mat karo. Agar wo insaan jahannum mein bhi chupa hoga na then also I'll drag him out. Kyunki real hell to main uski life ko banaunga." said Randhir in a high pitched voice.
"Randhir, itni nafrat achchi nahi hai. It will harm you in the long run."
"Mujhe abhi is bare mein koi baat nahi karni. I have work. Tum so jao. I'll be late." Saying this he picked up his laptop and went to the living room.
"Kaise samjhaun tumhe ki tumhari khushi us insaan ke bare mein nahi jaan ke hai Randhir" said Sanyukta slumping on the bed.
