This was beyond perfect...reminded me of one of those little essays we had to always write in school back in the day...it has been a few decades, so do bear with my lapses here - The Autobiography of an Umbrella' or 'An Autobiography of a Diary' etc...the Autobiography of the Ugly Chaise...Recliner...Lounge...ooh, so many possibilities...and of course you executed it to the hilt...kyaa thaa woh...

I was smiling right through...and as Rashmi suggested in her comment, what about the pool? That surely was witness to a few more of those beautiful love scenes in the life of Arnav and Khushi...

But yes, coming back to the suede emeral-green covered luxurious chaise - haha - from back in the day when she was beautiful...my favourite memory, and I am sure that of the total janta here as well...is of the night they slept on the chaise after the Dilli Mein Bali fiasco. Beautiful portrayal of the scene as it happened, told from a third person observer's point of view...oh wow...the descriptions of the cracklings chemistry definitely lit something up as I was reading...😛 - we realize that they can take IPK away from us, but the Arnav and Khushi impact will definitely remain hamesha...

Loved the chaise's righteous indignation that Khushi was thinking of replacing her...she had first dibs on Arnav ji so how could Khushi do something like that? Loved Arnav's justification for why they should keep her...I am glad he has become what Khushi used to be, while she has become what Arnav used to be like...that definitely shows progress in a married couple's life!

Evocative and heart stoppingly beautiful, the tikka scene so nostalgic...made me realize the unhappy memories were there too...if the chaise could speak, she was the only one who was mute witness to Khushi's immense grief when Arnav was kidnapped, and she imagined Arnav lying down there looking at her...also, another one that comes to mind is when he was sleeping on the recliner during the Shaitan-Sundari days, missing her, waiting for her...

A superb one shot, which also gave us a sneak peek into the future...please do a whole series...you are just awesome at writing these mood pieces!

You took us on a journey of their love story.. Can we name the chaise and move her to the nursery !!

After such a long time :) Poor old shapely chaise! Oh, not old, she still stands firm for her Arnavji, not like that bed who just broke away. If only Khushi knew that it wasn't just the laptop her husband had charmed. Lovely piece dear, waiting for more :)

Glad that you're back with 'when I knew' series.
The "ugly" chaise as you put it had a rather delightful insight into Arnav and Khushi's life.
