His phone rang. A mysterious number flashed on the mobile. Willingly, he picked it up hoping for some good news. This was a risk he was undertaking, but he had to anyway.
He said in a husky voice.
The voice on the other hand, said.
He asked.
Came the dutiful reply.
He hung up, walked outside the hospital building. He put on his shades, drove his SUV to the cafe. An hour to go. Everything will change. His life. Either guilt will be left or hatred. Abhorrence. But, life works in mysterious way.
Dressed in a black Prada suit, He walked through the well-known Starbucks cafe for which he always had a liking. Latte was his favourite, so he grabbed one and sat on the couch absorbing the surroundings. He soon moved into thoughts which welcomed him.
He, Mr. Avinash Suneja, was a renowned detective who was dedicated to work. Having solved some ground-braking cases, he immediately rose to fame. He, however could not believe his luck when Mr. Arnav Singh Raizada had hired him. He truly couldn't forget that day.
His phone rang and an unknown number flashed. He picked it up leisurely while making his way to the nearest couch.
" Hello? " He spoke in his regular tone.
" I'm Arnav Singh Raizada." Came the voice from the other end.
After having heard the person's name, he immediately stood up straight in shock. He, Arnav Singh Raizada, the owner of AR industries which was flourishing and growing with every passing seconds was talking to him.Suddenly, he felt inferior and small to this personality. He really couldn't believe his luck.
" Hello, sir." Damn, what a reply !
" I want to hire you." Arnav said in a flat tone.
However, Avinash soon got his impression. He wouldn't beat around the bush, but would straight come to the point. How could he ever deny this opportunity? NEVER.
" Sure, sir." Came the dutiful reply.
" I want you to find out more about Khushi Kumari Gupta and Shayam Manohar Jha. Every small detail that is possible. Most importantly, if they love each other. Not that I'm suspecting my wife, but I want information about what Shayam and about all his activities." He said in one go, with a husky voice. Avinash listened with utmost attentiveness and noted down the names on a piece of paper lying nearby.
Wife.
" I will, sir. Thanks for considering me fit for this job." He replied obligated.
But, Arnav was in no mood of formalities, so he just hung up leaving a confused Avinash behind.
Since then, he has been finding all bits of information from wherever he could get. He disguised himself, and visited Khushi's family to found out any piece of info possible. Luckily, they just blurted out everything.
Proud of his research, he drank his Latte and waited for Arnav.
Their meeting stretched on for two long hours that seemed an eternity to Arnav who spoke nothing, but just listened to all the facts that were being presented by Avinash. He tried hard not to cry or to break down having realized his mistake. Or, Sin perhaps.
So what makes anger different from the six other deadly sins? It's pretty simple really, you give into a sin like envy or pride and you only hurt yourself. Try lust or coveting and you'll only hurt yourself and one or two others. But anger, anger is the worst... the mother of all sins... Not only can anger drive you over the edge, when it does you take an awful lot of people with you." His anger had not only destroyed Khushi's life but everyone else's. Most importantly, without them being at fault.
In childhood, he wasn't the angry young man. Before his parents died, to be precise. He was a merry and a happy-go-around guy who used to joke around. This attitude made him admirable everywhere. But, life is unfair. When his parents died, he isolated himself from everyone for he did not allow anyone to come close to him. He was convinced that everyone's just going to hurt him. That's how he changed. Its true that pain can change people.
All these thoughts twirled his mind when he made his way back to the hospital after having met the person at Starbucks where he received a big shock which was both pleasant yet surprising which made him feel guilty even more. The revelation was brought in a cruel way, with him sinking in the pool of ever-lasting guilt.
' Khushi was innocent.' These words ranged in his mind as he drove back to the Hospital.
Avinash's words twirled in Arnav's mind which were just stunned due to the revelation.
" Sir, Shayam Manohar Jha had disguised himself and hid his true identity from Khushi. Unwillingly, she had decided to marry him. But, when she realized that Shayam was Anjali's husband, she left him at the spot. From what I've concluded is that she tried hard to tell Anjali about it but due to her pregnancy, Khushi could not speak a word. I've collected this information from her family and her relatives.". He said in one go, fearing that how he would react.
But, Arnav did not speak a word. Emotions collided in his brain as he digested this information that was so brutal. He was, in one way, happy that Khushi did not like Shayam but, the fact that he had hurt her without even her mistake, killed him from the inside. He dismissed the detective, and went for his car in the parking lot still numb. Behind the tinted shades of his car, he let out his tears to flow. He cried, for this was burning him from the inside. Seeing Khushi like that, was killing him. Moreover, he had given her pain and that too, with her being innocent. How more cruel could he ever be?
In that very moment, ASR was replaced by Arnav who had a beating heart inside him. This heart was now beating for Khushi, the on who taught him to love and live. A heart that was filled with grief and guilt for destroying the very person who was the reason for his heartbeats. He swore he would right every wrong that he did with Khushi.Payal reached out for her baby sister, who was eager to leave this hospital and get back to home. She hugged Khushi, with an unknown fear. What if something happened to her? Her grip on Khushi tightened at the very thought of letting her go. Never.
Khushi now had been the victim of surprises since the very morning. First Arnav, and Payal who was not talking to her. Till now. Indeed the whole family was standing in front of her, consoling each other seeing her miserable state. They all hugged her and cried, while all the time she looked confused. They say they never really miss you until you are dead or gone.
After 3 hours, the family decided to leave Khushi alone but Payal was adamant for she wanted to talk to her. So they left them along in the room.
" Khushi, why did you commit suicide?" She asked the one question everyone was dying to hear the answer.
On the other hand, Arnav came back from the cafe and made his way towards Khushi's room. Next he saw Payal and Khushi talking so he decided not to disturb. But, he heard Khushi say,
" Di, please I don't want to answer this."
He decided to listen to their conversation.
" Okay, Khushi. I'll ask you another question. Is Arnavji nice to you?" Payal asked.
Khushi looked here and there, not knowing if she should say the truth. She wanted to scream, NO. He's not and that's why I decided to die ! But, she composed herself, asked God for forgiveness and lied,
" Di, why are you asking this question? Arnavji is really sweet to me. He's the best husband. You know, when he got to know about my state, he was really worried. In fact, he was crying. Since then, he's taking really good care of me."
" Do you love him? " Payal asked.
She wanted to answer,
f**king NO. I Hate Him. But she couldn't, she had to lie. No other option.
She had to lie, for Payal's sake. Even though she wanted to bang Arnav's head into something, she had to stop this emotion and pretend she loved that ruthless guy.
On the other hand, Arnav was listening to their conversation which made him feel guilty even more. All he ever wanted to do was kill himself for the hurt that he provided her. She was, still, putting up with the lie which he had started. He, was indeed waiting for the answer.
But, much to his grief, Anjali entered the room putting an end to Payal and Khushi's conversation. He did not have the courage to look into her eyes. Neither could he apologize, for he knew forgiving him was not possible.
The whole family left with utmost reluctance, leaving Arnav and Khushi along much to Khushi's irritation. The whole time, Arnav was not able to look into Khushi's eyes for he knew if he did he would break down. Shwoing exemplary strength, he managed not to cry and apologize to her in front of the whole family. Once they all left, he locked the room's door much to Khushi's surprise. What the hell is he upto now?
He walked and sat on the nearby couch, without looking into her confusion filled eyes. He managed to say,
" I'm sorry, Khushi."
As if your sorry is of any use.
" I'm really really sorry."
I don't want your sorry.
" I did not want to hurt you."
Yes, right. You never do. But, why is that I always end up getting hurt?" Whatever happened was a pure misunderstanding."
For crying out lord's sake, Shut Up.
" I thought you loved Shayam. I thought.. I'm really sorry Khushi, for everything. Forcing you to marry me. Treating you worse than an animal. Labeling you as characterless. Hurting you to an extent where you had to give up. " He said in a chocked voice. And, there she saw Mr Arnav Singh Raizada, the ruthless person who never really gave shit, kneeling down and crying like never before. He was apologizing continuously, unable to meet Khushi's eyes. The guilt was clearly visible in his eyes, and that actually shook Khushi.
Khushi managed to speak up,
" Arnavji, please don't cry."
Arnav looked up in a hope that she'd forgive him, but what she added next took his breath away. " I hate you, that's true, for what you did. I may never forgive you. And, all I want is these remaining 3 months to be over as soon as possible. I don't want you to feel guilty about what you did to me. No matter what you heard, you could've at least try and talk to me about it so that we could solve it the easier way. But, your big, fat ego did not allow you to do so. I cannot be a saint and forgive you for that's near to impossible for me. Moreover, I feel numb, Mr Raizada. NUMB. Nothing but emptiness. That's all because of you. So, please don't make the remaining time hard for both of us. Keep you apologies to yourself, I don't want it. "
He was rooted to the stop, filled with immense guilt and regret. What she said was totally correct, and he could not deny that. But, no matter what happens, he knew he couldn't leave Khushi. He knew he was being selfish, but he just couldn't live without her. He silently hoped she also could not live with him. However his hopes and dreams got shattered away into million pieces when she added," I f**kING HATE YOU FOR MAKING MY LIFE A LIVING HELL. So, STAY AWAY from me. "
Okay, I know this was intense. But, I couldn't think of anything else :P
