"Writing has made you philosophical.Isn't it ?.Arnav teased.
"Are you complaining?".Khushi asked as she looked up at him,raising herself a bit from his chest where she was comfortably resting her head at feeling his heartbeats.
"Not even a bit.Guess You finally learnt to put your brains to use".Arnav shuffled a laugh as she pouted at him.How much he has missed teasing her,seeing the fire build in her eyes when she became all territorial and exerted her rights on him.Khushi didn't disappoint him as she got up and announced her word,her voice raging higher than wanted as she made her intentions crystal clear.
"Sorry but bad try CAPTAIN ARNAV SINGH RAIZADA.Just because I talk sensibly sometimes doesn't mean it cut you off some slack.I had enough of this serious ,all uptight and head go on business.Now I just want to be the careless,lively,weird and mad Khushi,the one that I can only be with you and dare you expect anything else from me.Take charge of everything like you used too".
Holding her captive in his arms,Arnav joked.
"And here I was thinking that these 5 years brought some change in you".
She swatted his arm playfully and Arnav continued as he kissed her fingers intermittently.
"I fell in love with that Khushi only.The girl who holds the key to my heart,who can make me smile in the darkest of times,who has lit my world with happiness.My one and only Lazybump and I won't have you in any other way".
There was so much to talk about,so much to share,so many incidents to aquaint each other with but Arnav and Khushi were in no hurry.It was as if without voicing it aloud their hearts has unconsciously known that they have all the time to discuss all those things.The conversation flowed freely from one topic to another as they talked and then talked some more.
Amidst tinkling laughters and some tears,the loving caresses and kisses,they were the same Arnav and Khushi they had been 5 years ago.As the distance and separation of 5 years never existed between them.Encased in each others arms,guarded by nature,the world beyond it ceased to exist for them.
The sky has gone darker since long but it was the sudden jolt of lightening in the sky that broke their trance.Arnav stood up pulling Khushi up with him he caught the time in his watch.They haven't realised where time has elapsed.
"Its late and looks like,its going to rain.Ill escort you home.Come".
Arnav spoke in a nonchalant way as he has done so many times in past but it was only when he saw Khushi's grip tightening on his arm.Her nails digging his flesh,the fear clogging her senses making those beautiful eyes already fill up with unshed tears.
Arnav felt like smacking himself,clearly understanding where her thought process was going.He didn't want her to shed a single tear anymore.They have been so ecstatic just by being with each other that they haven't talked about the most important aspect.Khushi though have had a fair inkling about it,has chosen not to bring it up,not wanting the spoil the surreality of it.
Well he had never been the one to wait for the perfect moment as he believed every moment spent with your loved ones are in itself most memorable.They have never followed the cliched route,from their unexpected meet to their confession of love, to now being here in their personal heaven which was going to witness the solemnisation of their bond.
Pulling her flush against him,Arnav finally whispered the words that they both have been waiting for what feels like their whole life.
"You know I love calling you Lazybump,don't you".But I think KHUSHI ARNAV SINGH RAIZADA sounds way better".
Khushi's mouth opened in wide O' ,her eyes widening in surprise as she took some moments to grasp the intensity of his words.The impact of it so hard that she struggled to believe what she was hearing was indeed true.Her most cherished dream was to become a reality.
"You are not joking are you?".Khushi asked in a trembling voice.
Her innocent query asserting the vulnerability hitting the chords of his protective instincts instantly.He wasn't going to let even a feather hurt her again.He cupped her dear face in both his palms so she can look for herself,the sincerity and honesty of his words,ebbing away all the doubts from her mind and heart once and for all.
"Can I ever joke about a thing on which our life depends Khushi?.We parted because it was the right thing to do at that time but NOT AGAIN NEVER AGAIN.Why do you think I am here after so many years?.Our love has shone through it all battling all tests and trials.You belong to me NOW AND FOREVER".
"But,Arnav how.I mean - how ,when -- I -".Khushi stammered struggling to frame words.
"Khushi we have waited for 5 long years.Can you wait for some minutes more.I will tell you rather someone else wants to say something to you.You don't need to worry about anything".The finality in his tone left no room for any further questions.She trusted him with her life.
"Its going to rain".Khushi said as they walked through the familiar streets,her head on his shoulders,their hands entwined.
"I never got wet since you left".Khushi spoke longingly after moments of silence.
Taking her by surprise,Arnav pulled her with him out of the covered shed they were walking through to the wide almost barren road.Uncaring of their surroundings,Arnav and Khushidanced in each others arms,lost in each other as heaven continued to pour its blessings on them,rejoicing in their togetherness.
