Suddenly, Khushi felt a sudden pang of pain in her wrist and then her head. While Arnav was busy kissing her, she just stood accepting the pain. When it was unbearable, she pushed Arnav with all the remaining energy she had.
She looked down at her wrist and Arnav followed her gaze and saw a big red spot on her wrist that was covered with bandage. He soon realized it was blood.
He looked up, and when their eyes met, Khushi knew she wouldn't be able to bear any longer. She collapsed into his arms while He screamed her name in agony and regret. She couldn't survive his assault, for she wasn't the fittest.
" I fell in love with the way you fall asleep slowly and then all at once."
-The Fault In Our Stars by John Green

Chapter 4:
No matter how thick skinned we try to be, there's millions of electrifying nerve endings in our brain opened and exposed and feeling way too much. Try as we might to keep from feeling pain, sometimes it's just unavoidable. Bones break. Organs burst. Flesh tears. We can sew the flesh, repair the damage, ease the pain. But when life breaks down, when we break down, there's no science, no hard and fast rules. We just have to feel our way through.Pain engulfed Khushi as she drifted into darkness. Arnav who stood numb, had no idea of what to do. Helplessness was something he always abhorred and now, he was going through the same damn feeling. He wanted to save Khushi, but at the same time he was the one to give her the pain. She slipped into unconsciousness and fell into Arnav's arms, the very same one who had caused her the pain. He just held her close to his heart, hoping that her heart would never stop beating or else his would. This feeling was just alien to her, but right now it didn't matter. Khushi was drifting into darkness and Arnav was just holding her in his arms.
The doctor, along with the nurses, came rushing in and were initially surprised to see Khushi again in this state. They immediately recovered themselves from the sudden shock and ran to help them.
" Excuse me, sir. You will have to leave.", the nurse informed him, a bit scared of his reaction. But, he didn't bulge an inch for he did not want to leave Khushi in this situation at any cost. Oblivious to this, Khushi had enough of this bullshit. She just wanted to give up. His damn feelings didn't matter to her anymore, for she had lost hers.
Since childhood, she wished for a caring and a loving husband who would cherish her and respect her. For her, the pillars to a successful marriage were 3 feelings-Trust, Respect and Love. Their relationship lacked the very first important pillar - Trust. He did not trust her and that very feeling killed her from the inside. She was just like a hollow void and her feelings had faded away. She was merely breathing, but she wasn't alive. She was dead from the inside.
The very same was with Arnav. He wanted to trust Khushi but the facts which were presented to Arnav in cunning and a manipulative manner kept him away from the truth. His feelings fluctuated and were not stable at all. At one time, he felt love and an unknown feeling. At the same moment, his feelings would get replaced by abhorrence and hatred towards her. He always hated these Feelings. For him, these feelings had the biggest unabashed magic. Capable of both inflicting injury and remedying it.
Her wound had further increased due to the pain Arnav gave and it was so unbearable that her brain had been affected due to which she fainted. The doctor gave her a shock. At first, her body did not recover much to Arnav's fear. It was clearly visible that she did not want to live, but Arnav's not-confessed love kept her alive.
In those quite moments after the self-created storm did Arnav realize what just had happened. Unable to process anything except Khushi's unstable state, he tried shoving off the negative thoughts that were constantly haunting him since the very starting of this storm. Most importantly, this storm was self-created and the creator was none other than Arnav himself while Khushi was the victim. A victim who had not even committed a single mistake. Pity her.
The doctor had informed them about Khushi's unconscious state and the fact that stress and tension had caused her to faint. Hearing this, Arnav felt even more guilty, but now he was prone and addicted to it. His life was no less than a mess he himself had created. He could not forget the stern and cold look in her eyes when she said that he 'used' her, and the pleading and disbelief look when he said the cold words alleging her being in a relationship with Shayama as if she was pleading that she's innocent. What if she was? What if all this was nothing but a damn misunderstanding? What if? That's when it hit him. What if all this is a trap laid by that f**king Shayam and even Khushi was just a pawn in it like him?
He knew somewhere in his heart that Khushi could not do it, but his mind was used to betrayal and so, it refused to believe her. But, now after seeing that look into her eyes, he knew something or the other was wrong.
And, in that instant moment he swore he would find out the real truth not the one, guarded by his ego and Shayam's so called truth.
Under the warmth of the ICU, Khushi, with an immense pain, managed to open her tired yet beautiful eyes. Her head was bursting with headache, her wrist under immense pain. She forced her eyes open, registering the not - so - familiar surroundings and found herself in an ICU with no. of machines around her. She flickered her eyelids for a considerable amount of time till she focused her vision on someone. Someone sleeping, with his rough and manly hands intertwined in her, his head on her stomach. That man, was Arnav Singh Raizada, the one she least expected to see. Unable to process anything but his sleeping figure, she again looked around to see if she's alive or in a damn dream. Suddenly, pain in her wrist made her realize she was not in a dream but in reality.
Sensing Khushi fidget, Arnav sleepishly woke up just to see Khushi wide awake with a hint of disbelief and shock smitten all over her face. Her eyes were red, her face was pale and she had gone anorexic. Her eyes didn't seem to sparkle like it always did. Before he met her, to be precise.
Khushi's notice did not miss Arnav's disheveled state, with his eyes red, most probably because of crying. But, why would he cry if she died? That question remained unanswered for she tried to ignore it.
" Khushi " Arnav's husky voice called out to her, which did send a shock in her spine. But, she chose to remain ignorant to him considering his behavior.
" Khushi, I'm sorry for what I said. I didn't mean to, I mean-" He began speaking his mind out.
"- Mr Raizada, no need to be sorry because I'm used to it. For a change, I have a good news - I don't care anymore. I've lost all the damn feelings. Everything. I don't give a shit to how you behave with me. All I want is these 6 months to be over so that I can get away from you. As far as possible so that even your memories won't haunt me. Just these remaining 3 months, and I'll be away from you. Just to remind you, Mr Arnav Singh Raizada that I hate you with all my heart and soul. I've never felt such a disgust even from that f**king Shayam but for you, I hate you. So, stay away from me as far as possible." She said in a firm yet a weak voice.
Where she got this energy from, she was unknown. Still, she spoke against Arnav, the one whom she once feared. Nevermind, the fear went out of the window for she knew that all he could do is probably kill her, and that's what exactly she wanted. So, she spoke leaving all the fears behind. It was the truth, she didn't care anymore. Feelings had faded away, and much to Khushi's happiness they won't come back. For that's what she thought and wished for.
Arnav listened to this girl who had gone through so much of pain because of him and it was justified. His ears popped out when she said
' f**king Shayam' and listening to her the hatred in her voice when she took that bas***d's name, he was sure something was fishy.
He was somewhere hurt when he heard her say that she hated him. Wait, what else could he except other than hate for what he had done. He had practically ruined her life with no mistake of hers. He felt his blood boil when she
' I've never felt such a disgust even from that f**king Shayam but for you, I hate you. ' Did she actually hate him more than Shayam? Wait, did she hate Shayam?
His head was spinning due to the questions that twirled in his mind, but he just kept staring at her. Her eyes spoke for itself, she was saying the truth. And, this time even his mind could not contradict it.
Shyam after having realized that Khushi is fine again, rejoiced at the news. His evil motive of making Khushi his, would now get completed. He let out a laugh at the tragic life of Arnav Singh Raizada and Anjali. Poor people, don't even know what kind of storm was awaiting them. He smirked at the self-assumed fact that no one can mess up with Shayam.
" Khushiji, I'm coming for you. And, this time I'm gonna make you mine. Forever. No Arnav Singh Raizada can ever come between us." He let out an evil smirk which complemented his raised eye-brow. His plans were evil, the one which would make anyone shudder.
He had always admired Khushi. In a dirty way, to be precise. He wanted her to be his, and in that struggle he chose even the wrong way. His passion for her was so intense that he didn't care about her approval or consent. All he ever cared about was Khushi's body not her emotions.
Khushi, after sleeping for hours woke up with a new refreshing energy. Her headache had lessened owing to the painkillers she consumed. Her hand wasn't paining much for she been sedated. She just felt druggish but she somewhat liked this state. All she could ever feel was nothing. The feeling of Nothing or Numb felt amazing to her for she at once forgot everything.
With reluctance, she opened her eyes again hoping not to see Arnav's face. Well, God was in a good mood. So, she woke up seeing no one. Better, she thought.
She heard some advancing footsteps. Her eyes shot up to the manly figure just to realize it was Arnav.
" Hey, darling. Good morning. How are you feeling?" Arnav gave a million dollar smile that almost took her breath away. His tone was loving with full of concern.
Khushi was sleepy, but Arnav's sudden concern jerked her back. What the f**k is happening? What is he behaving so sweetly? She chose not to reply, but rather she looked dumbly at him as if he was a ghost. He smirked at her reaction.
" I guess you are still tired, Khushi. You should rest some more." Arnav again said with love in his eyes.
" I...I.. I mean. I don't .. " She stammered. Well, she ought to owing to the big surprise Arnav just had given her without even sufficient time to absorb it.
He knew she must have been surprised. Why wouldn't she? After all this time, this is the very first time when he was behaving nicely with her. This was the first time when instead of giving her pain, he was showering love and concern over her. His eyes were filled confusion, and he noticed a twinge of hope that this behavior would remain forever. But as they say, " Forever is too good to be true.".
" Khushi, here's some food. The doctor said you will have to eat it. Come on, get up." Arnav said in a commanding voice not caring about her reaction. He moved in front, kept the food on the table and made his way towards her. She was trying to get up but her efforts were in vain. The pain was way too much. He bent forward to pick her up but as soon as his hands touched her shoulders, she jerked away as if he was an alien to her.
His eyes grew bigger as rejection took over him. His face reflected the turmoil he felt inside. Hurt, was a part of it.
" Stay away from me." She said in a deadly tone which surely send some shivers down Arnav's spine.
However, he did not let it affect him. He had to make sure Khushi recovers and even if it meant hurting himself in the process, so be it.
" Oh, come on." Arnav replied trying his best not to show this hurt in his voice. He again put his hands on her shoulders but this time his jerks did not affect him for he was strong
.
" You'll hurt yourself only. So, stop." Arnav replied hoping she would stop jerking and hitting him.
She made a whining and a complaining face which almost took His breath away. Filled with innocence, her face radiated positive energy, but he was too late to notice. She immediately stopped when she saw him staring at her.
" Here's the food." He said bringing the tray in front of her.
