Part Ten

That evening Arnav receives a warm welcome from entire Raizada clan. Anjali gives him a bear hug as soon as he sets his foot inside the house. They sit to talk for long.

Arnav - Di it's good that you took an off from office today. You look fresh.
Anjali- How do you know Chotey.
Arnav- I went there.
Anjali- OK but I had to do a lot of work here today. (Smiling)
Arnav- What work Di? (Tensed)
Anjali- I had to do a lot of shopping. (Excited)
Arnav- Shopping? (Raises his eye browses)
Anjali happily gives him already known news to Arnav- Your marriage is fixed Chotey. Tomorrow we are going to Gupta's for Shagun, for both of you brothers. Anjali beams.
Arnav plasters a smile.
Anjali speaks in same excitement- Tomorrow we will fix the dates also. For Roka, Mehndi, Haldi, Marriage... everything... Anjali happiness knows no bound today.
Arnav- Good Di, do I need to go with you?

Anjali nods happily on which Arnav says an okay and goes to change. Anjali frowns behind his back muttering "is he going for a deal? "Okay!" No excitement whatsoever! ASR kahika..." she giggles on her own joke but what does she know?

Here Khushi goes to a Devi Mayiaa's temple and sits there to ease her mind. After a long struggle to calm herself she is ready to leave. She folds her hand before the idol and speaks in her mind, Hey Devi mayiaa aab to faisla kar chuke hain, bas ashirvad dijiye ke hausla na tute.'(Oh DM I have taken the decision, just bless me that I don't lose my determination.) And she leaves the temple.
She steps in the house. An overjoyed Bua scolds her for being late but then hugs her an inch of her life to show her happiness and joy for her wise decision. Payel gives her a warm hug and whispers near her ear, "Are you happy Khushi?" the concern of the elder sister for her little sister can clearly be heard... Khushi comes out of the embrace and
smile faintly to affirm her.

Shagun:

In morning Arnav decides to use his precious time in better thing like going to office and finish a few things before he will be forced to take leave for this sham of a wedding. But when Anjali and Akash are on mission no one... means no one... even ASR cannot escape.

So now he is all ready and set to go to Gupta house.

Garima and Shashi have managed to come in the early morning and the chaos inside the household can make you believe that the wedding is today only. They don't want any gravamen form their daughters' in-laws. But in their hubbub none notice the paleness on Khushi's face.

The Raizadas receive a warm and hearty welcome from Guptas. When all of them settle in their small leaving room, Akash starts looking here and there, in hope to get a glimpse of Payel. Arnav fumes at his brother's Romeogiri. He is already pissed off with all this mockery he has been forced into and now his brother acting like lovesick teenager, sitting beside him.
Anjali watches Akash's restlessness. She bites he lips to stop the giggle and playfully says, "aab larkiyo ko bula hi lijiye humare larko ko aur intejar nehi ho raha hai. (Call the girls our boys can't wait anymore.)"
Where Akash blushes, Arnav blurts, what the...? Anjali rolls her eyes on him.
Guptas and the rest of Raizadas burst out in laughter.

Garima and Buaji go to bring the girls and as they arrive all stare in awe. Akash stares Payel as there is nobody in the room.

After much effort Arnav lifts his eyes to look at least once at Khushi's face to satisfy others in the room and then there he is all lost in her...

She is wearing a beautiful pink anarkali, making her complexion brighter. Her eyes are looking down but the dark line on her eyelids, the pinkish shed on her cheeks and her cherry lips, painted to look more curved and red, making her look ethereal.

Arnav wonders, is she really belong on this earth... She is looking like a dream... as if he will wake up and she will evaporate in thin air... There she looks up... damn, she is mesmerizingly beautiful...

Arnav's breathing becomes heavy.

But there is something missing... Arnav concludes...Yes her buoyant smile... Her twinkling eyes look gloomy and are those dark circles hidden under the make-up?

What the...? Arnav himself amused with his thought process... When did he start to study Khushi Gupta's features and facial expressions? Damn... this girl... he has seen many beauty in his life and fortunate enough to spend great times with them but ever did he notice what their face express and here he is... marrying a girl in contract, whom he hates but cares to notice her every detail... Arnav Singh Raizada you are losing your focus because of this girl... Bring your compose and ASR front back... he chides himself.

Elders fix the Roka, Mehndi, Haldi and Marriage dates with the help of Panditji. In about 10 days all the functions will take place.

Raizadas come back to their house and sit to chalk up the entire plan regarding the grand wedding. Arnav leaves the place silently and goes water his plants.

Gardening is his hobby and only interest. He has his own poolside garden. He takes care of it all alone. Working here makes him relax and calm.

He is watering the few flower plants of his garden when the pink colored Daisy reminds him of Khushi.

She looked like a fresh daisy herself but her gloomy eyes... That day when he forced her for contract marriage, her eyes looked pained after the fight ;(if you call it so)... today was no difference.

He frowns.

What the...? ASR what has happened to you. You are caring for her. You are disgusting.

He leaves the place stomping.

At night in Gupta house Garima and Bua are talking when everyone asleep.
Garima- Jiji Khushi itna Khush nehi lagat haii jitna hona chahiye. Uski marzi hai na shadime? (Jiji Khushi doesn't seem as happy as she should be.)
Buaji- Hai re Nand Kishor!! Tum to janat ho Sanka devi ko, uu dukhi hogi humhe chorke jaane ke khayal se aur kuch nahi. (Oh Nand Kishor, you know Sanka Devi she must be sad of the thought of leaving us.)
Garima- Shayed aap thik kah rahi hai Jiji. Par Jiji aapko nahi lagat hai Khushi bitiya ke bareme hume unhe sari bate bata dena chahiye? (Hope you are right Jiji. Don't you think we should talk to them about her?)
Buaji- Ha Nand Kishor humbhi ohi soche the lekin jab Khushi Bitiya boli ki Anjali bitiya ko sab pata hai to hum nischint hui gaye. (I thought the same but after Khushi told me Anjali knows everything, I am relaxed)
Garima- aap to hum bhi nischint hui gaye. (Now I am relaxed too)

Khushi who is been eavesdropping the conversation thinks to herself...

Whatever they know about me is enough for a 3 month relationship. But for Amma she should look happy or she will be suspicious.

At Raizada mansion next morning:

All are sitting lazily before the preparation of big events. Only Anjali has gone to office early as she will be unavailable for next 10 days.
Arnav as usual gets ready and comes down for breakfast.
In breakfast table Arnav first looks around at every face and then starts, " Nani aapse kuch baat karni hai."(Nani I want to talk to you)
Nani- Kahiye bitwa. (Tell me)
Arnav- Nani apko nehi lagta hum dono bhai shadi kar rahe hai jabki Di humse bari hai and technically unki bare me hume pahle sochna chahiye tha? (Nani dont you think we brothers are getting married when di is elder and technically we should have thought about her first)
Nani- ye to aap bohothi sahi baat kahi bitwa. (You have said right)
Everyone nods.
Nani again says, "par aap to jaanat hai Anjali bitiya ko. Aap dono bhaion me unki jaan basat hai, khas aap chotey. Unhe aapki chinta humesha lagi rahti hai. Isi liye humne jab bhi ubse shaadi ki baat kiye wo taal di. (But you know her. You brothers are her life, especially you. She always cares for you. That's why whenever I tried to talk about marriage she ignored.)
Now Mamiji beams, "Hello hai, Sauma, aabhi Chotey ki care karike liye Happy to aai rahi hai to tensionwa bye bye. (ter Hello hai, Sasuma, now happy will come to look Chotey, so tension by bye.)
A confused Akash asks, "Happy?... Mom?"
Mamaji, "samjhe nahi bitwa... Khushi ko angrezima ka kahe hai, Happy... Kal to bitwa tumahari ma ne dictionary se Payel ka bhi anrezi dhund li. KaMono? (You didn't understand son, what is meaning of Khushi in English- happy. She searched the dictionary yesterday for English of Payel. Right Mono?) He chuckles.
Akash looks at his English sick mother with horror.
Mamiji- Yes yes. enkelet. (Anklet).
Akash gasps, "no Mom Khushi and Payel are OK".
Mamiji looks disappointed. No one acknowledges her passion for English.
Arnav shaking his head tries to concentrate to the work in hand, "Nani, Mamaiji sahi bol rahi hai aab to Di ko humari fikar nehi honi chahiiye. (Nani, Mamiji is right. Di should) not be worrying for us anymore)"
Nani (thoughtfully) - Ha bitwa lekin tumhe chorke janeka khayal unke liye bohothi mushkil hai. (Yes, but the thought of leaving you is tough for her.)
Arnav- Par wo shadi ke baad bhi to eeha rah sakti hai? (But she can live here after marriage also.)
Nani- Kaisan baat kahe ho bitwa. Larki shaadi ke baad aapni sasural jati hai keuke wohi phir larki ka ghar pariwar hota hai. Khushi aur Payel bhi to humare paas aayengi. (What are you saying? Every girl goes to the in-laws after marriage, because that is their home and family then. Khushi and Payel are also coming here. )
Arnav- agar larke ka ghar pariwar na ho to? (If boy doesn't have a family then?)
Nani- to baat alag hai, par aaisan larka wo bhi achha, hum kaha dhoondenge? (That is different. But where will we find such boy? )
Arnav- dhoondne ki jaroorat kya hai, jab larka paas hi me hai? Aap logo ko Shayam kaisa lagta hai? (Why do you want to find when he is just there for you? What do you think about Shyam?)
Mamaji- bohot hi achha. (Very nice)
Mamiji- bhary good.
Akash nods in support.
Nani- ye to hum sochehi nahi. Par shyam aur bitiya mane to...
Arnav cuts her in middle and says, mane hue hai Nani,
Naini looks questioningly.
Arnav- ha Nani, they like each other and I know Shyam loves Di. I have heard him saying that.
Mamiji(shocked) - vat? (what?)
Akash- really bhai?
Mamaji stares.
Nani- agar ee baat hai to hum baat karenge unse. Aab to un maana karni ki koi karan hi nehi hai. (If this is the case then we will talk to them. There is no reason for them to say no.)
All supports her happily.

Nani calls Shyam and asks her to come with Anjali.
When they come, they see all family members are there even Arnav, and something in their look tell them there is something fishy in here.

Shyam and Anjali both get shocked and embarrassed when they come to know that everyone knows about them.

After a rapid fire round all members get happy to know that they are truly and deeply in love and moreover they really respect each other for what they are. Shyam is more than ready to take the next step. But Anjali doesn't get happy with the proposal to live in RM after marriage. She thinks Shyam will be offended.

Shyam gets it from her face and assures her that he feels lucky to get a loving family, he always craved for. But just the family not the wealth related to the family.

Anjali and Shyam, both want a simple private wedding that also after Arnav and Akash' marriage, as Anjali doesn't want the spot light on her when both her little brothers are all set to step in their new beginning.

After much discussion and with panditji's suggestion, the date gets fixed after a week of Akash and Arnav's wedding.

Raizada family couldn't have asked for more. Three of their kids are starting their new life with best suitable partners. God is great.
