Part Seven :
Around half an hour later her eyelids flutter. As she struggles to open them first thing she feels the shooting pain in her head. She lifts her hand to rub her temple to soothe the pain but finds something covering a small place there, which she feels like a band-aid and that is when she remembers,The fall.
She looks around and in a moment realizes that it is His room, of all the places in Raizada mansion... his room, his bed!!?
She tries to lift herself up. Payel who has dozed off for few minutes feels the movement beside her and gets alert. She looks on her side to check Khushi and is glad to see her awake... "Khushi, sukar hai Devi Mayiaa ki... tu thik hai? Ruk..." she helps her up.
Khusi feels her body parts are aching owed to the fall and she just cannot move her left arm, it is badly twisted and swollen. Payel asks her to stay put and goes out to inform the family who are waiting for Khushi to gain consciousness.
Payel wouldn't have gone far as the adjacent French door swings open swiftly not making much noise and emerges the figure of Arnav Singh Raizada through it.
Khushi has just rested her back on the pillow which Payel has placed against the wall before leaving to make her feel comfortable. Her eyes are closed. Pain is visible in her expression, still not aware of his presence in the room. Too occupied with the aching head and hand to notice that.
The guilt again knocks inside Arnav which makes him ask before he can stop himself to do so, "Tum thik ho?" He himself is surprised by the tenderness in is voice.
Khushi eyes shots open to find him standing near her feet and staring at her with concern. If she is right then she can see a little glint of guilt in his eyes. But Khushi doesn't reply only stares back.
Arnav again asks a little louder, "Tum thik ho?"
Khushi nods in positive. Whatever he is feeling but he is the reason of her condition so there is no need to spend words on him.
Arnav feels a little annoyance creeping inside him because of her silence but he is in fault here so it is better to keep the irksome feeling at bay this time. He sees everyone is entering the room so he takes a few steps back to give them room to talk to her.
Bua- Hai re Nand Kishor, sukar hai sanka devi jo hosh aai gawa... (Good to see you in senses)
She gives a small hug to Khushi.
Mami- hello hai Khushi bitwa vat (what) happening? Kaise flat hui gayi? (How do you fall?)
Khushi smiles at her concerned feel funny English query.
Nani- aab kaisi ho bitiya?(how are you now?)
Khushi (smiling) - hum thik hai, aap sab log chinta mat kariye. (I am alright. Don't worry.)
Akash- good to see you back... Shyam nods in acceptance of Akash's words.
Khushi smiles to them fondly.
Anjali- dard ho raha hai Khush? (is it paining Khushi?)
Off course it is but Khushi shakes her head with half closed eyes to assure her...
"Thik hai to batayiye aap giri kaise?" (Ok then tell me how did you fall?) Anjali asks inquiringly.
Arnav's gaze darts from Khushi to Anjali and back to Khushi and he sighs. He has kept that part to himself. Now she will tell Di and then Di is going to give him heck of a time and worst, others too.
How bad it could be? Arnav brace yourself... you need to be the ASR and then It is only DI... anyways I didn't do it purposely... but he doesn't sound convinced to himself too.
Khushi looks at Arnav from the corner of her eyes, his face is not giving any expression ... she says surprising ASR to the core, "wo hum jaldi me fisal gaye."(I slipped in hurry)... she can't hurt Anjali and Nani.
Bua- Ka sanka devi, kis baat ki itni jaldi pari rahti hai tumhe aain, Nand Kishor?(Why do you always in hurry?)
Khushi doesn't answer just sighs looking at Arnav. Same blank look. Little she knew that he is completely stunned inside, thinking and tossing hard every possible reason for her not giving away the truth.
Why would she save me? Why would she lie when she has had a lucrative chance of taking revenge, of every insult, in front all? Is she scared? Or trying to be Mahan?
Bua- cholo Titliya aab ghar chale. (Let's go home)
Anjali- nehi Buaji... Itni der ho gayi hai to raat ka khana khake jana parega. Aaise bhi Khushi ko thori aur der aaram karne dete hai... (It's late... have dinner and go... let Khushi take rest some more time.)
Bua- nahi bitya aab Khushi thik lag rahi hai, chalna chahiye. (No she is all right, we should go)
Khushi tries to support Buaji," Ha hum thik hai (I am OK)"... But she doesn't get to complete her sentence as an unexpected voice interrupts her "Ya right"... everyone, especially Anjali and Khushi turn towards the person...it is Arnav Singh Raizada. He continues, "Stay there and take rest"
All most everyone in the room gape at him minus Buaji who is unaware of his true nature. Arnav leaves the place leaving after commanding to Khushi.
Anjali smiles inwardly, she is right, he cares.
Everyone goes out of the room leaving a utterly shocked Khushi behind. She cannot think of Arnav caring for her in wildest dream.
After sometime everyone gathers to have dinner.
Payel helps Khushi to come down for dinner. She is limping a little. When Arnav is deciding over should he go to help or not, Akash goes. Both of them help Khushi to seat beside Anjali.
All seats are filled. Shyam is also there in Nani and Anjali's request. All of them have dinner with great joy. A Real Family Dinner.
Arnav watches Khushi throughout the dinner... she is smiling, laughing, not caring how much her hand is paining or her head is aching. This adds to his guilt a little more and wonders what this girl is made of.
After dinner Akash goes to drop Khushi, bua and Payel.
Shyam sits with Anjali and Arnav. But Arnav leaves in 5 minutes to call a foreign client.
Arnav sits by the pool after making the call. He closes his eyes to relax when the accident flashes before his eyes... his leaving her hand and her rolling down the stairs and hitting her head on the stand... his eyes shot open. He wants to know if she is alright and has reached home safely. He goes to check if Akash has come but stops on his track as he hears a part of conversation between Di and Shyam...
Di- you should move on with your life (in a depressed voice).
Shyam- no I will wait (a pause) for you. (He sounds firm in his decision)
Di- but you know we both don't know how long will be this wait.
Shyam- It's oK.
Di- you know I can't move from this house leaving Chotey alone.
Shyam- I know that. I know you will not marry me until you get him married and it's totally accepted. I love you Anjali, I understand you. He is like your son, I know that. I understand your love and affection for him. You care for him more than anyone even yourself. It's totally fine with me. (He looks at Anjali lovingly) You know, when I have fallen in love with you, I promised myself that I will be with you all along without any expectation let me just do that.
Di- how long Shyam?
Shyam- forever...
That's it. Arnav has heard enough. He turns on his heel and leaves the place at once, not wanting to hear more. This much knowledge is enough ... he is shocked beyond limit and equally hurt, hurt for his sister... he drags his feet till his room and locks the door behind. Totally shattered the new piece of information he starts pacing in the room.
DI and Shyam love each other... how long... I... am the reason they are not together ... No.
He cannot believe himself being the reason of keeping Di's love away... SHYAM
He sits with a thud on the recliner, leaning his back he closes his eyes only to get lost in his memories.
Shyam, he met him while he was in states. He was in the same collage but final year student. Still they became good friends. Shyam was an orphan like him and a scholarship student. Shyam left collage after graduation and went back to India. Arnav too came back after his post graduation in fashion product & production management and started his own company with Akash and Mama. That was 6 years back.
He contacted Shyam as decided between friends, who was a manager in a multi-national company, and requested to join him as business partner. He gladly came ready to help him but took the same position in his company, in which he was working in other company instead of Arnav's insistence of partnership.
When Di started her boutique Arnav asked him to help her as he trusted him enough to let him work with her. That also he did as enthusiastically as he worked in AR.
Best person he can ever imagine for Di.
But it never has occurred to him, that Di can also want a life like any other girl. He has always taken her for granted. He is selfish indeed.
Arnav gets up from the recliner and again starts pacing.
He is a fool. How could he be so blind to see that her Di is sacrificing all her happiness for him, even her love?
He stops and fist both hand. No he can't do this to her. He stands by the pool his gaze fixed in nothing particular.
Marriage, he doesn't believe in this so call union of souls.
His parents were married and what a pathetic example of a couple. Dad always kept Ma away from his every decision. He cheated on her, ignored her. But she kept mum. He loved his Ma so much. She was a wonderful woman and a very loving mother. She died when she couldn't take his father's miserable behavior anymore. Di was 18 and he was 15 that time. Their father didn't care what they went through after Ma died and himself died after 2 years because he was an alcoholic and his kidney failed. Arnav didn't care for him though his Di cried a lot. But their misery continued. They were kicked out of their house by their uncle and also he took over Malik textile (Arnav's father company). They were helpless and shattered. They came here... Nani, Mami and Mama took care of them. Helped them to complete their studies. Arnav knew that Mami sold all her jewelries in order to help him establish his business and he promised her and the family that he will give them all the riches and happiness they deserve.
That is how Arnav Malik died and a ruthless, arrogant, angry in one word the monster ASR (Arnav Sing Raizada) was born. He was no more Malik. He was only his Ma's son, a Raizada.
He makes a decision...
He doesn't believe in the sacred union of love. He will marry any girl her Di chooses for him. He will let her move in her life with her love. He will free her from all her worry...
Arnav has to wait for his Di to open the topic of his marriage as it is impossible for him to just go like that and tell them that get married. That will be a dangerous attempt to prove himself desperate. But he never expected it to be so soon.
Next morning Arnav comes down for breakfast. All family members are also there. Seeing Akash, arnav remembers of Khushi. He asks, "How is Khushi Akash?"
Akash managed to say while gaping at his brother "Good".
Looking at his strange face Arnav irritatingly asks, "What?"
Akash feels his mouth with a piece of apple and says, "Nothing".
Anjali grins...
Out of blue Anjali says while passing the juice to Arnav, "Chotey kuch baat karni thi... (Wanted to talk to you Chotey)."
Arnav- Yes Di...
Hearing his consent Anjali gets a little nervous to start her speech, " Wo tum... main... mera matlabt hai... hum... She tries hard to assemble the words together.
Arnav waits patiently to listen what she has to say. ASR gets irked if anyone stammers in front of him but Chotey does not.
Anjali, who knows her brother very well and about his views, is astonished but trying her luck for her love. As per Shyam, you can't put your weapons down without a fight. So here is her fight to convince an unbeliever. She inhales deep before she speaks with little confidence she gathers in that moment, "Chotey aab hume lagta tumhe apni shaadi ke bare me seriously soch na chahiye (now I think you should think about your marriage seriously)
Every head turn towards them.
Anjali prepares herself for all those infamous words which will about to come out of his mouth.
But shocking every one beyond imagination he answers, "As you wish Di".Well this isn't the moment he was waiting for...
Akash chokes in his apple, Mami whispers gaping, "hello hai, (and pause) bye bye". Mamaji drops his spoon, Nani looks at Anjali, which is mirroring her expression, eyes wide open and mouth is open in O shape.
Arnav stares around muttering numerous "What the" and "unbelievable" and leaves for office leaving behind his family to handle their shock.
After almost a minute later Akash says in a robotic way, "Bhai, Shadi" (brother and marriage)
Mami again says, "Hello hai, bye bye"
Mamaji says, Arnav bitwa to hume shock wa de gaye (Arnav has given us a shock.)
Anjali now comes out of her trance and manages to speak looking at, "Nani, Hum ne sahi suna na Nani ya hume laga ke Chotey ne aaisa kaha ki wo Shaadi ke liye razi hai" (have I heard it right Nani? Or it was my imagination that I heard Chotey say yes for marriage?)
Nani who is equally shocked just nods; God knows positive way or negative.
Finally Anjali lets out a squeal and asks HP to distribute sweets. Everyone rejoices.
Arnav hears the outburst while crossing the porch and exclaims again "unbelievable."
An overjoyed Anjali sits with Nani and Mami for discussion. Anjali has taken a leave from work today to discuss about Chotey's marriage with other ladies in the house and her plans.
Anjali- Nani jab Chotey ne ha bol diya hi hai to mere najar me ek ladki hai... (When Chotey have agreed then I have a girl in mind)
Before Nani can ask Mami asks excitedly, "whoz the girl Anjali Bitwa? Tell tell. Hello hai."
Nani looks at Anjali keenly.
Nani- "Kaun bitiya?" (Who?)
Anjali- Khushi.
Mami- haaain!!
Anjali- Ji mami ji.(Yes Mami)... Then looks at Nani and says, ha Nani (yes Nani)
Nani- ye aap ka kah rahi ho? Un dono ki to bilkul nahi banti. (What are you saying? They don't get along well.)
Mami- yes yes.
Anjali smiles and says, "Yes. Lekin kya aapne dekha hai, ohi ek ladki hai jo Chotey ke gusse ke samne khari rah pati hai... aap ko yaad hai Chotey ki so called girlfriend Lavannya, kaise bhag gayi thi..."(but have you noticed, she is the only girl, who can stand his anger. Do you remember his so called girlfriend Lavannya, how she ran away?)
Mami- yes yes ekdam 1 2 ka 4 hui gayi. Juti, skirt uthai ke bhagi thi. Rememberz. (Yes, fled to never come back)
Nani- Ha bitiya Chotey ke gusse ko sambhal na aur jhelna asaan baat nahi. (Right, it is not easy to handle his anger.)
Anjali- lekin maine Khushi ko dekha hai Chotey ki gusse ki samna karte hue aur unhe chup karate hue. (But I have seen her handling the blow of his wrath and to shut him up)
Nani and Mami both look shocked. But Anjali doesn't go into details of Diwali night, only says, "ha Nani, chup bhi karaya aur galti ka ehsaas bhi dilaya. Aur Chotey bhi to unki parwa karte hai. Dekha nehi kal jab wo sirio se gire the to kaise unhe aapne kamre me le gaye, unka kheyaal rakkha aur unki tabiyat ke bare me Akash se pucha bhi(Yes Nani. She has successfully shut him up and also made him realize his fault. And you have seen him worrying for her. Didn't you see when she fall from stairs, how he took care of her and also asked Akash about her health)
Mami and Nani nod vigorously. Their eyes are lighting with hope.
She continues, "aaise bhi wo bohothi aachi ladki hai. Aur ye baat pakki ho gayi to ek aura acchi baat ho gi, humare gharme devrani, jethani ka jhagra kabhi nehi hoga." (Anyways she is a nice girl. If this thing gets fixed then we there would be no devrani , jethani fight in this house.) She smirks at Mami with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
Mami (confused)- haaain!!
Anjal(smiling wide)i - ha Mami ji, aap ko pata nehi humare Akash bhai ka dil bohot pahlehi Payel ke liye diwana ho gaya hai. (You don't know Mami but Akash has already fallen for Payel)
Mami- haaain(Utterly shocked)!!!!
Nani- sach bitiya? (excited)
Anjali- ha nani. Agar sab kuch thik raha to ek mandap me (if everything works out properly then in same alter)... Before she can complete...
Mami expresses her joy, hui jai dono ki hello hai marriage wa.(both brothers will get married)
Rukiye Mami pahle Payel aur Khushi ki rai le le, unki pariwar walo se baat kare, tab jaake aage ki sochenge. (Mami ji let us first talk to the girls and their family then we will think further)
Mami- yes yes. You are rightwa... But still she cannot control her little grin.
Anjali, Nani and Mami decide to go in Gupta house in evening.
Nani, Mami and Anjali go together in Buaji's house in the evening to ask Payel and Khushi's marriage proposal.
Buaji who is as happy as afraid getting such proposals for her brother's daughters from such big family gets assured by Anjali and Nani. They talk to Sashi and Garima over phone. The girls are yet to return from office but as it will take time for them to return, Raizada women leave asking Buaji to let them know their decision, which Buaji assures will be Yes.
Raizada House late at night:
Arnav, Mama, Akash come back from office and join the ladies of Raizada House in living room.
When they are having their tea, Anjali clears her throat and starts talking, "Akash, Chotey (both look at her) humne aap logo ke liye larkiya pasand ki hai..." (Akash, Chotey we have chosen girls for you) But Anjali's speech gets interrupted in middle with two loud WHAT together from two directions. Arnav and Akash stare her like watching the eighth wonder of the earth.
Anjali says amused, "You heard me right."
Akash (nervously)- "Di aapne to Bhai ke shaadi... I mean mere liye larki... I mean..." he just doesn't get his words together to form a proper sentence.
Arnav (surprised and shocked)- DI subha Ha bola aur sham tak aap logo ne larki dhund li?" (I said yes in the morning and you found girl by the evening?)
Nani- ha bitwa... aaise bhi aap ke man ka to thik nahi hai, kab badal jaye, isi liye(yes son, anyways you can change your mind anytime, so)... she doesn't finish the sentence as she tries hard not to laugh at the faces they have made.
Mami- bitwaz, girlz final hai... aab no arguz... maraize wa kariki pari. Hello hai, bye bye.
Akash (tries to protest)- but Mom..
Mami shuts him- no arguz.
Anjali (unable to hold the suspense)- Akash tum larki ko jaante ho aur shayed tumhe wo pasand bhi hai... (Akash you know the girl and you like her too). she smirks.
Akash (blurts) - Payel
Mami- hain!!
Mama- ka?
Arnav- what?
Anjal and Nani laugh aloud.
Akash excuses himself embarrassed and runs with a jumping heart from there.
Arnav just stares at his blushing brother's retreating back.
Anjali snaps him out of his shock, " Chotey tumko nehi janna ke humne tumhare liye kise chuna hai?" (Chotey don't you want to know whom we have chosen for you?)
Arnav sits straight.
Anjali- Khushi.
Arnav's eyes takes a round shape like saucer and it takes all his will power to control the what the' in his throat.
Anjali keeps talking and Arnav argues her in mind.
Anjali- yes. I know you like her
When Di got this idea?
Humne dekha jab unhe chot laga tho to tum kitne pareshan hue the... kitna khayal kiye the unka. (I saw when she got hurt, how worried you were... how you cared for her.)
She was hurt because of me. I was feeling guilty. Oh please... give me a break. Any girl, but her.
He silently leave the place and walks to his room.
Restless he space the length and the breadth of his room... he thinks of telling the truth to Di, but...
She will be hurt; no I can't tell her now. I have to find a way out... what... what... yes I can talk to Khushi. She can say no. yes. I will convince her to say no. By hook or by crook.
He starts for Khushi's house after taking her address from Shyam with determination to convince her out of this marriage at any cost.
Buaji's house:
Payel and Khushi come back from office.
Khushi goes to take a bath; Payel goes to help Bua in Kitchen.
Bua who was impulsively waiting for them to come, cannot hold her excitement and blurts out the news. She speaks a little loud so Khushi can also hear... " Payeliya, Titeliya tum logon ke liye bohothi accha rista aaya hai Nandkishore. (Payeliya. Titelyia there are good marriage proposals have come for you)
Payel says aloud- RISTA'.
Khushi also peeps out of the bathroom, her head is fool covered in foam, repeats the same Rishta'.
Ha bitiya tom dono ke liye... (Yes bitiya for both of you)
Khushi (nervous)- Rista, kiska... mera matlab... kaise... mera matlab kahase... mera matlab kaun... (Proposal... I mean... how... from where... I mean who...)
Buaji- Arre parmeshwari naha lo phir batat hai... (Oh Parmeshwari, take your bath, I will tell you then)
Khushi shouts from bathroom- Nehi abhi boliye (no tell now)...and mutters, pata nehi kaun changu mangu hai? (God know who are those monkeys are?)
Buaji sighs in defeat- Achha achha... wo tumhari Anjali bitya hai na wo layi hai rista. (OK OK, your Anjiliji has come up with those proposals)
"Kya" both sister say together.
Ha ... (yes).
With Payel the same thing happens as it happened with Akash and she blushes profusely.
Buaji pinch her cheeks lovingly and shakes a little, with a smile on her face
khushi is happy for her jiji and equally impatient blurts out- "Humare liye kya unke darwan ka rishta aaya hai." (have I go marriage proposal from their security gurd)
"Kya kahot ho shanka devi. Tumhare liye unke gharka doosra larke ka rista aaya hai." (what are you telling Sanka devi, you have it from the other boy of the house.)
"Dusra larka" (other boy) she mutters and then realizes it is Arnav and at the same time buaji also takes the name "Arnav Babua"
her hand slips from the door knob as she shouts "Kyaaa..." (what)
She comes out of the bathroom completely drenched in water wearing her discarded clothes and runs towards Kitchen, screaming "Nehiii..."
In her hurry she misses the kitchen and goes towards backyard through the other door but takes a U turn and comes back to them. Payel and Bua both are too shocked to react on her antics.
Finally Bua manages to speak, "hai re Nand kishore, ka karat ho sanka devi pura farsh gila kar diya. Jao pani poch ke aao. (What are you doing Sanka Devi? Go wipe yourself. You have wet the floor.)"
"Buaji yeha mere sharir se dhua nikal raha hai aur ap pani poch ne ki baat kar rahe ho" (Buaji here I am feeling smoking hot and you are asking to wipe myself.). Buaji mujhe bukhar aa raha hai lag raha hai. Main behosh ho jaooingi... (Buaji I am feeling feverish. I will faint. ) she holds her head and is about to fall, not because she is fainting because of the water on the floor.
Payel and bua catche her in time.
Natak bandh karo sanka devi. (Stop your acting Sanka Devi.)
Kya natak buaji. (What drama Buaji?)
Arnav singh Raizada se shaadi ka Khayalhi kitna darawna hai pata hai? (Do know how scary the thought is of marrying ASR?)
Ka ?

Payel suppresses her grin.
Payeliya tujhe bhi ka akash ji ko shaadi karne ka khayal bhootiya lagta hai. ( Payeliya do you also feel the same way?)
Payel nods in negative.
Arnav reaches the middle class colony of Laksmi Nagar. Taking in the locality he thinks
Raizada Mansion will be beyond her dream... will she say no? Raizada property is like treasure of forty thieves to her.
Arnav comes down from his black SUV and climbs the stairs of her house.
It's late shall I knock or call her out...
He is in a dilemma when he hears a voice. It is Buaji's. He sees an open window. Against his nature he peeps inside. There he sees Khushi completely wet...
The green suit is clinging to her body like second skin. Her fare skin is looking farer. Her hair is also dripping wet and little foam is still left. She is talking moving her hands. Arnav totally drools over her until he hears their conversation...
Buaji- Payeliya ko manjur hai toka keu nahi? (If Payeliya isready then why aren't you?)
Payel- Buaji uski marji aap keu jabardasti kar rahe ho? (It is her wish, why are you forcing her)
Buaji- ka marji? Itna accha rista kaun pagal mana karat hai? Ee to sirf Sanka devi kar sake hai. (what wish? Only a mad person will say no to him.)
Khushi- hum to hai hi sanka devi aur aap kya jaante hai us Laad governor ko. Humesha akar ke rahte hai, gussa to aaise karte hai jaise saans le rahe ho, aur kabhi muskurate hue dekha hai? Nehii..Kaun larki karega unse shaadi? (I am Sanka devi, that is why. What do you know about that LG. Buaji- koi bhi.(any girl)

Buaji - aare sanka devi kaisa lagega ek larki ke vaste ha bolenge dujeke liye na. (how it will look to say yes for one girl and no for other)
Payel- kuch nehi hoga. Anjali ji samjhengi. (Nothing will happen. Anjali ji will understand)
Khushi- ha. Hum baat karenge. Par us laad governor saadi nehi karenge. Paata chala unse saadi karke hum Khushi se Dukhi ban gaye. (Yes. I will talk. But won't marry that LG. God knows, if I marry him, from Khushi I will become Dukhi)
