Chapter 1:
They had been travelling for a few hours, when Sakshi told Sam that she was very hungry. Sam turned towards her and said that they'd be reaching very soon, and apologized for not having taken anything for them to eat. His mind had been on other things he said.
Something which wasn't new at all for Sakshi. Since she had met Sam, she has seen that Sam was very careless about other things, except where his job was concerned. When she had first him, she had been investigating a case, and their paths had crossed.
A few months ago
Sakshi's friend had just been mugged during a case. A minister's son was involved in this. Since everyone was too scared to even try anything against that minister, Sakshi had decided to do her own investigations. Since she was relatively new to the newspaper, and was mainly in charge for boring news, it was easy for her to go undercover to meet that Minister's son, Rajesh.
It had been relatively easy to meet Rajesh, and acting like a coy girl, Rajesh's attention had easily been drawn to Sakshi. Sakshi was going to put her at risk, so as to expose Rajesh. Given she was all alone, she had no fear if she would ever be killed. And she had also since long learned martial arts and was a black belt now, so she could easily fight anyone.
Like she had planned, it didn't take much time for Rajesh's true face to come out, but what she hadn't expected was that Rajesh never played fair. Though why would a scum like him ever play fair?! She had enough material to give her boss, but unfortunately Rajesh had come to know about her truth. She had found herself badly trapped.
She had been lying on the ground, with blood oozing from her mouth and nose, with a gun pointed at her head. She wasn't sad she was going to die, but that she hadn't succeeded to bring justice to her friend, and protect other innocent people against someone like Rajesh.
Those few seconds she had left, she closed her eyes and prayed for a miracle. She didn't believe in miracles, but then what difference did it make, given she hadn't any other things to do.
But, just this time, it seemed that god had finally listened to her, she had heard a gunshot, and thought she was going to die. However after a few seconds, when she felt no pain or anything, she also heard a man shouting in pain. She had opened up her eyes, and there was her hero. ACP Rathore was standing in front of her, with his gun pointed at Rajesh, while Rajesh was lying on the ground with his arm covered with blood.
"Are you ok?" ACP Rathore had asked her, gave her his hand to pull her up. But given she was too weak, he had to carry her out to the ambulance.
"Thank for saving me," Sakshi had mumbled before she fainted. She knew she was safe, so nothing mattered anymore, she thought when she felt herself losing consciousness.
A few hours later, she had awakened in a hospital, where ACP Rathore was sitting next to her bed.
Having heard a big lecture on risking her life and all, Sakshi had broken down infront of him. It was only then that Sakshi realized that risking her life for justice wasn't that easy as she had thought it would be. She wasn't a police officer and thus wasn't trained for such things, nor how to deal with the emerging emotions at that time.
But ACP Rathore had dealt with her, with her fears...
That had been the start of their beautiful friendship, and it had taken only a few weeks for Sakshi to realize that while she thought Sam was her hero, Sam himself needed more help than her. Though Sam never said anything, she could see how harsh he was treating himself. Something seemed to be eating him up, and that was killing him slowly each day. With her gentle nature and positive attitude, she had finally managed to make Sam smile within months.
Sam would be very protective about her, while she was very caring for her. But she never expected more from him, already his being near her, was more than enough for her.
Thus when Sam had finally proposed her a few weeks ago, she had been shell-shocked. She had been too confused to even answer back. She always knew she wasn't worth of someone like Sam, he was handsome, honest and a good person. While she had no knowledge of her parents and she didn't think she was beautiful at all. And thus she thought Sam had only proposed her, because he felt he had to protect her, so only out of sympathy.
It had taken lots of time and persuasion from her friends and Sam, for her to realize that he didn't pity her at all, nor he was joking. But what about love? That had been her second question! But apart from her friends and Sam, she didn't have anyone in her life. She had seen couples in love, and even read books, so she knew that she and Sam didn't have that spark between them. But then one of her friends had told her that, "Love doesn't last for long, while friendship and trust did!" and that she had in abundance in her relation with Sam. They both trusted and were very good friends. So finally she had said yes, and though she had expected Sam to be over-joyed, she had been a bit disappointed when Sam had smiled, kissed her on her cheek, and then nothing else.
After working for weeks without any rest, she had finally managed to get one week on leave from her work. Yesterday her vacation had started, and she had been preparing herself to relax and do lots of shopping, well as much as her budget could permit her of course. But Sam had again surprised her, saying why not visit his family, given she had the time now.
So today they had set-off quite early to go and visit Sam's family...

Since she hadn't even had time for a proper breakfast, and it was already past lunch time, Sakshi was really feeling hungry. But when Sam told her a half an hour more, she couldn't do anything. Sakshi stole a look at Sam's profile. Since she had accepted his proposal, nothing much had changed between them. They still behaved the same way with each other. He was hardly the typical romantic future-fiancee she had ever dreamed of, but what the heck, "Sabko ko muqamal jahaan nahin milta..."
Hopefully just like Sam had said, within a little less than half an hour, they reached Sam's home. While the SUV was driving in, Sakshi was too shocked to blink her eyes. This place looked like a palace. She was worried and turned to look at Sam.
As if sensing her fear and her eyes on him, Sam turned towards her and said, "Don't worry, all will be fine."
"But Sam, yeh apka ghar hein? You never said that you were so so wealthy," Sakshi mumbled with fear. Now she was sure none of Sam's family would accept her. She wanted to turn and run away, but since she had no means of transport, she had no other choice but to face Sam's family.
Sakshi got down of the vehicle, as slowly as she could, she was using each second to convince her heart that everything will go right. She was taking so much time that Sam, had to come to her side, and taking her hands in his, he guided her towards the main door.
Sakshi was looking at the house, and suddenly felt that she was being observed. She looked up and saw the curtains moving from one window. But she couldn't make out if really someone was looking at her or not. Maybe just a figment of her imagination.
Sam was just about to knock on the door, when the door was thrown opened and an elderly woman was standing infront of them.
"Samu?" the woman said with tears in her eyes, but a very big smile on her face. Sam bent down to touch her feet, and then both hugged. To Sakshi's eyes it seemed that they had met after a very very long time. Little did she know that Sam had never returned to his home since more than one year.
She waited for them to finish their hug, but it seemed that it would take some time. Finally after what seemed like a long time to her, finally both pulled back, and finally the woman was looking at her from head to toe. She was being examined she thought. She sincerely hoped that she'd come up to her expectations and all.
Finally she saw a smile on that woman's face, and that woman turned towards Sam and said, "Won't you introduce this young lady to us?"
"Yes Sam, won't you introduce this lady to us?! She looks completely lost here," another man said sarcastically. Sakshi turned her eyes towards his voice, and saw a young man coming towards them, and he didn't look happy at all to see her. His eyes were cold and angry when their eyes met...
that's all for today, so how was it? an interesting Chapter 1😳 or boring tha???
