"Finally, it's time for the summer break. God...this was one heck of a tiring semester" Khushi sighed as she stepped out of the bathroom and into her lavish apartment which she shared with her best friends; Lavanya AKA La and Payal. These three had started college together and over the three years of college they had eventually become best friends.
"I know right! And now we have our final year coming as well" Payal spoke as she looked up from the book she was reading. Lavanya got up from the comfy couch and grabbed Payal's book before chucking it in some corner, "Seriously Payal?! It's summer!! We wait for it from the start of the first semester and THIS is how you waste it!!" Lavanya complained. "Oh come on guys, this gonna be the best summer EVER!!" Lavanya cheered on with a dreamy look imagining herself to be sun-bathing on the Mauritius beaches and shopping in the Paris malls.
"Suree, you have been saying that from the last two summers and all you end up doing is sleeping and eating" Payal got up to look for her book. Khushi chuckled at her mates and got up to dry her hair with the hair dryer lying on side, plugged in. "No guys!! Seriously! This time NK said that he was planning something for all of us".
"All?" Khushi looked back curiously at who else was going along with them to whatever NK had planned. They knew about NK though, he was Lavanya's boyfriend from over a year now. He was a really sweet guy and was good friends with Khushi and Payal too. "You know, his friends...Akash..umm..Shyam..and.. Arnav" Lavanya scrunched her eyes, trying to remember the names NK had told her. Though, she had met them quite a few times, she still didn't remember their names quite well.
"Oh" Khushi said. These were more of the famous people of the college, basketball champions and all.
"And yes, yes, get your bags ready by tomorrow. It's a two weeks trip" Saying that Lavanya walked away, blowing on her freshly painted nails while Khushi and Payal just looked on shocked, "Tomorrow?!" Khushi and Payal shouted in reunion as they literally ran to their rooms to get the packing done in such a little span of time.

Khushi locked the door of their apartment before dropping the keys into her purse. She dragged her suit case towards the elevator where Payal and Lavanya were waiting for her with all their luggage. "Well, the guys are already down and apparently we are going to some guesthouse in the countryside on some "haunted" lake" Lavanya laughed on the stupid idea of calling a lake haunted . "What?!" Khushi asked confused, she wasn't told that they were going to some next up haunted lake or as Lavanya put it, "haunted" lake.
"Look!! There they are" Lavanya ran forward to hug NK who was leaning against the car. Khushi looked around at the two SUV's around and then at the people there. There was a guy in a red shirt with pants, a tall guy wearing a beige colored shirt and chinos and finally there was Arnav Singh Raizada, leaning against a white SUV, dressed in a black t-shirt and jeans with his hair gelled back, his tall and well-built body could be clearly seen through the thin cotton material of his t-shirt. Who didn't know him? He was like the famous people in the college.
"Guys this is Akash..." Lavanya pointed towards the guy in the chinos, "This is Shyaam..." it was the pink shirt guy, "and this is Arnav...". "She's Payal and she's Khushi" Lavanya carried on introducing as Arnav looked at the pretty girl in a Mickey Mouse' t-shirt and jeans standing there hesitantly. He knew she was Khushi Gupta, one of the toppers of the college. He had seen her receive the Jack Petchey achievement award in their achievement assembly at college and he had read her name always on the top of the list whenever the results came out. Arnav looked on as she struggled with her suit case, trying to lift it up to put it in the back of the car. "Mind if I help you?" Arnav walked over to her as she moved aside a little hesitantly. Arnav took the suitcase from her hand, in the procedure his fingers brushed over hers, unintentionally. Khushi moved back as a warm feeling ran inside her at their contact.
"Okay guys!! So how do we split up?" Lavanya said looking around at the two SUV's and then looked at Payal and Akash who were too busy talking to each other to listen to her. She smiled mischievously, "Why doesn't Akash drive the black SUV and Payal can sit next to him...you know they can continue with their little chat" Akash and Payal immediately looked at Lavanya and turned a light shade of red. Lavanya walked over to the back of the white SUV and sat there with NK next to her. Payal and Akash did what they were suggested and Shyaam went to sit at the back of the black SUV while Arnav went to the driving seat of the white SUV. Khushi looked around realizing, she just had two options either sit next to that Shyaam guy or Arnav. She would never go near that Shyaam, judging by the creepy looks he gave her so she silently walked over to the passenger seat.
"Umm...can I sit here?" Khushi asked Arnav who was looking ahead with his shades on.
"No" He replied with a poker face.
"What?!" Khushi widened her eyes at his reply.
"I'm joking...off course you can and why are you so hesitant?" Arnav's face broke into a smile as he looked at her questioningly.
"Uhh...I..." Khuhsi started when they heard the horn of the other car as it drove out of the main gate of the parking lot. Khushi just sat down and pulled the seat belt over as Arnav drove behind the other SUV.
"By the way, what's with this "haunted" lake?" Asked Lavanya as she made speech marks in the air with her fingers.
"It's like a guest house next to this supposedly haunted lake and then there's the woods next to it...thought we could have an adventure" NK quirked his eyebrows. And so NK and Lavnya got busy with their other chats. Mann...these are gonna be two long spooky weeks thought Khushi as she looked at Arnav beside her and thought about the place they were going to. She wasn't a very brave kinda person but the lake was probably just a simple lake and people just made out stories but little did she know that the stories were true...
