Chapter 4
NK was sleeping peacefully with the blanket covering his head, more like plastering his head. He was somewhat scared of this place, especially sleeping alone in this room but covering his face made him feel safe.
It was then when he heard a loud shriek followed by some more noises and then he had gotten up, tightened the strings of his alligator pyjamas and slipped in to his bunny slippers.
At first he was kinda hesitant to go out but then he made up his mind to take a sneak peek of the situation through the keyhole in the door. As he bent down and saw nothing but the kitchen door shaking violently, NK grabbed his Dolly the Dolphin stuffed toy and tip toed towards the kitchen door.
"Wuhooo...whuoo's theere?!?" NK wispered, too scared to attract any attention.
"HELP...SOMEONE!!!" Came some lady like voices from the other side of the door.
NK figured out that it was Khushi's voice. But what was she doing there? What was happening?
Not knowing anything else, NK pounced on the door, groaning as he failed to open it again and again. At last NK decided to call for help. "HELP!!!" NK screamed at the highest of his voice.

Arnav's hand was reaching out to grab Khushi's shoulder which was turned the other way when he heard a scream calling for help. Forgetting everything else Arnav got up from the bed, picked up his trousers from the floor and put them over his boxers while he walked over towards the door. Arnav opened the door and walked out towards the corridor, from there he could see NK was very unsuccessfully. Trying to open the kitchen door.
"Khushi, I'm coming" Arnav shouted from the corridor to his room and rushed down stairs.
"NK, what happened?" Arnav asked confused.
"Ummm, theere's ladiees inseed (inside), hailp mee" NK breathed out, stopping for a moment.
Arnav stood there, confused. What the hell is he on about?!? However, as he saw the door shaking, he decided to open it and question later.
Arnav kicked the door a few times before it crashed onto the floor lifeless. A figure red came crashing into Arnav, her arms wrapped around his back and her face hidden in the crook of his neck. At first Arnav was confused but then later when he heard the voice, his eyes widened and his mouth opened as the shock setteled in.
"Arnav" Khushi wispered in Arnsv's neck, still clutching onto him.
If Khushi was here then who...who was upstairs?!? Arnav's body stilled.
Khushi looked up at his frozen form.
"What happened Arnav?!?" Khushi asked with worried eyes as she stared at Arnsv's face.
By now, NK and Kate both were staring at Arnav.
"Khushi...Khushi, if you were here then, then who was upstairs?!?!?" Arnav spoke out his confusion.
"What?!? Who was upstairs?!?" Khushi was beyond shocked to hear this and so were the other two.
"There was a woman upstairs in our room as well, I thought it was you" Arnav answered, by now his brain had kinda made sense of the situation.
Khushi, NK and Kate gaped at Arnav with their eyes wide in horror.
"It...it mu..must be the same woman who had locked us in here" Khushi concluded with fear evident in her voice.
"There was a body inside the kitchen!" Khushi suddenly exclaimed remebering that horrific incident.
"What?!?" NK shouted, he was already tremebling.
"What do you mean?" Arnav asked Khushi, carefully listening to her.
"She's right, when we tried to escape a bo...bodyyy...fell o..on us" Stuttered a visibly shaken Kate.
Arnav carefully pulled back from the embrace and started taking slow, measured steps towards the kitchen when a hand stopped him.
"Arnav Don't! Please don't go in there!" Khushi pleaded Arnav and clutched his hand tightly, not wanting to let go of him for even a second. By now there were a few tears dropping down from Khushi's eyes and onto her cheeks.
"Ssshhh...its okay baby" Arnav pulled Khushi into another comforting hug and kissed her forehead.
After making sure that Khushi was fine, Arnav resumed his walk towards the kitchen, he walked past the broken door and into the kitchen area. On walking a little further Arnav noticed that there was no body there but there was blood puddled under the refrigerator. By now, everyone present there had followed Arnav in. Khushi had soon joined Arnav and was by his side in no time, clutching his arm, afraid to let anything happen to him.
Arnav had walked right in front of the refrigerator and his hand was half way to the handle of the door when he turned around and looked at a scared Khushi who was shaking her head, indiacating him to not open the door but Arnav, never the less, tightened his hold around the handle before pulling it open.
What Arnav and Khushi saw next made them jerk a few steps back. Khushi immediately hid her face in Arnav's chest and her arms had wounded themselves around his form, her breathing had quickened and her eyes were clutched tight with fear.
Arnav had one arm holding Khushi securely while the other was patting her head to calm her down. Even, he was shocked with what he saw.
NK and Kate rushed forward to see what had scared Arnav and Khushi so much, at witnessing that thing, NK let out a gasp while Kate collapsed on the floor with a loud thud. There was a head in the top compartment of the fridge, the eyes were bloodied and plain, as if the eye balls were taken out, the cheeks were scratched deeply, the nose was dangling off broken from one side, the tongue was pulled out long and the lips were torn. All in all, it was a hideous sight.
"Its Jake!!!" Cried Kate, still stupmed on the floor.
"That's the tattoo he had on his neck!" Kate sobbed more, digging her face into her palms.
Khushi hurriedly left Arnav before slapping the door shut and kneeling down to Kate. She knew that Kate needed to be calmed and consoled and realizing how bad she needed it, Khushi decided to help her not-long-ago-became-friend.
"Ssshh...Kate, its okay" Khushi hugged Kate who returned it back.
"WHY?!?!? Why did she do that?!?!"
"Ssshhh" Khushi didn't know what to do, she was worried and scared herself and plus saying anything normal would seem stupid right now because this was anything but a normal situation.
Arnav and NK still stood at their places, shocked. They were still recovering from the shock. When finally Arnav recovered from the shock, his mind went on work, deciding the best thing to do right now.
"NK, you go up and call the other couple down in the living room, we can't risk separating now. Me and Khushi will bring Kate out too." Arnav ordered NK, trying his best to control the situation but the fact was that he was never instructed on what to do and what to not when stuck in a haunted mansion with a ghost!
"And yeah, we need to find out who is doing this and why, we need to stop her at any cost and get out of here as soon as we can" Arnav kneeled down to support a sobbing Kate up with Khushi's help before he gave one last look to NK.
"Ummm, leesten (listen), I haave somee boooklet oon thees (this) maansion and eets (it's) paast. I'll get thoose after geeting thee laast couple" NK bolted out of the kitchen as soon as he finished. He ran as fast as he could so the ghost woulnt be able to catch him.
