Smita, getting an update a day early was quite a pleasant surprise!
The very beginning captures one's focus with its array of emotions: Khushi waking up all happy and rested only to receive the shock of her life on realising that Arnav was cuddled up to her… She never wanted to leave the bed… Arnav would have been in seventh heaven to hear that! She had to leave the bed before he woke up, slide out from under his body before he opened his sinful eyes and looked at her lips like she looked at jalebi… the words give rise to absolutely amazing images in my mind! Rightly said about his eyes, especially the way he makes love to her with them… can imagine the heat in his eyes as they leisurely peruse her body with the same orgasmic look she has when she sees a jalebi! He looked into Khushi's wrath-filled eyes with his dreamy ones… what a contrast! …he drawled, his husky voice touching every single nerve in her body… has a similar effect on me, too, causing tingles to run down my spine. Arnav cleverly reminding her of her words when they first shared a bed keeps his poor wife off balance, giving him the opportunity to get what he wants from her. She tried to wrestle with him, but his superior strength and training in wrestling made her efforts ineffectual… it's almost as if he trained in wrestling especially to keep Khushi trapped within his arms! He lowered his lips to sip at her tender, plump ones… reminds me of a humming bird hovering over a flower and sipping nectar or, better still, of a persistent bee that keeps flitting round one's head even as one tries to shoo it away [as in all those cartoons of Donald Duck pestered by a cute bee]! And the knock on their door interrupting their romantic interlude, followed by a 'Chotey' is a foregone conclusion… the surprise would have arisen if no one had interrupted them… for a moment there I expected it to be Anjali! Khushi taking advantage of Arnav's momentary loss of concentration to escape from his arms to the relative safety of the bathroom is a bittersweet moment. When Arnav, NK and Akash led Anjali down… like a prisoner under armed escort or like a bride being brought down by her family and friends to the mandap? It must have been like a stab in the heart for Arnav to realise that Khushi was staying true to her promise not to speak or show herself to Anjali… she whisks herself off to the temple before Anjali makes her grand entry, and no one, apart from Arnav, seems to care whether she has had her breakfast or not! Some of Nani's decisions are puzzling… even though Khushi is blameless, Nani wants her to keep away from Anjali, irrespective of the pain and humiliation Khushi might feel at this injunction! The very idea of her having to slink around her 'husband's' house doesn't sit well with me. Khushi's fears of what the future holds in store for her and her despair at the knowledge that she'll never get over Arnav brought a lump to my throat! She would be alone again… till the end of her life… with only her parents for company as they glimmered in the night sky… truly heartbreaking thoughts… it's almost as if Khushi is resigned to her fate… the destroyer of his Di's perfect marriage, the siren who had lured Sant Shyam into betraying his Rani sahiba, the 'other woman' in his precious Di's life… she being the star of Shyam-Anjali-Khushi farce… some really acerbic words but apt in these circumstances! Khushi is absolutely right about Arnav being always free to do whatever he wanted, leaving others to bear the consequences! Khushi's anger simmering, then slowly coming to a boil till she explodes is a sight to behold… kudos to her for finally giving voice to her pent-up pain and anger, rather than remaining everyone's favourite punching bag! "What else is left for you to do? You have done everything, destroyed everything I ever had. There is nothing more you can take away from me." Pleased to see a mute Arnav accepting the truth of Khushi's words. He set the thaali aside and prayed to Devi Maiyya to show them both the right path to happiness, to protect them from all evil... seems like a portent of things to come! Thank god Shyam didn't see Khushi on the terrace… I shudder to think what he would have done to her if he had noticed her standing there, turned to stone! Anjali's emotional manipulation is the pits! I lost all respect and sympathy for her when she endangered her unborn child, all to get her cheat of a husband back… one can understand her belief in her husband [in her eyes, he had never been unfaithful to her] given how well he drew he wool over everyone's eyes, but what does it say about her and her maternal instincts if she is willing to play with her child's [the symbol of their love, as the saying goes] health? She wanted that two-timing bigamous toad with a propensity for kidnapping his saala back in her life? In the midst of all that pain, this description of Shyam made me want to laugh! Love the double standards: Khushi has no business to be seen or heard by Anjali, but the latter has every right to barge into Khushi's and Arnav's room… seeing Khushi then won't hurt Anjali, will it?! It's right on Khushi's part to reveal to Arnav the truth of Shyam's visit to Shantivan… the dispassionate manner in which she states the facts must have added to his shock!
