Hi Di,
First of all thank you for taking the pain to explain your POV to my confusion or rather opinion.😊
I must say I agree with some points in your explanation.
1. I can understand the first 3 paragraphs of your explanation. And trust me, I have no opposing opinion to it, though I have not experienced any of it. Shashi promising Kushi's hand for marriage and his reasons for it, I didn't have a problem before too.
Yes one thing I did say, that is what if in your story the positions were reversed, that is, if Arnav was in NK's position, her true lover and NK in Arnav's position to whom Shashi has promised her hand. I mean, at times you will find yourself at such positions. For Kushi now NK is what Arnav is for Kushi for us! Hope I made sense.
But then I am not Angry on Shashi for that. Absolutely NO.
And on a side note, you have a wonderful hubby!😳
2. Your para 4, about the dosha thing. You shared your personal experience too. I can imagine what you and your family went through because my sister is going through the same thing now. We have gone through innumerable proposals for her, but because of horoscope nothing would work. So I know that situation. BUT, me and my father are staunchly against it. I mean if a guy comes saying he doesn't believe in horoscope, my father would go ahead with the proposal after checking other things. I mean only hindus have this mechanism. Aren't christians and muslims too marrying? Why won't people among them have chowa doshas etc? But are anybody bothering about it in their religion? Death or whatever is not something that can be avoided or prevented. Horoscope is a shastra, based on the positionings of the planets and stars. I respect that shasthra but I don't believe in astrologers of today's time and I believe horoscope, society everything is made for people to live more comfortably and cautiously. They are for us and we are not for them! But in today's society all such shastras are being misused.
I don't stand up for blind superstitions. So if Garima and Shashi suffered in their child's absense then I would say THEY DESERVED IT. Because it was their foolishness and blind belief that made them that loss. Whereas Kushi, as you explained is not superstitious and she doesn't count herself responsible for Arnav's misfortune. Good for her. I respct her for that. But even beyond having sense, she had to have that loss becuase of her STUPID PARENTS! Oh! I'm getting so angry on Shahsi and Garima for it, you know!😡
3. Yea I told you that. Kushi is an all forgiving angel in almost all stories. But you know what, I don't believe in such characters because normal human beings have all the positive and negative emotions in them. One can't be fully good nor fully bad. Nobody can be all forgiving like Kushi is portrayed in the serial and in most of the stories here. I don't believe such girls exist. If they do, then take it for granted that they will be doormats all their lives. Didn't Arnav himself say that to her, that she lost her 8 years of life for absolutely nothing!
'm a feminist, and that doesn't mean I am a man hater. But I hate such weak and Goddess like portrayed women in fiction and films and men who are orthodox!
So I actually didn't have any expectations from Kushi as such here. Because when I read the character sketch, I knew she will forgive everyone for everything. So as I said in my comment, I don't expect her to give them the pain they deserve by her ignorance, and that makes me even more angry and disgusted about Garima and Sashi!!!
If it was in my power I wouldn't have let them have even that 8 years with their kid. I would have made Kushi ignorant and aloof from her parents as they don't DESERVE her love.
A person, need not be a parent itself, but a person who has taken away all your dreams, the love and care you should get, does such a person deserve your love? Does orphaned kids always love their parents who threw them away like garbage? No. They fight with more vigor in this world, where their parents have abandoned them!
Will a girl ever be able to love a man who raped her? I am not saying Shashi and Garima did crimes equivalent to this, but ultimately it falls in the same category because the result of their actions leads Kushi to the same pain and isolation!
4 I understand they way you see things. I hope I have made clear my views too. It is just that we think a tad -bit differently. 😆
I'm sad to say this, but I don't think anything can change the hate and repulsive feeling I feel for Shashi and Garima for their heinous act to Kushi for SOME STUPID BELIEFS, and my gratitude to God for not making me born to such parents. In fact I did pray after reading those parts that NO GIRL should be born to such parents. Such superstitious parents better don't have children because as seen here, they are not going to be able to take care of their child! I had actually read an article somewhere, where it said that parents killed or raped their infant or kids just for some doshas in horoscope and such strange beliefs. Have you heard of girls being married to animlas or trees to overcome some doshas in their horoscope? What does that make you feel Di? Can you ever forgive such parents? Is horoscope really worth a kid's life? her childhood? Her dreams?
Kushi lost her childhood, her dream to study in the institution she dreamt of, her career. And no 1000s of Arnav can replace all that. That can happen only in stories, not in real life. So in my eyes, Kushi's parents are disgusting and Kushi's loss can never be requited.
Though I would like to add this, that I had thought if at least Arnav understood her loss and let her continue her studies in their college where she was cruelly brought back from, help her set up her career, give her the care of a father and mother, I know that is a bit overboard. Yet, I think these three things can somehow calm me if not for Kushi🤣
But really thank you so much for taking my comment so seriously and explaining your thoughts about it. It means a lot. I'm sorry that I couldn't get convinced😛. Trust me, I tried. I read your reply with open mind, keeping aside my thoughts for Sashi. I can understand why Sashi did it, his love and respect for Raizadas but I can't understand his reasons as in my eyes it is not worth it, it is not worth spoiling Kushi's 27 years of life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!🥺
