Hey! I started reading this SS when you started and then took a short break from IF, and am getting around to catching up on everything, and finally got a chance to finish this story.

I absolutely loved it😊 It was so well written, very funny, and witty. I love your sense of humor, and all the random tidbits you dropped in there throughout the way, but you made it all fit in so seamlessly!

I also loved your characterizations of Arnav and Khushi, and then writing their innermost thoughts was pretty unique!

I understand that you like open endings, but I would love to see them as an actual couple and how they interact ( I can totally imagine a lot of craziness!)...maybe a couple of one shots (I can keep dreaming, right??)

I'm so glad I came upon this story when I did; it's definitely a must read here on IF!

Drat you.
I had bookmarked this ages ago and only read all of it tonight.

And Poof! It ended before I was ready for it to end.

While writing a long-drawn out story can become a pain in the "hindquarters", I wish you could have been blackmailed into writing another ten or twenty diary entries.

That said, it was a delightful read. I loved it. I don't always like office romances because they're often written unconvincingly, are silly, or plain weird. But this one was hilarious, silly, weird, all shades of unbelievable and I couldn't love it more. I thought the FAQ was a fabulous addition to the story. 😆

I liked how you toned down ASR and made him a more approachable person.

I liked how you heightened Khushi's Awesome-Quotient.

I loved the diary format. I'm a sucker for those. And letters. And basically anything that involves writing.

I liked how the characters emerged bit by bit through not just their own diaries but also through the other's diary. And I loved the little jabs at IPK and Salman Khan and Sobti.

Their growing attraction-slash-affection was so natural and lots of fun to read. Khushi's ridiculously dramatic family was such a pleasant surprise. No threats of getting her married off to a Shyam-babua-clone, no histronics about 'izzat' and 'khoon' and 'maryada'. Man, I loved the Guptas. Bet they practice talking about 'khaandaan ka naam' and 'betiyon ki shaan' for cheap thrills.

I'm off to see what else I can scrounge from your posts.

Okay, okay - just managed to get through 3 chapters through my transit time since I'm not on the wheel today - and this is turning out to be such a riot 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

It's damn entertaining how you've picked up on the office equation, retained just a few deining traits, and then spun around a brand new spoof on IPK original 😆 With a brand new smartassy Khushi, and a brand new humility that has the audacity to show acquaint itself with THE ASR, only around Khushi, even if 😆 The movie date was adorable. I am without debate team Arnav on the whole Salman Khan movies matter - would not be talked into one if it cost me a couple limbs, and then some.
Finally, the very idea of Arnav keeping a journal is HILARIOUS. Really 😆 😆 That, as a stand alone, is evidence enough of how much Khushi has rubbed off on him. 😆 Think about it, can you picture this... Arnav writing a journal every other night or so? 🤣

Will be back as I catch up further - thanks for the link - needed some humour in this morning alright 🤗

Ok so I humbly apologize for bookmarking and pulling a Houdini!

But let's just say that real life sucks and there is literally very little humor to get through it when you most want it!

Coming to this story - I was about to say that it is hard to believe that the person who had me wrapped around her finger thanks to STS wrote this...piece of such beautiful urban humor - but no..it isn't hard to believe. In fact I think DFS shows exactly who you are. SO many instances, I found myself saying...wait...is this Khushi or is this Delilah talking and I almost always concluded you lent yourself rather generously to this story - thank you.

Awesome is your DNA, indeed. I don't think I had a single moment without a smile on my face as I read through except when it ended. HOW could you end so soon? I thought you said this couple had a lot of potential and after reading 8 odd chapters I agree with you. This really could have stretched to eternity and we would have been a happy, happy lot.

But sigh. Good things must end on time and prevent people from going W*F on it. I am learning that the hard way but sigh...

For me, D - humor written with heart has always been a genre so far out of reach that to see someone do it so flawlessly is such a pleasure. Thank you for the hour of fun I had while reading Dear Future Self.

Cheers and now more than ever, I am sure that you will not be able to stay away from writing. It is sort of who you are then. You write, therefore you are and all that - see I learn fast from Khushi (you!)

Meera

PS: People don't actually call their loved ones Honeykins do they?

Oh I forgot - I have a terrible time reading first person. It throws me off completely but I didn't matter a bit here. Strange!

Okay. Two more down.

I can promise you - as I can also believe many, many others must have - reading this FF is a ball. A riot. An ABSOLUTE must-do for everyone who suffers from, well, life. 😆 😆 😆

You get 11/10 for turning self-mockery into IPK fandom's most priceless, indigenous genre yet 😆 <-- With reference to Ch.4. 😆 Also, Molehill, meet Arnav Sir. He will turn you into Mountain-freaking-Everest is worthy of making a punchline for IPK, should 4Lions and Star plan to turn back time and air it all over again, as brand new 😆 Sooo much better than that wannabe-golfer promo they first aired to introduce The Raizada. Really, I mean it. Oh and lest I forget to mention, title of Ch.4 is the one eternal truth of life I abide by. Very, very seriously. 🤓 I'm sure you did not mean it in jest. Right? Right. 😆 😆

Ch.5 brought out a vibe entirely new to the story. You deserve a BIG pat on your back to adjust the mood of a story so singularly hilarious into something softer, subtle... so understated, without actually letting go of its defining element 👏 👏 👏 I have loved, loved, loved the witticisms of this story thus far D, but I think the reason this might end up being my favourite chapter will have everything to do with your knack of pulling off such a combination - and not because it was a 'changing hearts' ArHi centric chapter 😆 Sachi!!

I think I'll wrap it up by tomorrow. I'm almost holding out - could have managed another chapter today itself - but this FF has been the entertainment highlight of my lunch break two days straight, and even though I don't have the patience to drag it on and make it last through the week, at least, the Wed, it can still be my means. 🤗

Okay, this one might be rushed, because I am. But I don't want to walk away without leaving today's share of comment. Yes, good news is there are still 2 chapters left to go, so I guess I have one more day of fun. 😆

Ch.6 - A candid, convivial, confessing, confronting, conceding, and compassionate Arnav. Will miracles never cease to be? 😲 And yet again, you managed a streak of difference - the understated vulnerability in both. Khushi, wrt her standing in the chic place - awesomeness in the DNA not forsaken. And Arnav - the beauty of his vulnerability, for even that must bear some version of... anger - in realizing the implicit vulnerability Khushi, not intentionally, slips in making that remark. It was funny, everything in the element of their characters (here), and then just mildly, distantly, tugging. 👏 👏 Not everyday that you feel a subtle strain for predicaments and characters in an essential comedy. And them being 'Arnav' or 'Khushi' has nothing to do with it, as far as I go on fan bias.

Ch. 7 - Bring in the green monster, and of course Khushi will remember all the names on her list for Arnav, and add some yet. And this is not the first time in the story she says that right? ... because I wished against it so bad, of course it happened ... Where is the note in her diary that reads, don't self-jinx your chances, Khushi? Since she's such an obvious pro at it? 😛 😆 The whole dinner was a warm, silly-smile-inducing affair. With every intention on Arnav, and your part, of course, and much needed timely input from Shashi. Ever the reliable father 😆 😆

The FAQ is insane. Seriously, as short as that word falls, I have nothing better or more to cover it. Just sort of... I dunno, raise its stakes with a factor of 10... or 50. You get the drift.

- I better be off now. Work, work, work.
Until tomorrow...
