Chapter 3

For the sake of the family

Khushi opens her eyes to find herself sleeping on the bed…in the bedroom…while she was sure that she falls asleep in the living room, before the TV, yesterday…

She heard the sounds of the water on the bathroom…

It's her husband who is taking his morning shower…

She looks at her phone…it's already 7 of the morning…

She doesn't want to see him, when he will be out of the bathroom, so, she pretended to sleep…pulling the blanket on her…

It's only when he goes out of the room that she gets up…takes her shower and gets ready…wearing an elegant blue saree…

Getting out of the room…she runs to make a pooja…when suddenly she bumped on something hard, the moment she opened the room's door…her eyes opened widely feeling a warm breath on her hair…and the hard thing was no other than her husband chest…without looking, she can smell him…it was him…

-Excuse me!

-sorry!

Khushi…nervously and so fast…wanted to pull back but her earring stuck to his coat pull her violently closer to him…her ear is paining and she moaned with the sudden pain…she tried again to pull back, but finished closer, due to her earring…

-No! wait!

Arnav just tries with his fingers to take off khushi's earring to that he can free her…

When he succeeded, he wanted to give her earring back…but she walks away so fast…

She walks away…she doesn't want anything from him…nor his help neither his care!

She walked to find Anjeli before her in the living room and then she hugs her tight:

-Di!

-khushi? …what happened?...khushi?

Khushi breaks the hug:

-Nothing, Di!...I just…I just…I'm not feeling well…let's do the pooja…I will then feel better!

Khushi smiles a little while Anjeli looks at her confusedly and nodded positively…

-khushi?

After the pooja and the breakfast…khushi was trying to avoid meeting or looking at her husband…

She doesn't know what is happening to her that his ignorance hurts her and his proximity hurts her too…

She knew throw mami that he was the one carrying her to the bed yesterday…she's not happy with that too because she's angry!

She's angry and the reason is him…

-khushi? I was talking with you!

Anjeli pouted…

-I'm sorry di, I was just thinking

Anjeli smiles and was about to talk to khushi…

-Di?...where is my black shirt? I can't find it!

Arnav comes to interrupt them…

Anjeli gets confused at this question…her brother is married and he's supposed to ask this question to his wife for now…she felt bad at how could khushi accept the nature of her bro…he's stubborn and when he decided that he will not accept this arranged marriage…he was serious about that…

-khushi! go and help your husband find his shirts!

It was Dadi who is also there and heard it all…

Khushi walked silently to the room…not wanting to hear further from dadi…

-No there is no need!

Arnav said with so much anger but his anger was due to dadi who doesn't miss any chance to interrupt in his life!

There is so much tension and khushi was stopping her tears from falling with so much effort…she continued walking to the room…

When she's finally in…

She opened the closet…she has one idea: LEAVE…gets out a bag and puts all her clothes in…all her stuffs in...

She's not used to all that…

She's sorry but she can't anymore with this life…she would ask for the forgiveness of her family…of dada, of mami, of di…and will get…get divorced…get out of this room…this mansion…this city!

-what are you doing?

Arnav saw her ordering her sarees in the suitcase…and he doesn't know what he will do…

-Listen! I don't have anything against you!

He said to defend himself…

-I'm against this marriage only!

She heard this and turned to look at him:

-you know?…I don't care!

She said learning all her force to not to sob in between and then back to her suitcase…she puts only her own clothes and leaving all her in law sarees gifts in the closet…

-one question: do you even know what's my name?

She asked looking straight to his eyes and when he doesn't answer…she smiled mockingly:

-I knew it!

And she comes back packing her stuffs…

-you're against this marriage! Fine! You better talk with your family, I will talk with mine! I'm not against the divorce!

-Khushi…

He said with lot of attitude…

-your name is Khushi! I know your name!

-that's great…thank you for knowing my name...

-I don't mean to hurt you!

he whispered...not sure about what he said or why he said it...

-you don't mean it but it's done!

She said little bit out loud and nervously…she puts also her bangles, leaving the jewelry gifted in their place…

-you can't leave like this!

She looks at him like he said some horrific words…

-as easily as I come to your life…As easily as I'm going…I don't even mean to disturb you!

And then she starts crying hardly and desperately…

-I'm only scared…how my parents goanna react finding me before them after just one week of my marriage…scared for them only…but you! I don't care about you!

Arnav was about to answer when…

They heard a knocking and then it's Anjeli who gets in without even asking for an answer…

-khushi?

Her eyes get wide looking at khushi's tears and at the suitcase…

-no! khushi! no! you can't!

Anjeli walks towards her and takes her in her arms…crying along with her…

-please…don't cry…please…

She looks at Arnav and he just gets out of there…

-khushi…please…for me…stop crying…chote said or do something bad to you???...he's like that only…he's rude!...with everybody he's like that only…even with me!...please stop crying…I'm sure…sure, he doesn't mean to hurt you…he's only stupid…

Khushi smiles in between her tears…

-I just love you Di…

She said wiping her tears…

-please don't leave then!...please give chote a chance!...he's confused!

-I'm confused too…Di…I have a heart, a pride too…I can't! I just can't!

-please only for my sake! Not for him…not for anyone! At least for …ok…at least for me! I will be always by your side…

Khushi smiles:

-di…you know I can't refuse anything to you…but I will keep my suitcase like this only…I will be always ready to leave…I know that he doesn't want this marriage at all but for your sake and for the sake of all the family…I won't leave for now!

Anjeli nodded but she was sad about this situation…

Khushi putted the suitcase in the closet and then she lies down in the bed…she knew from the start that she can't leave the RM, at least not now…she made it clear for him…

deep inside she's happy that he finally talked...and that he said that he doesn't want to hurt her!

it's better than nothing!

right?

She spent all the day laying on the bed…not wanting to get up…

AR office:

-I don't want to hear anything, di!

-chote! You know she's only here for the family and not for you! Try to understand her too, she's been into this due to her family too!...you think she loves to live with a rude man like you?

-di!

Arnav looks at his sister angrily…she came here to his office only to do her job as a sister and that's why he's listening to her...

-she doesn't want you either!

Anjeli said out loud, very angry…she knew her brother and that he indirectly has hurt khushi, somehow…he has hurt her so much too!

-what is her sin? Tell me! the only fault she did is to obey to her parents who decided this marriage for her like you did, you, yourself!

-I did this only because of Dada's illness! He used me emotionally!

-and she did it because she love her parents so much, they used her emotionally too! same way!

-I don't love her di, neither have I believed or I will believe in marriages and stuffs like that!

-stuffs like that?! Do you even noticed how cute, smart, beautiful your wife is?

-my wife?

-God! Chote! You could once accept this idea that you're married now, that too with a precious girl who is actually your WIFE! Try to learn about her, won't you?…because beyond your work, those files, this phone, there is your life too!...and to be honest, you have no life!

With that Anjeli stands up:

-don't even answer! I'm a pregnant woman! and you're troubling me enough!

With that Anjeli left the office…

For the first time, she wanted to hurt her brother…because as a woman she felt that khushi was the only one getting hurt in this arranged marriage…

So…

According to his sister: he has NO LIFE!

Well, this may be true…

He looks at his files…at his laptop…he heard his phone and his mobile ringing, nonstop…

In his mind, there are only projects and deals…and business…

Nothing else…

His heart was closed to love years back due to a love story which ended so soon…leaving the great ASR with a broken heart!

After that disappointed experience…he's avoiding any deep serious relationship…

Till the day, his grandpa decided his marriage with an unknown girl!

He doesn't know her at all and then the marriage happened so fast and then now, his sister is blaming him?

Arshi Room:

Khushi pouted…

Well this life full of sadness isn't hers!

She wiped her tears…talked with Mera for like one hour and then she succeeded to smile then to laugh talking to her…and she felt better…

When he comes back home…Arnav was all angry and in a bad mood...

But in the RM, the atmosphere was way better than this morning…

Dada was talking with Khushi and Anjeli and they are all laughing but when they discover that he was there…they stop laughing instantly…
