CHAPTER 2

Khushi woke up and saw payal sitting next to her on the bed with serious expression. She sat up frowning in confusion."Jiji, what happened..?? Why are you looking so serious..??"

Payal narrowed her eyes at her."You don't remmember what happened yesterday..?? Do you remmember coming to home last night."

Khushi's eyes widened as she recollected last night's events. She stared at payal's face. "Jiji, who...who brought me home yesterday..??"

Khushi saw payal's face cover with fury for the first time ."Your boss, Arnav Singh Raizada." payal replied hatered towards arnav evident in her voice and eyes.

"Oh!" that's all khushi said. "jiji come, i'll make a masala tea for you. It's sunday and i don't have to go to work today." she said pulling payal but payal didn't bugde . She already knew that khushi will try to dodge her questions.

Pulling khushi back to the bed, payal questioned her."Khushi tell me what happened yesterday and i want the whole truth. Now spit it out fast."

Khushi sighed defeated. She know she cannot hide it from her jiji. So she told her the whole incident and payal felt murderous rage towards that monster.

Payal took a deep breath. "Resign from the job khushi."

"How can say that jiji. If i resign from the job then how we will live here..??" khushi panicked.

"Nothing is more important than you khushi. We will manage and it is not the only job that left in delhi. You can find another job or we can also return back to lucknow." payal said as calmly as she could when in reality she was burning inside.

Khushi averted her eyes from payal and payal narrowed her eyes at her in suspicion." What are you hiding from me khushi..??

"Jiji , i..i can't leave the job before the end of this month or i'll have to pay one lakh rupees to the company." Khushi replied in a small voice.

"What..??" Payal shocked but the next moment she understood."He had put this condition didn't he..??" payal asked gritting her teeth. Khushi nodded looking down at hands in her
lap.

Payal never wanted to do what she is about to but its the matter of her baby sister's life. Payal held khushi's hands and spoke softly."Khushi i am your jiji no..??" Khushi was confused but she nodded nevertheless. Payal smiled softly at her and continued. "You know that whatever i do or tell you to do will be for your good ,don't you." khushi nodded again. Payal took a deep breadth. This was the toughest part. She never thought that one day she will say this to her sister."Khushi you will resign today only. I know we don't have one lakh rupees but we can sell our jewelry . You have to sell .."payal gulped."you've to sell your amma's payal and kangan too."

Khushi gasped and snatched her hands back."Jiji , what are you saying. They are the last memmory i have of her." Her eyes filled with tears.

"Khushi..khushi listen to me. I know that they are of your mother's but you are a part your mother. You are her daughter. You have her inside you. These materialistic things are nothing. You have to take care of the thing your mother left of her---you. You mother would also want you to do this khushi. "payal explained her."Khushi please do this for your jiji" payal pleaded to her.

Khushi nodded reluctantly. Payal took out the jewellery and handed them to khushi."Sell them and give the money to the your boss and resign from the job."

Khushi looked up at payal. "But jiji today is sunday. The jewelers shop as well as AR will also be closed today."

"Then go to his house and give him the jewelry only. I will also come with you." payal said not wanting to delay this.

"No..no jiji . I'll go, you don't have to come." khushi said hurriedly.

Khushi stared at shantivan. She have no idea what will happen inside. She rang the bell and waited for the door to open.

"Hp!! "anjali called out." See who is at the door."

Hp opened the door."ji who do want to meet..??"

"Ji i am here to meet arnavji. I work at AR." Khushi said.

"Who is it Hp..??" anjali enquired from behind.
"Arrey khushiji !" she said as she saw khushi. "Please come inside" she ushered her inside. "So how come you are here." anjali asked smiling at her. "Nani , khushiji is here." anjali shouted.

Arnav heard khush's name and ran out of his room, but nobody noticed him.'What is she doing here?' he thought.

"Arre khushi bitiya how are you??." nani asked.

"I am fine, naniji" khushi bent down to take nani's blessings. Her bag dropped causing the jewellery to come out of it.

Anjali helped her in picking them up. She admired khushi's kangan and payal."khushiji these are so beautiful." she gave them back to khushi.

Khushi ran her fingers lovingly on them, her eyes got moist slightly. "These are my mother's. Her last memory." she whisper smiling sadly.

"It is very beautiful khushiji." anjali said putting a hand on her shoulder."Now , tell me. You came here to meet me..??" anjali said to lighten the atmosphere.

"I came here to meet arnavji, anjaliji . I work at AR." Or used to . Khushi
thought.

"You work at AR.?? That 's a surprise." Anjali said as she thought that she could could be the same khushi whose name chote shouted in morning.

None of them knew that arnav was listening everything.

"Khushi you wait. I'll just call chote." anjali said. As anjali turned around to call him out , Arnav returned back to his room.

"Chote!!" anjali called out.
"Yes di. " arnav replied as he came out of the room and acted as if he didn't notice khushi.

"Chote your employee khushi have come to meet you for some work." anjali said seeing his reaction carefully.

"Come to my room." he said to khushi returned to his room.

"Khushiji go upstairs . The first room in the corridor is chote's room." anjali told her.

Khushi nodded and started climbing up the stairs slowly. She stopped in front of his room and knocked softly. "Come in." came the reply.

Khushi entered slowly and saw him sitting on the recliner, furiously typing on the laptop. She kept fiddling with her dupatta nervously
. Arnav stopped typing when nothing came out of her mouth. He looked up at her, his face expressionless and saw her standing nervously. "Will you talk now..??" he said.

She looked up at him . Ji this is my resignation letter. She handed him the letter. Something broke inside arnav. He was shocked. 'She is leaving the job. How dare she.' but then he smirked. "You know that you have to give 1 lakh rupees to me in order to resign from the job or you forgot..??"

Khushi nodded." ji i know.." He was about to say something when she handed him the box full of jewery and took out her mother's payal and kangan and placed on the table.

"ji these worth 1 lakh or probably more." her voice trembling ,eyes moist and she was constantly staring at her amma's payal and kangan.

Arnav's anger flared. Not only she was resigning from the job but she is also giving her mother's last memory to me. He was not able to digest the fact the she was leaving AR and not able to see her everyday. Before he could
recover from the shock ,she left the room, not able to control her tears.

"Khushiji ,you are leaving. Please stay for sometime." anjali requested.

"Yes bitiya . Please stay." nani said.

"I have to go naniji . I am sorry. " khushi facked a smile.

"Then please visit us some other time bitiya. We enjoy your company very much." nani said.

"I am sorry nani but we might not able meet anymore. We are leaving to lucknow today." Khushi replied.

Arnav came out of the room just in time to hear this. He felt furious at the same time felt pain in his heart.'Like hell i will let her leave .' "Khushi !!" he shouted and came downstairs and stood in front of her.

"You cannot resign from the job . I am not jeweler that you are giving me this."He thrust the box in her hands." As per the contract you have to pay me in cash. So your resignation is not accepted. I want you in office tommorrow on time" saying this he climbed up the stairs and disappeared in his room.

Khushi immediately left from there. Nani was confused but anjali was understanding the situation.

Nice one. different n written very well specially payal who was feisty bt also knws its her responsiblity to look after family n rightly so which she never did on d show.

Also arnav knows khushi's parents are nt alive and khushi's been crying n arnav driving like crazy to reach khushi well tht showed how restless he was.

Khushi quietly gave her resignation and her mom's jewellery. payal tho was bein rational abt resignin bt tellin khushi to pawn off her mom's jewellery was nt ok, she shud have understood her emotions bt nver mind arnav knws everythng n he's nt lettin her go.

Only hope khushi doesn t sell of the jewellery n pay him in cash n resign.
