Love indeed drives people crazy….he had slowly begun to realize it now…..
He had taunted several times about people being crazily in love….he remembered his own statement once during a case
"premi aur paagal kabhi kabhi ek hi jagah dhoosra shabd isthemaal kiya jaatha hai…aur aise log apne dimaag se nahi dil se sochte hai!"…..
He chuckled at his own state now! It was no better in those moments because his heart longed to hear Aisha's yes….it longed to see her once again….it longed to hold her close to himself once!!
He kept smacking himself for the crazy thoughts "dammit Rathod!, pehle usske jawaab jaanlo….phir inn sab baatein sochna!"

Aisha's state was a bit different….she knew this was going to come up sometime and she would need to decide and reply to him but then when it finally came from him in the most sudden unexpected manner, she was really shocked and numbed for a while…..
She wasn't sure of what to do or how to react….and when she eventually came out of the shock, her logical side took over her heart and asked him for some time to think over……
She knew that he wasn't that very happy with her demand for time but at that moment, she couldn't think of anything else……She needed time though she wasn't going to think and decide if it was a Yes or No……She just had to think and decide when she would be ready to say Yes to him……because, whenever she replied to him, it would only be a Yes…..never a NO…..that much she had already decided….
Hadn't she heard him confess his love to her long time back?? Not once but many times….even before he finally abruptly voiced it out today!
She lay back on her bed and kept thinking about the evening……He had looked cute when he seemed to have regretted telling that to her in such a furious manner! His care, his protectiveness over her….his concern….everything reflected in his eyes and in those angry words…..She was indeed lucky to have got him….she smacked herself "got him? Get a grip girl….you haven't managed to get him yet…..tell yes to him first and then….." her words trailed off and she blushed
She smiled…..she took her phone from the side table…."he must have reached home by now.." she said to herself….."Call karke poochum??" she wondered!
Her conflicting thoughts took over her logical mind…..the debate started off on whether to call or not!
"No, itne raat mein call… kya sochenge?"
Kya sochenge?? Aur waise bhi, cant I call up and check if he reached home safely?
Zaroor kar sakthi ho….agar GF hoti toh…..par tumne abi tak haan nahi kaha Aisha….aur aise raat ko yeh baat keliye call karogi toh unne lagega ke tum bas nakhre kar rahi thi…..aur aisa bhi lagega ke kuch bhi bahaana dhoond rahi ho unnse baat karne keliye…..
Lagne dho…kya farq padtha hai…..anyways main Haan hi bolne waali hoom….
She blushed at her own thoughts…..For the first time, she had confessed to herself that she loved him too! So long, her logical mind never let her heart rule or take decisions…..but tonight, her heart ruled and spoke its honest feelings out, atleast to herself! And her mind didn't seem to create any hurdles in that!
She dialed his number without a second's delay….he spoke up in the first ring…."Hello"

He had just freshened up and was surfing the news channels….that was his daily routine before retiring to bed…..but today, his fingers pressed the remote button mindlessly, his eyes were seeing something else, his mind and heart were somewhere else….his thoughts were about someone special and we know who it was!….
So his regular sleep time seemed to have gone for a toss or rather he wasn't aware of the passing time…..neither was sleep conquering him……

His phone rang snapping him out of his thoughts…..Aisha's name flashed on the screen and obviously, he was happy seeing that name…..perhaps, this was the first ever unofficial or informal call from her side….usually she only called for giving him details for some case..
Though he wasn't sure why she was calling now, he was able to guess that it wasn't related to any case…..he picked it almost instantly….
Aisha: hello….its me Aisha….
Of course he knew that…he smiled to himself hearing her voice so soft from the other side!
Sameer: [the boss in him never leaves him….so in the same formal tone, he replies] haan Aisha bolo….kuch kaam tha?? I mean itne raat ko…
Aisha: [wondered what to tell him now] nahi…koyi kaam nahi…..bas aise hi…..I mean aap ghar paunch gaye kya?
Sameer grinned silently seeing her searching for words or rather reasons for having called him so late…..and also looked at the clock to check the time….it was almost one and half hour before that he had dropped her off and it was hardly 20 minutes drive to his place from hers owing to the low traffic during the late hours…so there was no chance of him not having reached home by this time….And he was sure that she knew it as well…..So her question or rather the reason was just a pretence to call!
He chose to ignore all that and just asked back "soyi nahi ab tak?? Its quite late!"
Aisha didn't have an answer for that as well….but she couldn't give up, "aap bhi nahi soye…..i mean pehle ring mein phone utaa liya?"
Sameer chuckled at her tit for tat reply….he replied "well I have my reasons par tum?? Tumaare jaagne ka koyi special wajah?
She felt as if caught off guard…..the presence of mind in her seemed to have vanished all of a sudden…..she could have told numerous reasons for her being awake but nothing came out of her mouth at that moment……Words seemed to betray her suddenly! Many things were betraying her logical self off late!
There was a silence at both ends….
He spoke up sensing silence from her end "Aisha…tum aur kuch kehna chahthi ho??"
Aisha spoke up after a second's thought "nahi…kuch khaas nahi!"
Sameer's heart voice, "tumaari harr baat mere liye ab khaas hi hogi…..so speak up something Aisha!"
Aisha's mind voice, "OMG, innke romantic baatein bhi case briefing jaisa hi hai….Why cant he speak something nice and sweet to me? Aisa lagtha hai ke agar maine kuch nahi bola toh yeh call cut kardenge…."
As she predicted, Sameer waited for a long moment for her to speak something and then replied "ok….phir kal office mein milthe hai…."
She had no choice but nod and cut the call…but he said something very cute and romantic which touched her yet again…"Aisha….main tumaare haan ka intezaar mein hoom….dont keep me waiting for too long! [pauses for a second] Bye….gud night"
She nodded "Gud night!"

Days move on……Aisha wasn't able to get the right moment yet to tell him what her heart felt for him….though their eyes and heart did talk with each other, words always fell short between them…..
He didn't want to press her for a reply….he didn't want to influence her decision in any way……so he gave her the time and space she required……
Even in their casual friendly encounters, case details never stopped peeping in….So it were always cases and only cases!

Once again, Aisha was made a target in the ETF team's fun time…..
Shree started off "So Aisha, kya chal raha hai?"
Aisha looked up and guessed what his intentions were…so she mocked him "kya chal raha hai matlab….[looking at the ceiling] fan chal raha hai…lights bhi chal rahi hai…..aur tumaara woh toota phoota laptop bhi chal raha hoga…..
Shree sported a funny face, "very funny…aaj kal Aisha madam bhi bohat mazaag karne lagi hai…."
Chotu spoke up supporting him "Aisha madam bhi ka kya matlab Shree?? Aur kaun mazaag karne lage hai???"
Shree replied mockingly while Aisha lend her ears for that curiously "aur kaun humaare Rathod sir ki baat kar raha hoom…..[grinning and looking at Aisha's reactions] shaayad propose karne ke baadh kisi ko impress karne ke khoshish mein hai!"
Aisha responded almost immediately "Shree, tumhe kaise patha???? Sacch bolo…..Kahi tum humaare phone tap toh nahi kar rahe ho na??"
Shree hi 5's Chotu and then mindlessly also Liza, then instantly rubs his hand realizing his mistake but then ignores her and gets back to the topic…."teer nishaane pe laga…dekha maine kaise sacch ko baahar nikhaala….maano ya na maano, main ek genius hoom!" [Collars up his shirt]
Liza mocks "haan haan….inn sab baaton mein toh tum genius hi ho…"
Shree stares at her…….while Aisha realizes her mistake and that she is caught in their plan and tries to slip from there when Shree stops her "aise nahi bacch sakthi Aisha…ab toh tumhe poori baat kehni hogi…ek ek detail mein…..bolo bolo!"
Though Aisha tried her best to escape, she had to give up and tell them what happened….
Shree: so madam ne waqt maanga sir se, huh??
Aisha nods……"haan…I told him that I will think it over!"
Shree taunted her "yeh sab soch ke decision lene keliye waqt hai tumaare paas, huh??
Aisha enquires "kya matlab?"
Liza took over, "ETF mein kisi ko bhi waqt nahi hai apne personal baaton keliye….so chup chaap haan bolo aur jo bhi waqt miltha hai unn ke saath romance karo…..[Winks at Shree and adds] agar BF bhi ETF se ho toh aur kya chahiye Aisha??
Aisha stares at her logic and then couldn't control her laugh…..a light blush also creeps into her cheeks…..
"Well Liza and Shree did have a point…." She thought to herself and the rest of the conversation between the other three, and the constant bickering between Shree and Liza fell into her deaf ears……

Later that evening……….
Aisha walked into Arjun's cabin with a file "sir yeh rahi uss case file…..[he looked up at her and then at the file she held out…she guessed that he was a bit annoyed due to the delay] sorry sir, thodi dher hogayi details collect karne mein!"
Arjun took the file from her hands and as she turned to leave, he called her "Aisha…."
She turned to him and voiced out, "yes sir.."
Arjun: waqt aur haalaat kisi keliye nahi rukhtha…..
Aisha looked at him trying to understand what he meant by that….was he taunting her for the delay of the case file or was he indirectly trying to say something else…
Sensing her confusions, he got up from his chair and walked up to her and added
"Zindagi mein sahi decisions lena zaroori hai…..par usse bhi zyaadha zaroori hota hai sahi waqt pe sahi decisions lena…….aisa na ho ke sahi aur galat ki soch mein hi waqt aur zindagi nikhal jaaye….[stops and looks at her and adds in his trademark style] samjhi ya samjhaavum?"
Aisha understood what he was pointing to….well he was indeed a friend in need…..even if it was a lost friendship!
She smiled and replied back "samajh gayi Sir…"
Saying that she walked to the door….he went back to his chair……she looked to his direction once and spoke up
"yahi baat main aap se aur Sameer sir se kehna chaahthi hoom…..sahi kaun aur galat kaun sochthe sochthe waqt aur ek accha friendship kho na jaaye Sir!"
He didn't reply…neither did she want a reply from him….she went away closing the door behind her….
But she had left him in a deep thought…..perhaps she was right but there was nothing much he could do, or could he???
On the other side, she had made her decision…..yes the team and especially Arjun's words did have its impact on her……She was all set to talk to Sameer….
