Chapter 17
"She wants to work for me. I dunno why", he texted her.
"That;s even better. When you wanted her to work for you, you fell in love with her. Now, she wants to work for you, so may be its her turn now!"
"What non-sense Kiara", texted Maan, "DO you believe in all such things?"
"Well, I don't. But some time back some one had told that Love finds it's way- I realized its true. No matter what Love will always find its way! So, may be this is the way for Geet. Good night Bro. Love you tons and tons!"
Maan hung up and turned the other side. He looked at Geet sleeping peacefully. He moved a little forward and kissed her on her forehead. He then switched off the lights and went to sleep. What he did not know was Geet was still awake. She smiled and opened her eyes to stare at her husband who was faced the other side.
The breakfast the next day was a routine affair. Kiara came in late that day for breakfast and sat beside Geet.
"Bhabhi, kuch Indian breakfast paas karo yaar", she said, yawning.
"Why are you still sleepy?", asked Dev, who was in a similar state but refused to accept it or declare it.
"Oh bro, c'mon! Such early mornings I cant wake up", she said, lazily pulling the plate towards her.
"Early morning?", said Daadiji surprised, looking at her watch. Geet smirked and Maan continued to read his newspaper.
"Bro, please appke us sundar sa chehra dikhayenge hume. Newspaper is blocking it", said Kiara, sarcastically, indicating Maan should stop reading the newspaper and talk to them.
"Bolo", he said, immediately folding the paper and putting it aside.
"Kuch nahin", she said, taking a bite of the paratha.
"Tum subeh nau baje utoge tuo office kab aaoge?", asked Maan, as he sipped his coffee.
"Arey mere boss ko koi problem nahin hain. He's flexible with my office timings", she said, winking at Dev, who was to be her boss when Kiara would start working.
"Lekin boss ke boss ko zaroor problem hogi", said Geet, suppressing her smile. Maan raised her eyebrow and looked at her.
"Arey koi nahin. Boss ke boss apne biwi pe fidaa hain. Jaise biwi bolegi waise hi karenge", said Kiara.
"Tho?", asked Dev.
"Simple hain bro, boss ke boss ko control mein rakhni ho, to biwi ko impress karo, patio", she said and both Dev and her hi-fived.
"Oh enough the both of you!", said Maan.
"Bro, sachhayi hain" and Maan roared, "Cut it out Kiara".
The entire family fell silent.
"Listen to me very carefully", he said, tunring to her, "I've always expect my people to come to office on time- be it you or Dev or Sasha or even Geet for that matter- if she were to work for me!"
Geet looked at him smiling. "If your boss is flexible with your timings- then I'm sorry but I will have to show both your boss and you- the way out!", he said.
Daadiji and Naintara smiled. "Sahi hain", said Naintara, who was getting impatient with Dev's random timings and unnecessary hurry to the office in the morning.
"Kiara, meri maa- please! Mera kuch standing hain uss company mein- zara khayal rakhna iss baat ki", said Dev.
"Hmmm! Whatever. Tum log itna kaam kyun karte ho?", she said.
"Taaki tum apne saare comforts/luxuries afford kar saku", said Daadima.
"Now, enough of this. Let's have breakfast", she said and cut short the argument that could have gone further and grown into a heated one.
While Maan was about to walk out of the mansion towards his car- he heard Geet's phone ring and exactly knew who it was. He looked at his watch and smiled. "Perfect timing! Never wrong!", he thought and drove away to office along Dev.
"Mrs. Geet Khurana", came a voice from the other side.
"Yes", said Geet.
"I am Shreyasi- secretary of Mr. Maan Singh Khurana- CEO and MD of Khurana Constructions", she very formally introduced herself.
"Yes Ms. Shreyasi", said Geet, understanding that this must be related to the discussion Maan and her had the previous night.
"Ma'am, Would you be able to make it to office to meet Mr. Khurana at 11am today? IF yes, I will go ahead and schedule an appointment with him".
"It's a pleasure indeed to meet him- but could I please know the reason for the meet", she enquired.
"Its regarding a project", clarified Shreyasi.
"Okay, I surely will make it at 11am, today!", said Geet, smiling.
"Alright Ma'am, thank you very much and see you in office! Have a wonderful day ahead", she said and hung up. She immediately texted Maan- "Done, appointment scheduled at 11am".
"Okay", came Maan's reply to Shreyasi, prompt and short as always.
"Which sari to wear? Should I leave my hair or put it in a bun? Hey babaji, mujhe tension kyun ho raha hain? I'm not going to meet Maan for the first time in office. I've gone to that office several times before and I have also worked there. Why do I feel so different now?", thought Geet, staring at the open wardrobe unable to decide what she should wear.
She brushed her hand against different colors and types of saris but couldn't narrow down on one. "Gosh!", she said, impatiently, shutting the ward robe doors and looking at herself in the mirror for sometime.
"Okay Geet- enough! No need to worry. It's simple. Close your eyes and the first color that comes to your mind- that's the color sari you will wear", she spoke to herself.
"Okay now ! Close your eyes", she told herself and closed her eyes.
"Blue", she said and smiled. "Good job Geet", she patted herself and quickly opened the wardrobe and pulled out a blue colored sari. She wore it- then arranged her folder with a few important papers and her CV. She pulled her hair into a braid and wore her mangalsutra. She put a simple blue bindi and sindoor.
"Nice", she told herself. It was ten already. She rushed downstairs and grabbed the keys that just came to her hand.
She got into the car and drove towards Maan's office- with the heart beating as fast as it could.
"Sasha, like I said, you already have lots to handle. Just let this be. I think I know someone who can handle this project", said Maan.
"But MK, this is your dream project and I don't want any mistakes. I can delegate the other projects to others and work on this. I'm actually thinking of travelling to Hyderabad tomorrow and taking a look at how we should kick-start. Afterall, it is a 200 crore project and it cant be messed up", lectured Sasha.
Maan listened carefully but nothing that Sasha said made him think twice about his decision. Well, for him, once a decision is made- it is made- there is no turning back and no stepping back.
"Sasha, I've decided already. It's nice of you to take up this responsibility as well- but not this time", he said.
"But MK how will any new person be able to this project?", she questioned, angrily.
"Sasha, experience will teach a lot of things. No more arguments and discussions on this. I have a meeting at 11. So, let's finish working on this first", he said, pointing out to the blue prints that lay on his table, in front of the both of them.
"Okay!", she said, not in a mood to argue with Maan.
"Sir, can I ask her to come in to meet you?", came Shreyasi's voice over the intercom.
"Yes please", said Maan, looking at the time. It was 11:03am.
Maan looked in the direction of the door only to find a beautiful lady dressed neatly in a sari walk in. His heart skipped a beat, after seeing Geet wearing mangalsutr and sindhoor. She usually never did it.
"Please sit down", he said, piinting to he char opposite to him.
"Thank you!", she said, nervously. She knew Maan wouldn't eat her up- but now he was not her husband- he was a man who would interview her for a project.
