ArShi FF: Enlivening and Abolishing

Chapter 1-The girl's edifice

The cold breeze was brushing against my cheek. I pulled the hood over my head, which was attached to the blue sweatshirt I wore. I was walking in the corridor at this time, it was past curfew. I would be severely punished if I was seen by anyone. But this did not matter now. I had to see her.

My hands made its way to the sweatshirt pocket, which resisted the coldness to linger over my skin. I walked slowly towards her room. As I came closer, I knocked at the door. After a few seconds, the door opened tardily only to reveal her eyes. Those red orbs were enough to know what she had been doing before I came. She had to see who her guest was at this hour. As soon as she knew the person, the door opened widely welcoming me.

I went inside slowly and bolted the latch of the door from inside. She had already sat in her bed to continue her sniffling. I went to sit beside her. Without even waiting for a second, her face buried into my neck. Her hands encircled my waist and my hands went around her shoulder making sure that I comforted her.

"Shh'I'm here now, please don't cry", I soothed her and I could feel her sobs were diminishing slowly.

"Khushi", she sniffled loudly, "Do you..you think I cannot become what I wanted to? Hmph..hmph!"She said my real name only when she was in a very bad temper or a very depressed feeling.

My hand now rested on her hair slightly consoling her, "Nah..you have more potential than anyone here Ishu! I'm sure that your name will be suggested by all our preceptors tomorrow. Now go to sleep. You don't want to go to the enlivening with puffy cheeks and dark circles, do you?"

She chuckled lightly , "But, what about the incident that happened today at the cafeteria?"

"You did the right thing Ishu. The preceptors will understand. Don't you think about this while sleeping.", I ordered. "Now off to bed, you", she hugged me tightly for the last time this night and lied down on her pillow. I stood up and pulled the duvet up to her neck and began to move towards the door.

The moment I turned, her hand pulled me gently and I went down in my knees beside her bed. Her face inched closer to mine and she gave a small peck on my cheek, "Thank you. I don't know what I would do without you!"

"Does anyone say thank you to their best friends?", I flinched and pouted. "So I am not your best friend,right?"

"I didn't mean that", she said her lips curving downwards. "OK..OK...whatever you think, I am your best friend. You can't change that.", I replied putting my arms around her neck.

She smiled thinking of how mad I was. I pulled myself from her and kissed her hairline, "And who told you that I will be without you."

She grinned now and I came out of the room. I pulled my hood again beyond my face so that nobody could see me. I was walking half the distance when something very hard pulled me and in return my head went straight into a hard wall draped with soft cloth. My hand went straight to my right temple in order to rub it. This was a reflex action though.

Simultaneously my eyes found that this piece of hardness wasn't a wall, it was a BOY!

My eyes shifted up towards that boy's face and OH MY GOD! Was that really him? His coffee coloured eyes were staring at my eye. I don't like coffee but his eyes made me think whether coffee had such power to drown someone.

"What do you think you are doing at this time? Don't you know you shouldn't be outside your room at this time?", he gnarled at me and I realized that his hands were still twisting my wrist.

I went a little back , "I could ask you the same. What are you doing here in the girl's edifice? I thought people like you don't break rules Arnav". I smirked at backfiring him. People here called him ASR, but I did not like that. He had a beautiful name which meant ocean. I preferred to call him Arnav.

"I can do anything Khushi, I am one of the school vice-prefects. You can't punish me, can you?", he said while it was his turn to smirk.

"I'm sorry,I had some incomplete work. I will leave immediately.", I replied with my head down. I didn't want to stand here anymore. I felt some tingling sensations.So, I thought it was better not to argue.

He nodded, "And don't make me see you at this time outside again." He left my hand as I nodded. "And maybe I have come to the girl's edifice to spy on you." He smiled seeing me as I lowered my chin to my chest to hide the red lava appearing on my cheek. I left to my room without replying anything.
