This FF is plagiarized... and its a completed ff on IF for so long
broken wings by Lethal me URL Not Available
copied from

So what is the penalty for coping the entire ff?
If the writer has written another ff, whats the guarantee that she hasnt copied that from elsewhere?
Is there any action going to be taken against this particular ff or will it remain as a competition for new writers who atrugle for readers while some happily plagiarise their way out?

How sure are you that the IF writer plagiarized? Are you absolutely certain that the IF writer copied the FF from the blog or is it the other way round? The IF writer, Lhethal.Me posted her story on IF back in 12 August 2011 & the story on the blog that you provided was posted on 9 September 2012. (I double checked both) If the story on the blog was indeed plagiarized from Lhethal.Me, than she should be made aware about it immediately.

I get that I've been away from the Forum awhile - but since when did absolute nonsense become so common-place?

"This story is a plagiarized piece of Natasha Anders book "The Unwanted Wife." But like the author has said that you are working on the storyline and adapting from it. The DT would encourage you to do like you mentioned. But please leave a note on the first page of this thread that this is an adaptation of the actual novel."

Okay so first of all - Gargee's Note goes :

Oh, P.S- I want to thank Natasha for the wonderful inspiration. Seriously people, read the book. It's great. And then tell me, if it didn't make you think of our beloved Arnav Khushi 😉😆

Love you all!

Oh wise Vewbie - do 'read' before you make a statement. Gargee cite's the book as INSPIRATION. She DOES NOT say that she is ADAPTING from it.

Now, I know you probably already know this as a Viewbie or at least should, but I'll tell you anyway - You cannot ADAPT a FF from a book. You can Adapt it into a MOVIE not into another written format genius - unless it's a play which is a whole different concept.

Inspiration and Adaption are very different and if I were forced to use a term here Adaption is more apt given that inspiration cannot be said to be as line-to-line as the excerpt I just read. In other words - Gargee has blatantly plagiarized. Which I find very hard to say - because I was a HUGE fan of Shades. So disappointed here.

She needs to amend her note to clearly put it as an adaptation which by FF rules shouldn't be allowed, since it lacks all creative content or needs to take the whole thing down. And the Vewbie with the note needs to think before she simply types up a reply.

Sincerely,

The note in an FF was from me. So, if someone has issues with me please direct them towards me.

With that out of the way, let me clarify. I have spoken to the Author of the FF. And he/she had said that they have "adapted" from that story and is going to develop the story. The line between adaptation and plagiarism is very thin. Just like a sig maker can be over-inspired so can a FF writer. So, when someone here wants to accuse another member, get the facts right at least.

Please let the DT decide what they want to do with such stuff, because this is confidential between the Author and the DT. No one here has the right to either accuse me or the author.

Thankyou,
Saraa.

Who is Gargee again? I am sorry, I might have missed out on that.

And since you're being catty enough with me. All I have to say is; thankyou for the suggestion and I'll deal with it the way I see fit.

Thankyou and regards,
Saraa.

Errr...Gargee is the author on whose story you wrote the viewbie note under contention and who has been the author under discussion for quite a few pages now...a discussion which maybe the administration staff of IF should carefully read.

Hi Saraa, an adaptation without the legal consent of the author is a punishable offence in most countries. So this isn't anymore about IF COC; but it is against the law. So although the DT might deem this to be okay, the law of the land prohibits it. In such cases the law of the land should prevail over the IF COC or the jurisdiction of the moderator. I urge you to reconsider this issue and rightfully trash the thread and warn the author.
