24th January 2013
It was the day of My Birthday party and I had invited all my Family and Friends for a little celebration.
My Best Friend, Arnav Singh Raizada, was the only boy who had been invited for two reasons:
1]My Parents were family friends with Arnav's Parents
2]My Parents did not approve of any of my other Guy Friends .
I was very excited for this party because Arnav had revealed that He had a surprise for Me.
My Deep Red dress and sparkly earrings complemented the joyous mood of celebration and upcoming surprises.
I went to the main hall where everything was set perfectly for my Birthday party.
The guests had started streaming in and I was in my perfect host avatar with all the smiles and 'Thank You for coming' talks.
The party was in full swing and all my Friends had arrived.
"Oooh...Someone looks like a doll..." Lavanya cooed while hugging Me tightly.
"Khushi...You look stunning..absolutely Beautiful.!!" Payal squealed excitedly.
"Thank You !! I Love You both too much !!" I squealed while hugging them together.
We went to the refreshments table to enjoy the variety of food arranged and the conversation turned towards Arnav.
"Arnav said He will be here in like an hour ...He had something important to attend to." Payal informed.
What is more important to Him than His Best Friend's Birthday?
"Oh that's okay...He surely must be busy in his important work." I responded calmly trying to hide the sadness from my voice.
"I thought You would be waiting for your Best Friend to show up more than anyone." Lavanya teased.
"Nah...I love You Guys too, equally." I rolled my
eyes while gobbling up a piece of Jalebi.
"I hope You remember our equality rights after a few seconds because there comes Your Best Friend." Payal giggled while looking at the door.
I turned around and saw Him enter- Arnav.
Looking fresh in perfectly formal clothes with hair well-gelled, smirk and attitude in place.
"Hey Khushi!!! Happy Birthday!!!" Arnav squealed while enveloping Me in an enormous hug.
"Aww..Thank You Arnav... Thank God! You could make it!" I squealed excitedly.
"Awww...I am Your Best friend... I would not miss Your Birthday for the world." Arnav laughed.
"Ok...Stop spreading the cheese...Where is my gift ..My Surprise?" I demanded.
"Patience...That will be revealed later. Why don't We go somewhere a bit quieter and a bit airy...This atmosphere is suffocating Me." Arnav said tugging at his tie and pointing towards the open door which led out to the open garden.
We walked out towards the garden and breathed deeply in the cool winter air.
"Are You feeling better now?" I asked in concern.
"Yeah...You know something Khushi...There is a tradition that If You wish for something when a there is a shooting star in the sky then Your wish does come true..." Arnav explained softly.
"Aww...But there are no shooting stars today." I said glancing at the clear sky.
"Nah...Someone told Me exactly 11 minutes later from now...there will be a shooting star in the sky." Arnav said glancing at his watch.
"Wow...Shooting star ? 11 minutes later...? Now its 11 which means at 11:11 ?!?!" I said in amazement.
"Yes...Proper Wishing time.!! And for You a Birthday Wish." Arnav said observing the sky for the shooting stars.
For the next 10 minutes, We stood gazing at the sky for any trace of a shooting star.
"Khushi ...Quick! Close Your eyes...There is the shooting star." Arnav whispered while a shooting star whipped across the sky.
I quickly closed my eyes and mumbled a wish.
When I opened my eyes, I could see that Arnav was looking at My face intently.
"Why are You staring at Me?" I said smacking his arm, "Dont You know wishing time is personal time?"
"Yeah...Well what was so 'personal' about your wish?" Arnav questioned softly.
"I am not telling You my wish...it won't come true!" I squealed.
"Ok...Lets do that thing which We used to do when We were in 7th Grade.", Arnav said holding out his pinky finger, "I will tell You my wish if and only if You tell Me, Yours."
"Okay... Fine.", I said hooking my pinky finger in His, "Tell Me Yours first?"
"I wished that the Girl I Love falls in Love with Me." Arnav said shrugging his shoulders.
"Awww...Thats very sweet... Don't worry any girl will fall in Love with You!" I squealed even though I somewhat wanted to know that lucky girls' name who had managed to steal My Best Friend's heart.
"I hope what You say is true.." Arnav mumbled softy before saying aloud, "Now tell Me Your wish.?"
"I wished for...YOU.." I said softly looking into his eyes waiting for Him to react.
His reaction surprised Me. His eyes widened like a saucer and his mouth broke out in to the most beautiful smile..
"Your wish is granted! Woooww...I did not know My wish would come true instantly." Arnav said while sweeping a stray lock of hair behind my ear.

The Girl in Arnav's wish was...ME?
"Arnav...I am the girl in your wish???" I said scanning his face for any emotion.
"Yes!! And You just fulfilled My wish." Arnav said excitedly.
"Aww...This was my Birthday surprise?" I said smiling widely.
"Yes...This was Your Birthday surprise...But here is Your gift..." Saying so, He removed a thin chain with a star pendant and placed it around My neck.
I was speechlessly staring at the necklace,"Thank You..Arnav. You could not bring a more apt gift...And My wish could not be better than You."
"I Love You ...Khushi." Arnav said while enveloping Me in a hug.
"I Love You More..Arnav." I said making myself comfortable in his arms.
It was the Best Birthday with the best gift of having wished for Arnav as My Birthday wish.
"Maybe those wishes do come true after all.." Arnav whispered softly.
