Chapter 2

~The First Contact~

"Come baby, come to me," I giggled looking at her. She was back not angry. And she was smiling at me.

I gleamed looking at her. She was wearing my favourite dress. The red one. I touched the silk with my hands and smiled remembering how I used to force her to wear this one every day. And seeing her wearing the same dress brought back the old memories.

"You look pretty today," I teased as I said those words. And she laughed. Her infectious laugh that used to brighten my day was back and I felt a sense of achievement for being the reason behind it.

"My baby," She kissed my cheeks and held me in her arms.

Her embrace always brought the peace and calm I missed. She had that quality. The only other person to have it was my life. Her one hug and I used to forget everything. Why I was sad, my reason of crying and why I was the way I was. I missed it now because she wasn't the constant factor in my life anymore. She came and goes as per her wish or sometimes mine. I wanted to see her today and there she was sitting in front of me. But two days back when I wanted to see her she didn't came. That's why whenever she came I always prayed for her to stay. But those evil people, my tormentors never let her. Last time they had pushed her out of the room when I had tried so hard for her to stay. They hated to see me smiling and it was the reason why I never did anything in front of them. I wanted them to leave me alone but they didn't. They even had put up a camera in the room for surveillance.

When I had ask them the first time why they are putting it up in the room. They had told me it was for security purpose. But what I fool I was. I actually believed them. I should have known the real reason. It wasn't for security purpose. Because no other room had camera installed except mine. It was to keep an eye on me just so that they won't miss a single chance of tormenting me. There wasn't a single day when they hadn't come and hit or beaten me for no fault of mine. They needed excuses and the camera was a proof of that. One time I even tried breaking it but it only resulted in more punishment for me. I was thrown into the 'PUNISHMENT ROOM'.

I was locked inside that room for two whole days. It was the same room I was thrown into after...after I killed Adam. And they knew how much I hated it. After that I never tried breaking it down. I was ready to get more punishment but not ready to get locked up in that room. I was scared of that room. And not just me, even she was scared of that room because she never came to see me when I was there. So I stopped doing things that would give them a chance of throwing me back there. I stopped doing things that would anger them. Still, they somehow used to pick on things that would give them a chance to get back at me.

There were times they tried pushing me to the limits. But I never allowed them the satisfaction on my expense. I wasn't that weak they believed I was.

"I missed you. Don't leave me again." I murmured holding her tightly. I was afraid she'd leave me if I lose my grip on her.

"I don't want to but I have to," She said moving her hand on my back.

"Why?" I whined because I wanted her with me all the time. I hated being alone. And she was the only one left who never judged or misunderstood me.

"You know why?"She replied removing the hair away from my face and looking down at me.

I knew why. Because if she stayed then they would have locked her up in a different room just like they had locked me in the room. And whatever little time we used to spend together would have been OVER by now. Our secret meetings were the only way for us to meet. And in no way I was ready to sacrifice that for few selfish moments. I never wanted her to be in the same place I was. She deserved better, much better.

"A new doctor came," I told her turning us to a different topic. There was no use wasting time on a topic which wasn't of any use. We only had few moments and I still had to tell her about my day.

"And," She waited for my answer which she already knew.

I hated doctors. Doctors are supposed to cure people, to make them feel better. But it wasn't the case with me. They should be like your friends. Friends, you can share your problems easily, freely without feeling awkward. But they weren't at least not for me. They didn't even treat me like a patient. They never made me feel better. And like the rest of them I hated these doctors. They never thought twice before giving me horrible medicines and injections. Not caring whether I wanted it or not. And the new one was no different. I just knew it.

"Dr. Malik, his name." I told her. The next instant her hands around me loosened. She moved away leaving me alone.

Someone was in the room.

I entered the room and looked at her. She was sitting on the bed in the same position like last time. She wasn't stiff when I was at the door but as soon as I reached the bed her posture changed. She was on alert and she knew she wasn't alone.

"Hello Ms. Gupta," I said and again I saw her tightening her fist. She hated it. And the two reactions I had got from her were a proof of that.

"Did you sleep well?" I asked sitting on the stool beside the bed.

"Have you had your breakfast?" I asked again. No response.

"I brought something for you. You like chocolate, don't you? And look what we have here,"

After going through her file so many times I knew everything about her. Every little detail the world should know about her was written and I knew it. But the rest that should have been there but wasn't, I had no idea.

I kept the piece on my palm but didn't move it under her gaze. I wanted her to move and look at me this time. But she didn't.

"Riddhima," I whispered and waited.

Wait. It was the only thing I could do. I had to give her time to start responding. She wasn't like any other patient of mine. She was different and it meant I had to treat her differently. I had to keep patience. And no matter how long she needed I was ready to give it to her. Some react quickly and some take time. And she was the latter one.

I heard a very faint murmur. A kind of silent whisper and quickly darted my eyes towards her face.

"Alone...Alone...Alone...Alone...Alone..." I heard her murmuring. And then I saw her moving. She started moving her upper body to and fro like a pendulum murmuring the same word...Alone.

"Riddhima," My voice was more than enough to trigger her actions.

"ALONE,"

The next instant she jumped out of the bed looking around for an escape. I stood up to help her but had to stop myself as soon as I looked at her face for the first time. Her eyes held so much terror that I had to stop from moving any further. She was scared but it was her eyes that showed the real terror.

Pure Terror.

The door opened behind me and I saw her eyes getting widened. SH**. Before I could have control the damages, the damage was done.

The two ward boys and the nurse grabbed her by her arms harshly and pushed her on the bed face down. She turned her face to look at me as the other continued to hold her arm tightly. For the first time our eyes met and I couldn't look anywhere else. The pure terror I saw a second back was replaced by something else.

Was that a smirk on her face?

I don't think so.

"Alone," She mouthed looking at me before she closed her eyes.
