Locker Room

"K everything went just the way you said."

Kriya nodded her agreement. Kriya and Neha were peaking out of the class along the way to both locker rooms "Yeah bas ab koi ladka locker room me aa jaye phir aayega maja. Official complain hogi toh Ms. Behanji out of college and I'll be free of this unwanted baggage." Kriya silently prayed for her plan to success.

Taani marveled at accomplished with smart interior beautifully painted locker room. She had had a locker in her school but it was never the same. This was Mumbai and everything in here was huge, marveling. Taani walked towards the lockers which were at complete opposite side of door. She still couldn't believe she was in St. Louise. It still seemed like a dream. She was in Mumbai. But it was not easy, she had to promise thousand time to her father that she will take care of herself and assured him for like millionth time that she will manage in the stranger place and moreover she was not alone completely after all. If not for Kriya staying in Mumbai, her father would never have allowed her to come to Mumbai.

She stopped at her tracks and pulled back her hand which was caressing the vividly painted lockers. She felt some movement behind her and turned to 90 degree. For a second shock crossed her face giving way to bewilderment "hey" she heard and her pupil widened.

Rey, who had already shoved his discarded shirt in his locker and was picking up another, turned to his left and saw the face wearing baffled expression. He didn't notice her earlier when he hurried inside the room, when he nonchalantly greeted her. It was simply instinctive. But now he noticed her. She was here in front of him. And the biggest problem was she was a girl. Her being girl was actually not a problem but she was standing in boys locker room like a Mannequin on display; Mannequin starring at him with those big brown eyes.

Rey didn't realize how shock he was as he also stood starring at her. Suddenly Taani blinked and took a step back hurriedly. Everything happened next was in blur for Taani as she hit the floor with a weight over herself. Slowly, Taani opened her eyes and found herself starring at those honey brown eyes again. Her eyes were quite different to his, just minor difference otherwise they would have had identical pairs of brown. She blinked through her analysis on different shaded of brown when he shifted to get up.

"What do you think you are doing here?"

Taani heard still struggling to get up and looked up at him. He was certainly sounding angry which confused Taani. Anger was quite right emotion but coming from wrong end. She would be the one shouting at him for dashing in like this, barging off his 6 packs. She huffed while getting up, exasperated. He doesn't seem to have any manners. He at least should have bothered to help her but he didn't. Rey was actually too worked up to play gentleman.

"Don't you think yeh baat mujhe aapse puchani chahiye?"

"Oh really?"

"haan." Taani stood firmly. New or what she was not going to back down. Rey took an angry step towards her "what are you doing here?" he asked every bit through his teeth clearly annoyed. Taani was about to answer him back when she noticed the close proximity they were sharing and realized a heat flowing throw him. She didn't answer him but turned around "please aap pehle jaaker kapde pahaniye" neither was he any gentleman nor he has any shame, thought Taani.

Rey's mouth dropped hearing her and replaced with fresh stock of anger. But he moved to take his shirt from his locker mumbling something about being shirtless not cloth less. Taani was not paying enough attention to his words as she felt a weird kind of sensation which passed through her few moments ago when his body touched her, adamantly increasing. She nervously pushed her hairs behind her ear. She never actually had talked to any guy and this was certainly more for her inexperienced mind to bear.

She gulped down and breathed frantically to ease down the trembling in pit of her stomach. It was weird. She saw the crumbled paper near the locker. So this was what her foot fell and she fall. and he tried to save you, whispered a small voice in her mind.

"Tum yaahan kya kar rahi ho?" he asked again.

"Main… main jo bhi kar rahi hoon but aap yaahan kya kar rahe ho aur wo bhi bina kapdo ke"

She was still not looking at him. "Tum turn kar sakti ho" he said finished buttoning his shirt "-Maine kapde pehen liye hai" he particularly stressed on kapde Taani noticed. Taani looked at him from corner of her eyes, still caution.

"So why are you here? Don't you know you are not allowed here?"

"kyon?" Taani's brows pulled together. It was simply not done. Just because she was new, they can't restrict her from locker room. How she dreamt of having her own locker. "-Just because main new hoon?"

"No because you are a girl."

"Main ladki hoon iska locker room se kya connection hai?"

"Off course connection hai you are girl and tum locker room me nahi aa sakti." Rey saw weird expressions playing on Taani's face and corrected himself "I mean girls are not allowed in boys locker room."

"But main-"she stopped as her mind registered his words "boys locker room?"

"Boys locker room." said Rey nodding his head.

Taani was confused for a second "but yeh toh girls locker room hai na?" Rey raised his brows. The way she was looking at him, he was sure she actually thought she was in girls locker room but how can someone be mistaken when a large board was hanging outside, unless… unless "One second, tumhe locker room ka rasta kisne bataya?"

"Locker room ka rasta?" she stared at him for a second and shrugged "Kriya di ne." she said as a matter of fact.

"Why I am not surprised" muttered Rey under his breath.

"Huh?"

"Nothing ah… yeh boys locker room hai and girls locker bahaar se straight jaake jo last room aayega wahaa hai"

Taani was still pondering over the confusing situation. But kept the thought aside as she heard his voice and mumbling a small apology she hurried out of the room without giving him any chance to say anything. Taani stopped on her way to throw the crumbled paper she picked from locker room in dustbin and glanced at large board hanging near the door with boys locker room written over it. Taani reeled back the events in her mind, she was certain that when she entered it was girls locker room board. Taani waved the thought, thinking it might be her mistake and why Kriya will mislead her? Hearing the bell, she hurried toward the girls locker room, her dress still smelled of coffee.

"I can't believe. How can you do it? I mean boys locker room me ladki ko bhej diya? It's a limit baatcutter." Rey was letting out all his frustration which was bubbling up in him since morning.

"Limit? Yeah right it's a limit. My best friend, my boyfriend taking my enemies side."

"Oh give it a break baatcutter. Enemy? You barely know her."

Kriya was getting more riled up with each second. What was wrong with him? "I can't believe tum us ladki ki side le rahe ho."

Rey looked at her; she was completely red due to anger of course. She was cute even when angry, noticed Rey and sighed. Shouting his opinion won't help resolving the problem. He has to calmly handle the situation "baatcutter I am not taking her side" he exhaled seeing her glancing away from him with lips stretch outwards a clear indication that she was angry "-Look baatcutter we are part of authority and aaj jo hua ager princi sir ko pata chal jata toh? I mean kya impression hota hamara and moreover you sent a girl in boys locker room, God forbid ager uske saath kuch wrong ho jata toh? Then what baatcutter? What I am trying to say is you are a CS and I am Gs and being part of authority students are our responsibility and we should take it seriously."

Kriya looked at him from corner of her eyes. She knew he was right "Alright. Got you point. Stop giving lectures."

"Lectures?-" he mumbled suddenly. "-God I forgot to tell you we have PR lecture with juniors"

"What?" she frowned at him "-What lectures?" but Rey was not listening to her "Oh god how can I forget?"

"What are you talking about Rey?"

"Itni important baat"

"Rey, you are making me angry now."

Rey turned to her; she was sitting with her hands folded to chest and very serious expression on face. She raised her brows- indicating him to explain. Rey sighed "okay so to start with first of all we are having PR classes started from this year which we have to take jointly with juniors. Principle sir called this morning and gave me the breaking news that we are hosting footloose this year and to top the charts we are running out of volunteers"

"What the" she shook her head "- from where footloose came in picture. Footloose toh Royals host karne wale the then suddenly"

"Suddenly we are supposed to host it. I don't know much but Royals are neither hosting nor taking part in Footloose."

"Oh my god Rey how are we going to manage all this? Already charity function is on head, we still have to set routine for it and this PR classes and now Footloose. Are they trying to kill us with work overload?"

"Stop complaining baatcutter. Everything will be fine. We will manage something." Rey and Kriya both turned hearing the bell ring and Rey checked his watch "come on, time for PR classes"

Kriya rolled her eyes "Yeah right." And they both make their way to class.

Journey to class was not easy. In the college of such a large size finding a class could be tiresome for a newbie. Taani stopped seeing the class number and rushed in. she spared one passing look at Rey and Kriya, who were so involved in their discussion that they didn't even realize when professor walked in. Taani was comforted that everything was going normal with the lectures, till now. Though, she was still nervous and feeling jitters in her stomach but still she was very excited.

Taani was busy writing down her notes when her glance turned to Rey and Kriya's table. She squeezed her eyes to make sure she was not dreaming. Kriya was stealthily passing through benched and with one perfect swift movement she was out of the window. Taani's mouth shaped in a big O. Rey shook his head seeing Kriya rushing out. She was a kid. Only Rey knew what it took him to stop her till attendance. But then it was Kriya. Kriya could leave everything but couldn't miss her dance classes.

Seeing Kriya disappearing, Rey turned back to his book when he saw Taani. She was starring past him, out of the window. She saw everything, Rey knew. It got him worried. If she made noise Kriya will be caught. As if in telepathy Taani turned to him suddenly and he shook his head to her. Taani gulped down and went back to continue her notes.

The silent hall turned all buzzing as soon as the finishing bell rang. Taani quickly stacked up her books and made her way towards Rey, who was rushing out hurriedly.

"Di kahaan gayi?" she asked all of sudden to catch his attention before he leaves. She forgot his name. She has heard it when Kriya called him the other night but she couldn't remember it now. Rey stopped and turned to her "Di?" he said with raised brows.

"wo nahi main…"

Rey smirked at her clearly enjoying her nervousness "its okay if you call her di in front of me but Kriya ke saamne mat bolna. trust me you will regret it."

Taani smiled remembering Kriya's reaction "I know."

"I can't disagree with you." said Rey as they made their way towards ground floor.

"wo di…" Taani said after a small silence.

Rey turned to her "ah wo dance classes."

"di hamesh aise…" Taani trailed making Rey chuckle "well that is Kriya for you." Taani noticed his tone going all adoring when he took Kriya's name. They must be real good friends, thought Taani.

Changing quickly Rey started doing warm ups. Kriya was actually right. They were running short of time. He has to set a routine for charity function soon enough. Thinking about Kriya reminded Rey of Taani and he laughed out loud remembering her expression. At that time he panicked but now as he remembered her face she was looking so funny… very funny.

"Reyansh Singania… ab ise kahaan dhundu" mumbled Taani walking out of college premises. Tomorrow she has to find him, thought Taani, starring out of auto.
