Chapter three
KriSha were pedaling, giggling and gossiping together. [Girls, after all 🤣] Their gossips ended in teachers.
"Tujhe pata hai, Mrs. Deepika ke khana mei kisine mirchi daal di!"
"Really? Sharon, don't kid."
"I'm sure dear. Mujhe samaj nahi aata…"
"…ki kisne himmat ki hogi uss rakshas ke khaane mei mirch dale," Kriya completed for her.
They both started giggling.
"Pata haina woh moti kya H.W deti hai."
"Ha. I hate her. Mrs. Hema bhi bohot H.W. deti hai, haina?"
"Ha yaar. Usne kya dhaasu assignment diya tha last week. Tune complete kiya, woh 20 marks ka? Mujhe toh kal hi yaad aaya."
"What? Par woh wala toh 1 month ka tha. I mean hame isi animal ke development ki report bnanani thin a humaare science project ke liye. Aur hume uske liye 1 month mile tha apni journal mei note karne ke liye."
"Arey ha maate! Mujhe pata hai. Par mei bhool gayi thi."
"How'd you do in a day then?"
"Woh meine kisi se copy kar liya."
"Kisse?"
"Uss chipkali se!"
Kriya started laughing hard. Sharon got confused.
"Tum has kyu rahi ho?"
"Tum [chuckle}… mera malab…[chuckle]…tumne Swayam ka project copy kiya [chuckle]?"
"I know. Unbelievable, right? But as if I had an option."
"Means?"
*Flashback*
Sharon enters the class IX D and sits in her place, keeping her bag down. The 8th graders had to climb stairs up as their class was on 3rd, the last floor. What they had to do was climb the stairs up with their heavy back-packs, place them in their classes, and then go in the open theatre down for their regular assembly programme.
And Sharon would rush up the stairs. So now she was exhausted. She took out her sipper and gulped down 1/4th of the bottle.
As she was having her drink, entered Swayam.
[No one was present at the moment in the class. Sharon had come early as Kriya had got a fever and Rey was in the assemble programme. For the others, they hadn't yet reached the school, as usually the awesome foursome reached earlier of all.]
Sharon stopped drinking water and stared him for a moment. Then she kept the bottle aside and adjusted herself going to the right side.
Kriya and Sharon sat on the same bench with Akib between them. They treated Akib as their brother. Akib Lakhani was a muslim. Even Sharon was a muslim. Her real name was Sharmin Kapasi, but she was popular by this name. Kriya didn't mind it, nor did Sharon. Kriya was a jain. Kriya Bagadia. They didn't believe in all that. J
"Tumhaari jagah toh left side haina? Why are you going the right side?"
"Why do you care?"
"I care? Ha! I'm just saying out of humanity. Because if you won't be seated in your place, or Deepika will eat you up."
"Deepika? How can she come right now? First period is Mrs. Hema's!"
"But Kriya had told me yesterday that she would be absent today!"
"Really? Kriya told you before me? Ha! And anyways, I'd better be seated in my place. Waise bhi uss moti ko hum dono ki… I-I mean hum sab ki life kharab karni hi acchi lagti hai. I hate her, even more then you."
Mrs. Deepika known as rakshas, was a stout, really fat lady [Monster, as they said!] with a big mole [As big as a marble] on her right balloon type pimply cheek. She had incredibly greasy and curly hear which she took in short ponytail with a hair clip. She wore thick round glasses. You'd always see her with grouchy mood and gritting teeth.
Sharon turned her face away in disappointment. Swayam saw this change of expression. Frustrated Sharon is better than this one, he thought. So he came on an idea. He blew his little tummy as hard as it could to show himself obese, pouted his mouth and started gritting his teeth.
"Ms. Sharmin urf Sharon, aapko apni jagah nahi pasand? Sister [The principal] ki office kaisi rahegi?"
Looking at this, Sharon couldn't help herself. She burst out laughing. They both shared a laugh and, of course a LL. Sharon was the first one to be alert. She choked. Swayam too came back to reality. There was an awkward silence. So Swayam thought to start a conversation.
"Shero.. Tumne kis.."
"Hey! Don't call me that you chipkoo chipkali."
"Why? Even you call me Chipkali, but do I stop you?"
"That is your problem, now I am telling you so don't call me."
"Ugh.. Can't you stop complaining a single second?"
"Why? For the great highness.. Now what were you saying?"
"I was asking you that on which reptile you did your project."
Can't he stop being studious.. oh wait! Project? I haven't done it yet. Shit! The submission's tomorrow! When will I submit? Gosh! Sharon's face from irritation turned to horror.
"Woh..woh..mei Mrs. Hema ka project bhool gayi."
"What? But tomorrow is the last day of submission!"
"Ab kya? Mei bhool gai… There is no way out."
"There is," he said and grinned.
*Flashback over*
"Pata hai? Chipkali ne chipkali par project kiya tha," said Sharon ending her story.
" Oh wow. Swayam is a true friend. Meine toh khud apne aap apna project kiya hai… mein toh papa ko ek baar dekhne ke liye bhi kaha tha… OH CRAP!"
"KYA HUA?"
"MEIN APNA ASSIGNMENT BHOOL GAYI!"
"WHAT?"
"Ha… Ab mein kya karoo?"
"Ek kaam kar, tu ghar jaa ke jaldi se lee aa. Waise bhi Mrs. Hema aaj dance tryouts mei busy hogi."
"Ha… mein bhaagti hun…"
Saying this Kriya ran on her cycle backwards.
"Mein bhaagti hun, aur humaare substitute teacher ko kuch bahaana bhi toh dena hoga Kritz ke liye! Bhaag Shar!"

ReYam were racing and Rey was in front. He got a thought of resting, but then remembered the hare-tortoise story. He thought 'Lemme take this shortcut.'
Saying this he went in that shortcut.
But still according to the story, he took rest in between. He stared chatting with some random girl on his cell phone. He had activated his internet pack.

"MOM! Jaldi se meri woh book do!" Kriya shouted from outside her house. She started ringing the cycle-bell.
Her mother came running taking the book from her house.
"HUMESHA BHOOL JAATI HO! YEH LO.."
"SORRY! Bye mom!"
She snatched the book and ran. [On cycle 🤣]

Swayam was ahead now, but on the other way. He stood for a while.
"Rey itni aage chala gaya? Bohot fast ho gaya hai aaj kal. Tab toh mera jeetna impossible hi hai. Thora dheere chalata hun.. par nahi. I shouldn't give up!" saying so he raced forward and ascended. But as he was racing…

Kria was cycling as fast as she could, when suddenly; it struck her to take the shortcut. She smiled in victory and ascended towards the shortcut.
She was cycling speedily, when suddenly, her tire got punctured. She got down and checked her wheel. She stump her foot on the realisation that it had been punctured due to the thorn which was on the dusty road.
"Universe ji! What are you doing? Koi hint de di hoti ki yeh rosf ns lo.. par nahi! Aap toh busy ho dusri ladkiyon ki saari baatein sunne mei! Mujhe toh aap bhool hi gaye!"
Rey who was sitting nearby, heard this. He just heard the last two statements, and thought it was him who Kria was referring. They both were rivals-sort of and it was very nice for him to hear so. He got off his bike and went towards her.
"No worries darling. See! Mei tumhaari sun raha hun!"
"Reyansh? Aap yahan?"
"Mei wahan hota hi hun jaha kisi ladki ko help chahiye ho!"
"Excuse me, please. The one who is everywhere, is one-and-only, God. My Universe ji."
"Huh? Whatever! Ab bolo jo bolna hai woh, I am listening."
"Kya 'I am listening'? Amway ke agent ho gaye ho kya?"
"Wow! This is what one gets for humanity. Tumhaare bulaane pe mei yaha aaya aur tum ho ki…"
"Kya? Meine tumhe bulaya? Huh! Mujhe toh pata bhi nahi tha kit um yaha ho."
"What? Toh abhi toh keh rahi thi ke mei saari ladkiyo ki suntan hun par tumhaari…"
"Hey you idiot," she said slapping his forehead. "I was talking with God! Not you! Airhead!"
"Oh.. I thought.. But, what is the problem?"
"You."
"I?"
"You are my problem. Just get away."
"Ms. 1920, seriously answer my question. What is the problem?"
Kria frowned on the mention of her nick name.
"My tire got punctured. And I'm late for school."
"Oh! Not a big deal. I've got a bike. Hop on!"
"Yea! And give myself a chance to pollute the environment, isn't it?"
"I know you are eco-conscious and all, but it's alright for once."
"No. I'll walk to school and get a late remark rather then helping you terrorists in polluting the atmosphere. Please, carry on," she said kicking her cycle stand up and dragging her cycle with a cute pout on her face.
"Arey, par how can I let a girl get so much troubled?" he said kicking his bike stand up and dragging it catching up her pace beside her.
"The girl you call, 1920 evil returns, isn't it?"
"Whatever, but the girl is a girl, isn't it?"
"I don't need your help. Please, speed up with your bike. It will be better for me too."
"That is why I am here. I can't let you be in peace being a rival, can I?"
"Ugh, why do you need to do this?"
"I am following the relationship I have with you."
She stopped. Seeing her he stopped. She had a shocked expression. She turned towards him.
"Relationship?" she said in disbelief.
"Yes. Enmity."
"Oh!" she sighed and ascended her bicycle.
"What did you think?"
"No-nothing."
The other journey was continued with arguments and bantering. They finally reached the gates of 'Fatima Convent Primary School'. Yea, being in 8th they were still in primary school as 8th had shifted in primary section. They entered their school, and got late remarks on their calendar. Then Kria gave her cycle to the watchman for repairs and they both went to their class. There were two staircases. Despite of being in the same class, they both went in different stairways.
