Khushi kumari gupta was nothing if not unpredictable!!!
thats why when the 8 year old decided that she wants to become an army officer, no one in particular took her seriously.
But the very next day when she insisted on getting "fauji-cut" hair for herself, her amma alarmingly started asking her questions, on why sudden change of decision from halwai to bus conductor to taangewaali to army officer.
She had so seriously described that when she makes jalebi she realizes that she can do it for her whole life, hence being halwai was her first choice.
Then one day she realized that being a bus-conductor will help her in traveling without paying any money.
It was watching sholay and particularly basanti which has triggered her enthusiasm to become a taangewaali.
But then yesterday she had watched how everyone had gathered around shyam bhaiya, who had returned from kargil war. She had seen that look of proud and glint in eyes of his mother, as he had narrated the story how his "jawans" had fought bravely and recaptured every inch of land of their own country. It was then decided that she indeed wants to become an army officer.
Her amma had sighed in relief, pulled her daughter into her lap and told her in a loving voice-
" bitiya!!! sirf sarhad par ladne waale hi bahadur nahin hote. Bahaduri to zindagi ka doosra naam hai. Har us baat ke khilaaf khade hone ki himmat rakhna jo tumhari nazar me galat hai, wo bahaduri hai.
Aur hum auratein to waise hi itni bahadur hoti hain. Ek nanhi si jaan ko apne aap mein seenchkar usse iss dharti par sahi salamt laane ka haunsla in mardo me nahi ho sakta tha, isliye to devi maiyya ne ye kaam ham auraton ko diya.
Ek baat hamesha yaad rakhna bitiya, agar kabhi tumhe ye lage ki tum kamzor pad rahi ho, to ye yaad kar lena ki tumhari amma ne ek beti ko paida kiya tha, ek kayar ko nahin."
she was afraid.
She was very afraid.
She was standing in an office, just dropped from the glass chamber of her boss on first floor, drenched in blue paint, with employees all around her. Some murmuring concern for her, some actually laughing on her state. But none coming to help her.
She felt so alone , and for a moment she was afraid.
No one here is human, they wouldnt have even blinked an eyelid even if the rakshas boss had killed me, she thought.
She felt like running away from there , to the warmth of her amma and bauji , and never coming back again.
But she couldn't even move a feet.
"Ek baat hamesha yaad rakhna bitiya, agar kabhi tumhe ye lage ki tum kamzor pad rahi ho, to ye yaad kar lena ki tumhari amma ne ek beti ko paida kiya tha, ek kayar ko nahin."
No , she wont run. She will stand against him and tell him that he is wrong. Even if no one here has got the guts to tell him on face that what he has done is wrong , she will tell him. There is always a first time and may be today is the first time that Arnav Singh Raizada will be told that
" main aapse nahin darti."
She is afterall, her mother's daughter.
