Today this FF is celebrating it's 21st birthday... 🤣You know, 21 chapters 😆 So I thought why not kill your curiosity and spill the beans about what exactly is wrong with Maanvi. Read on to find out 😛
Chapter 21: Spilling the beans
Maanvi was quiet for some time, lost in her thoughts. Virat snapped her out of her little zone.
'Hello?!' Virat asked.
'Yeah' yeah? NO! I'm not having breakfast outside!' Maanvi enforced.
'YES you-'
'Leave it be Virat. Maanvi shouldn't be eating outside while she's pregnant,' Jeevika reminded.
'IN YOUR FACE!' Maanvi said poking her tongue at him, 'Dada Ji' can I please sit down?'
'Okay, okay,' Dada Ji finally agreed.
Maanvi proudly hurried her way to the breakfast table but this time Jeevika told her off, 'Take it easy Maanvi! Don't go so fast!'
'IN YOUR FACE,' Virat imitated.
'Di' your, your devar has started acting way too smart! You're gonna get it Virat!' Maanvi warned him.
'We'll see about that,' Virat teased.
'Right! That's it!' Maanvi got up from her chair and made her way to the sofa grabbing all the cushions and chucking them at Virat.
'I'm on Maanvi's side!' Viren exclaimed and got up from his chair too.
'I'm on Virat's!' Jeevika called excitedly.
Virat, Viren and Maanvi often had pillow fights together...yes, that was earlier on in life when Virat and Maanvi were happily married. They were always teamed up as Viren and Maanvi vs Virat and it was only natural for Jeevika to join in and team up with her devar. Then all that happened was pillow flew around the house whacking peope. There was noise and laughing ' and happiness. At the end of the pillow fight Viren and Jeevika hugged each other, which was usually Virat and Maanvi's job but their current situation wasn't like it had been a year ago, so they didn't.
'Di, I'm hungryyy!!' Maanvi reminded Jeevika.
'Oh yeah! Let's go and eat something.'
Dada Ji eventually agreed to sit Virat down on the breakfast table of them and the whole family finally ate something. Everyone returned to their rooms after breakfast. Maanvi needed a lie down, she was feeling sick again.
'You're alright,' Maanvi told herself back in her room, 'You're fine.'
Maanvi rolled over in bed. Something was wrong, very wrong. Her stomach cramped, her body ached, her head throbbed.
'Ahh!' Maanvi cried.
Just then Virat entered the room, 'Maanvi? What's wrong?!'
Then, all Maanvi knew was the warmth of his arms.
'Ahhh!' Maanvi cried her voice full of pain and agony.
'Maanvi! Please! Tell me what's wrong? Are you sick? Are you okay? Should I call the doctor?'
Maanvi couldn't even reply. This was bad, really bad.
'Bhabhi?!' Virat called, 'Bhai?!'
Jeevika and Viren came almost immediately at the sound of Virat's tensed voice. They saw Maanvi's state, it was horrible. Her face was red, her body helpless, so bad that she could barely speak.
'Viren Ji, please call the doctor!' Jeevika pleaded in concern as she took Maanvi from Virat.
Viren called Maanvi's gynaecologist who came in minutes later. It came to the stage where Maanvi couldn't tolerate the pain. She had taken all the right medicines but there was no improvement. The doctor eventually had to give her an injection of anaesthesia. Maanvi went unconscious for a little while. When she woke up the entire family was in the room with the doctor next to her.
'How are you feeling now Maanvi?' The doctor asked.
'I'm' I'm fine,' Maanvi replied, 'better at least.'
'Good. Now listen, this is the start of your fourth month, and-'
'Fourth month?!' Priya asked.
'Fourth month,' Virat confirmed to Priya.
'-and you need to take good care of yourself Maanvi,' the doctor said eyeing her.
Virat and Jeevika were suspicious as the doctor told Maanvi, 'You need rest Maanvi' you need to take care of your child, and yourself.'
Maanvi nodded as if she understood everything. The doctor left behind some more medicines and as soon as she had gone Virat came to Maanvi.
'What are you hiding from me?' he questioned.
Maanvi looked up at him, heart beating fast, 'N-nothing.'
'Stop lying Maanvi!' Virat shouted, 'This is no joke! I know you're hiding something!'
'Virat I'm not-'
'Yes you are Maanvi,' Jeevika interrupted, 'don't think you can hide the truth from me, you are hiding something.'
'I'm not! Please! Just believe me' there's nothing to tell you!'
'Fine then,' Virat tutted, 'I'll find out anyway.'
In saying this Virat left the room. Jeevika was upset with Maanvi for not telling her the truth so she left too and Viren followed. Prem came to Maanvi asking her whether she was okay but she asked for some alone time. Prem agreed, telling her to take care of herself. One by one each member left the room leaving Maanvi alone to die inside herself. She covered her face with her hands. She couldn't do this any longer. She had to tell Jeevika. A few moments passed and Maanvi went to Jeevika's room.
'Di?' She asked.
Jeevika turned around, unhappy with Maanvi, 'What?' she asked bluntly.
Maanvi closed the door behind her and sat next to Jeevika on the bed, 'I have to tell you something.'
Jeevika's expression changed to a confused look, 'Are you telling me about what you're hiding?'
'Yes,' Maanvi closed her eyes.
'So you were hiding something, will you tell me now?'
'Di, D-Di' '
'Please tell me Mannu!' Jeevika asked of her, 'I'm dying inside myself! Please tell me.'
'First you have to promise me you won't tell Virat about his,' Maanvi pleaded.
Jeevika hesitated to reply.
'O-okay,' she said after a few moments.
'D-Di,' Maanvi let the words escape as she swallowed her tears, 'M-my child-'
'Your child? What about your child?' Jeevika asked.
'Di' I can only give birth to my child if' if ' if I ' if I sacrifice my life. The Doctor said that' that either my child or my life' only one-one can be s-saved,' Maanvi cried in anguish.
Jeevika was left stunned. Her silence pierced Maanvi.
'Di! Di please, please say something, Di please!!'
'And' what have you decided to-to do?' Jeevika asked nervously; swallowing hard; eyes still staring at the ground.
Maanvi took a deep breath, 'Give birth to the child.'
Jeevika's tear filled eyes slowly made their way up to meet Maanvi's face ' she was lost for words.
'H-has ' has V-Virat agreed?' Jeevika managed to force out of her mouth.
'I haven't told him.'
'What? Maanvi?! I'm not losing my sister like this! You're my life! What do you mean you haven't asked Virat?! You have too! He-'
'He wants the child Di' he loves the child,' Maanvi told Jeevika without hesitation.
'Yes but how do you know he loves the child more than you?!' Jeevika asked.
'Di?! What are you trying to say? Virat doesn't love me!' Maanvi cried.
'Yeah' he tells you to sleep in his room every night, takes care of you beyond explanation, is always concerned about your health. If you don't call this love then what is it Mannu?'
'He's just affectionate towards his child Di! Virat loves PRIYA. I have NOTHING to do with him! Please Di! Try and understand,' Maanvi pleaded.
'I will understand. But I will only understand when you tell Virat the truth and he agrees to sacrificing your life for the child,' and in saying this a very upset and heartbroken Jeevika left the room. Just before exiting the door she reminded Maanvi, 'I won't let anything happen to you Maanvi' death won't even find a pathway leading to your doorstep as long as I'm here. And also remember, your death means my death.'
Jeevika's words killed Maanvi. How could she make Jeevika understand how much this child meant to Virat?
