CHAPTER 1
The room was dark, and dim light filtered through the stained glass painting. The door creaked open a wee bit and light filtered in. A girl stood in the doorway, and awaited for permission from the woman seated in the chair behind the desk. "Ma'am?"
The woman looked up. "Yes?"
The girl walked up to her. "It is time. She HAS to know..."
The lines of the woman's face hardened. "NO! It was her choice! I cannot-"
"We all know why she chose it...But now we need her." Saying that the girl got up and left the room.
The woman sighed and flicked her hands. "Wind, do your bidding..."
She was running like never before. The trees that slashed her skin meant nothing. She kept running towards her destination. She finally reached there; a clearing in front of a lake. She was confused. Where were they? She stepped in cautiously and looked around. Suddenly, she heard someone behind her. She turned around in time to see a hooded figure shoot wisps of black at her. Before she could react, another hooded figure jumped in out of nowhere taking the hit.
"NO!" she woke up screaming. Khushi looked around...Yes, she was in her room. Her hands were sweaty and moist. Just a dream Khushi...Just a dream...She told herself, but was not convinced. She felt a cool breeze flow over her head and she looked up and as if unreal, suddenly saw a pair of chocolate eyes in mid air.
She screamed, and those eyes vanished at the same time...
Those eyes...She had seen them before...Where... She clasped her head, a mild headache was coming on. She looked at the clock- 4 am. Well, better get up she thought. Just one hour early than the time she usually woke up.
She got out of her night dress and wore her track pants and tied her hair up in a ponytail. Taking a water bottle along with her, she went into the chilly morning air for a jog.
Buaji was still asleep and she silently went out. She was not wearing any jacket and did not feel the chill of the morning; so she was perplexed as she saw the few people here and there completely covered and still shivering. As she passed by a group of people huddled by a huge fire in the street she felt a strange warmth travelling up her back. Frowning, she jogged ahead, away from the fire and all of a sudden, the heat disappeared. Confused, she walked back closer and closer to the fire, and when she was a meter away from the fire, her back seared with heat. Gasping in pain, she ran back home, wanting to soothe her burning back.
As she stormed in through the doors of her house, Buaji who had woken up looked at her. "Ae Titaliya! Where were-"
She stopped as she noticed her red cheeks and profuse sweating. "It is so cold, how come you are sweating Nandkisore!?" she asked anxiously.
"M-My b-back Buaji!" Khushi gasped.
Frowning, Buaji got up and folded up Khushi's Tee. She suppressed a gasp at the sight. In front of her, the flame part of Khushi's tattoo was glimmering. Buaji closed her eyes. This meant... Oh no!!!
Arnav walked out of the airport in Mumbai. It was so cold here! As he walked into the streets, he remembered her eyes...His prey's eyes... Hazel and clear, just like his angel's... Her eyes were all he remembered of her! Argh! Those crazy element women had snatched his Angel from him AND all he remembered about her...Her name, her face! He remembered nothing...! Absolutely NOTHING except her eyes and the memories he had with her...The problem with those memories was that his Angel's picture was blurry...ALWAYS. He closed his eyes, trying to block out those images.
He looked up when Di came out of the ward which held his life. He jumped up and tried to push past her, but to his surprise she did not let him go in. "NO Chhotey!"
He looked at her shocked. Anjali's eyes were moist. "You can't. Sh-she did not make it..."
His mind went numb and he felt dazed. He could see the world around him collapsing... "YOU ARE LYING DI!" he yelled.
Anjali flinched, but did not give up pushing him away. "Chhotey, please try and understand. You cannot see her!"
"Why?! And don't lie! She cannot just leave me and-"
Anjali inhaled deeply. "ENOUGH CHHOTEY! I SAID NO! YOU.CAN'T.SEE.HER." She never commanded or yelled at her brother, but now...nothing could be done. This was necessary...
"Di, one last time..." he begged.
"NO."
Arnav stared at his Di, shocked. He looked behind her back, just in time to see her being wheeled out from another room. His eyes filled with tears...'Vengeance'...That word rang in his mind. But he did not know how to take revenge...
Frustrated, he stormed out of the hospital. A BIG MISTAKE. There was a breeze and sudden stillness...And then...And then he remembered nothing... Just her eyes... Not her name, not her face...Her eyes and blurry memories...
Few days later, Di disappeared... It was because of those crazy women...!
His anger knew no bounds. He knew about the Renaissance Warriors. He had joined them nearly an year and half back, a week after Di was gone. They had taken away everything from him...He vowed he would hunt those women down one by one... And he had been given the first one of them to hunt down... And she was here...In Mumbai.
