Chapter 6 -

Arnav was in his room staring at pictures of himself and Khushi, which Aarti had drawn. His memory drifted towards the day he told Khushi that he was ready to become a "Father".

***********************Flashback**********************

Arnav and Khushi were on bed. Arnav was caressing Khushi 's waist. Khushi had her eyes closed.

Arnav - Khushi...

Khushi - Hmm..-

Arnav - Tumhari peet kitni choti hai.

Khushi - (opening her eyes) Huh??

Arnav - Itni choti peet mein bach kaisa hoga?

Khushi understood that he was teasing her. She blushed and hugged him.

Arnav - Khushi, I want a baby.

Khushi looked up at him surprised. She couldn't believe that her husband who didn't wanted kids anywhere near him had actually asked for a baby.

Khushi - Arnavj...aap...aap sach mein??

Arnav - Haan Khushi, I want a baby. I know ki tum bhi Ma banna bohot chahthi ho. aur main bhi Papa banne ke liye tayaar hoon.

Khushi was very happy. She hugged him and he hugged her back. He pulled back from the hug. He moved her pallu aside and kissed her waist. She sighed and caressed his hair.

Arnav 's eyes moistened. 'Kaha ho tum Khushi?'. Eight years... eight long years he lead a dead life. A life which did not exist. He did not know how he lived and why he lived. Maybe the hope... the hope that his Khushi and his child will return to him might have led him these eight years.

It was time for this hope to turn into reality.

The day of KarwaChauth.

Khushi 's house -

Khushi - Aree aaj bhi tum dono bahar jaa rahe ho?

Aarti - Aaj chutti hai na Ma.

Khushi - Par aaj tho KarwathChauth hai aur Ma ne subah se kuch nahi khaya hai, agar mujhe koi zarrorat pad gayi tho?

Arjun - Hum jaldi waapas aayenge aur waise acha hai na ki koi ghar par nahi hai, aap chaahe tho thoda khaana kha sakthe hain.

Khushi - Arjun!! khabardaar jo is tarah ka mazaak bola tho..

Arjun - (holding his ears) Ok sorry sorry.

Aarti - Ma hum aapke liye ek surprise plan kar rahe.

Khushi - Surprise?

Arjun - Haan, surprise. par aap iss surprise ke baare mein kuch nahi poochenge kyun ki hum nahi bataane waale hain.

Aarti - But don't worry surpise hum aaj hi denge.

Khushi hugged them both.

Khushi - Mujhe tum dono hai aur koyi tofe ki zaroorat nahi hai.

Arjun - Zaroorat hai Ma.

Aarti - Hum chalte hai.

They kissed her goodbye and left.

Later -

Arjun and Aarti were waiting in the park near Arnav 's hotel. Since Arnav had an important meeting he reached very late. The kids saw him going inside so they went to the hotel. Arnav got a call in his room that two kids were waiting for him in the lobby. He immediately went down to meet them.

In the lobby -

Arnav saw the kids sitting on couch.

Arnav - Tum dono yaha iss waqt kya -ar rahe ho?

As soon as thay saw him they hugged him. He hugged them back.

Arnav - Ok now tell me, kya problem hai?

Aarti - Koi problem nahi hai, woh bas hum aapke liye ek tofa laaya hai.

Arnav - What? kya laaye hai?

Arjun - Yeh.

He said handing him the kurta pajama they bought. It was Khushi a who had bought this for him. Khushi always bought a gift for Arnav on her birthday. This was the gift she bought for him on his latest birthday.

Arnav was surprised.

Arnav - Yeh tum dono ne khareeda?

Arjun - Woh sab hum tab bataayenge jab aap yeh pehenkar aayenge.

Arnav - What??

Aarti - Haan, chaliye jaldi pehankar aayiye,

Arnav - Par...

They folded their armas infront of their chests and waited,

Arnav - Ok.

He went to change. They were very happy. They hugged each other.

In Khushi 's house -

Khushi - Na jaane yeh dono kaha gaye hai. shayad Raghu Kaka ke saath honge. chuttiyon mein poore din usi ke saaath tho ghoomte hai.

She smiled and went to change. She wore a red saree. "Red", Arnav 's favorite colour. It always reminded her of him. How much she loved him.

How much she missed him.

A tear escaped her eyes. She wiped it, took her thaal and proceeded towards the mandir.

In the hotel lobby -

Arnav came wearing the blue kurta pajama the kids gifted him.

Arnav - So, kaisa lag raha hai.

They both smiled widely and gave him a thumbs up sign.

Arnav - Hmm tho ab bataao ki tum dono ne yeh kaise khareeda?

Aarti - Yeh humne nahi humari Ma ne khareeda hai.

Arnav 's eyes widened. Why would their Mother buy him a gift?

Arnav - Your Mother??

Arjun - Haan. Ma ne aapko tofa diya tho aapko unse "Thank You" bhi kehna chahiye. vhaliye aapko humari Ma se milwa dete hai.

They pulled him outside the hotel.

Arnav - But... wait...

The kids weren't listening to him. The kids pulled him towards his car. He didn't understand anything.

Aarti - Jaldi jaayiye, Ma paas waali mandir mein hi hai.

Arnav couldn't argue. He started his car and they wen to the mandir.

The pooja for KarwaChauth had started when they reached the mandir.

As soon as Arnav stepped into the mandir, he sensed that feeling...that feeling which was buried in his hear for eight years.

Khushi jerked opened her eyes from her prayer. She felt a cool breeze and her heart started beating fast. This had only happened when one person was around.

Arjun - Woh rahi humari Ma.

Arjun said pinting toward Khushi.

Aarti - Jaayiye.

Arnav saw a lady wearing a red saree. His heart started beating wildly. He only needed a glance. Even though it is from a long distance, he can recognize her because

she was the one who possessed his heart,

his better half.

Khushi was about to turn when the announcement came that the moon has rose, and all ladies including her proceeded for the rest of the rituals.

Arnav followed her. He couldn't leave his eyes from her. He couldn't let her go, not again.

Khushi raised her sieve towards the moon thinking about Arnav. She brought it down, and there... she saw...the man who was the reason for her breath,

the possessor of her heart,

her better half.

Arnav and Khushi stood staring at each other, tears not leaving their eyes. After some time, Khushi brought her thaal up and did his "aarti". She bent down to touch his feet. Her tears reached faster than her hands and he slowly pulled her up. He made her drink water and fed her the sweet which was in her thaal. She sobbed, She was about to touch his face when he shoved away her hands.

Khushi - Arnavji...

Arnav - Don't you dare Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada.

Khushi - (shocked) Arnavji...

Arnav - Tumhari himmat kaisi huii mujhe chodkar jaane ke liye? tum ne soch bhi kaise liya ki tum mujhe aur mere bachon ko alag karenge?How dare you?

Khushi - Main...

Arnav - No, don't say a word. tumse tho aur koyi umeed kaise rakh saktha hai. after all you are the crazy Khusho Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada.

A faint smile appears on her lips.

Arnav - (his expressions softening) Bohot intezaar karwaya tumne mujhse, ab aur nahi.

With that he pulled her towards himself for a tight hug. She held on to him with all her might.

Khushi - Mujhe maaf kar do Arnavji.

Arnav - I Love You Khushi.

Khushi - Hum bhi aapse bohot pyaar karte hai.

They cried in each other 's arms while their children watched them with a face both happy and sad.
