Chapter 19-Part B
Arjun was mentally thinking about the place corresponding to the initial and ending letters visible on the wet map. When suddenly he remembered something. He immediately called Shree to verify something, and after a few minutes he now knew where to look. But since they didnt have much time and it was only a random guess, Rathore, Chotu and Shree would look for further information, while he and Riya would go there. Riya and Arjun went together in SUV.
While they were travelling in the SUV, Riya asked Arjun why he thought Khushi was at that location.
"Remember when we had gone to check Kabir's house, despite it had all signs of not being habited for months, we saw a newspaper of one week ago. Well i had checked on the newspaper, and i distinctly remembered that on the front cover it had something of warehouse being closed, because its construction structures were no longer safe. The warehouse could fall at any time. And now that i think about it, the warehouse's name was WatPetge Ltd, and the area is also known as WatPetge since that building has been there for a very long time now. And i remember that this place was encircled with red ink! It may not lead to anything, but it's the only clue we have," Arjun replied.
Riya was very envious and proud of Arjun's thinking capabilities. She hoped that one day she'd be as good as he in solving crime issues. She prayed that they'd reach in time and that Khushi was really there. In about 20 minutes, they reached that place. Arjun and Riya got down from the SUV, but it was such a vast place that they didnt know where to look. So each went one way, and both were shouting at top of the voices "Khushi! KHUSHI? Where are you?" They kept calling for Khushi for a long time, but they didnt have any response. Arjun was nearing to one warehouse, he decided to check this one and went inside. He again screamed for Khushi, but nothing. On the other hand, Riya had already checked about 2 warehouses till now but nothing, there remained one last warehouse in a corner in her left direction, she entered in it and shouted and waited for any replies. That's when she heard some noises of water falling and a very feeble cry for help. She followed the noise, and finally came near a pit, and when she looked in it, she could see that Khushi was in it, the water was almost to the level of her throat. Riya knew she didnt have much time, she called Arjun for help and gave him the directions. Riya climbed down the ladder, and swam towards Khushi. She held Khushi's head above the water level, Khushi was already too weak to hold her own body, and due to being in this water for so long, she was shivering a lot. Riya mentally prayed for Arjun to come as quick as possible, because she couldn't hold Khushi and try to open the handcuffs at the same time. And just at that instant, she heard a splash and Arjun was next to her.
"She'd been handcuffed to a water pipe, I would have tried to release her, but she's almost unconscious. I'll hold her head, please try to release her," Riya told Arjun.
Arjun nodded, took and deep breath and went under the water. He tried to open the handcuffs but couldn't, it was too strong even for him. He went up for air, and plunged back trying to break the water pipe. But he wasn't successful in even moving the pipe. He had to come up for some air again, and saw that Khushi's head was almost covered in the water, Riya couldn't hold her higher due to the handcuffs, he had only one last chance to save khushi. He again took a deep breath and went down. He had only one choice now, he took his gun and shot at the handcuffs. And finally Khushi was free from it, Arjun and Riya both carried her body out, and laid her on the ground.
Riya bent her ear down near Khushi's mouth and checked if she was still breathing. But hopefully Khushi was still breathing, she was just too weak for anything. Riya smiled and looked up at Arjun with a happy grin. They had reached just in time. Suddenly they heard police sirens coming their way, and were surprised to see Rathore, Shree and Chotu rushing to them. Thankfully they had also brought an ambulance, and Khushi was taken away for treatment.
Arjun turned towards Rathore asking how come they are here also.
"Well i learnt from some of his friends, that his father used to work here, and during holidays Kabir used to come here with his father. Even after his father's death, Kabir used this as his secret place. He used to come here whenever he was angry or sad. And since everyone who was working here, knew Kabir since he was a child, they always welcomed him here. This place had been closed about one month back, when a metallic structure fell on a worker, and after investigations the place was found to be highly unstable, and thus this place was closed. So it must have been the perfect place for Kabir," Chotu told Arjun.
Shree and Chotu gave some blankets for Riya and Arjun to cover themselves. They both were wet and shivering a bit. All of them returned to the office, and Riya and Arjun went to change their wet clothes.
After about one hour, all met in the conference room, where the Commissioner had come personally to thank the whole ETF for saving his daughter.
"It was only our duty Sir," Rathore replied with a smile.
"I'm sorry about her hand Sir," Arjun said, "I had no other choice to release her. When i shot on the handcuffs, i know some metallic pieces plunged in her skin!"
"It's only minimal Arjun, what is important is that she's safe and sound now," the Commissioner said, " and she has asked me to personally thank you all. In fact as soon as she gets discharged from the hospital, she'll come to meet you all. Good job everyone!" and went away.
All were extremely exhausted after this work, but it was still too early to go home. So they went to complete their paper works in their own cabins. Arjun was leaning on his chair, he knew he had to talk with Riya. He didnt know how to start or what to say, but he had to tell her the truth now. He had been ignoring her for almost one month now. He went to look for her in her cabin.
Riya was also leaning in her chair thinking about Kabir and Khushi. She knew people were mad in love, but first time she had come across such an insane obsession. She was completely lost in her thoughts when suddenly Arjun knocked on her door and came inside. Riya was very surprised at seeing Arjun here. Arjun had been ignoring her for almost one month now, and all of a sudden he had come to talk with her, she couldn't believe it.
"Yes Sir, can i do anything for you?" Riya asked in professional tone.
Arjun sighed when he heard her tone, it wasn't going to be easy he thought. He knew he had hurt Riya a lot this past one month, but he had decided to confess about his feelings for her and this will be what he'll do.
Arjun finally gathered the necessary courage and told Riya why he had been avoiding her. He couldnt look in her eyes when saying this, so he turned and looked outside, "Riya, you know i never believed in love. And i dont even know why and how it happened. Since i met you, nothing has been the same for me. At first i was drawn to you, then i felt great anger and jealousy when you said you were Rathore's fiancee. I had to bring Shaina back, and i know i must have hurt you so much when i proved you a liar in front of the whole family at that time. But i had to do it, i had to break everything joining you and Rathore. At that time i didnt realise why, but now i know why i behaved like such a jerk. And then when you told me you loved Rathore, i felt such a sharp pain inside my heart, but still i had not realised why i was feeling this way. But then on Rathore's birthday party, during our last dance, i finally realised and got all my answers. I had fallen hopelessly in love with that girl," he turned to look at Riya, "You Riya are that girl, i love you a lot."
Riya was too much in shock to respond or say anything. Arjun took her silence in a negative way. He didn't want to see pity or even disgust in Riya's eyes, so he again turned away from her, "But don't worry, i'd never force you nor stalk you ever. I know you love Rathore a lot. I'll be fine. As soon as Rathore gets well, i'll leave from here, then you'd never have to see me again!" saying this he went away leaving Riya all alone in her cabin.
