Chapter Fifteen

Arnav and Khushi reached Pune. NK was already waiting for them at the entrance.

NK: Finally you guys are here!

Arnav: Be happy that we reached at least now!

Khushi: Ya if we would not have got Happyji then we would not have reached here any time soon!

NK: Happyji?

Arnav: It's a long story we will talk later.

Khushi: Ya! Looks like the guests have already started arriving.

NK: Ya they have!

Arnav: Well let's go in then!

Khushi: What about the dress then?

Arnav: What about it?

Khushi: How are we taking it inside? ... Obviously we can't take it through the front door since no one knows that we went to Mumbai to get the dress. If we take it through there then they will notice it and we will have to tell them the truth.

NK: Oh ya I forgot that!

Khushi: Hmmm ... NK you take the dress along with you and go in through the back door. We will enter from here. No one will suspect then.

NK: Great Idea! Let's do that then.

NK took the dress along with him and walks towards the back door while Arnav and Khushi enter through the front door. There they met Mamaji and Shashi -

Mamaji: Arre you guys reached!

Arnav: Ji!

Shashi: Well go get dresses quickly! The function will start soon.

Mamaji: Haan! Arnav bituwa your clothes are kept in the guest room! Go change there.

Shashi: Khushi show Arnav the guest room on your way!

Khushi: Ok Dad!

Khushi and Arnav walked off. Once she showed Arnav where the guest room was she went to her room where she found Anjali and Payal helping Lavanya with her dressing.

Lavanya: Oh see my best friend is here! Thanks for coming so early Khush ... Means a lot to me!

Khushi: I am sorry La!

Lavanya: Sorry se kaam nahi chalega! It's my wedding ... You are supposed to be there with me during all these days. But you end up leaving me on my sangeet day and come back only half an hour before the sangeet function starts. Khush you promised me you would help me dress up today and now you handed over that responsibility to Di and Payal. Not that I am complaining about that part ... they are my sisters too! But still I wanted you beside me. You could have tried to come earlier.

Khushi: La I said sorry na ... Jaan bujke thodi na kiya! I promise I will be by your side all day tomorrow until your bidai. I will dress you up tomorrow for sure ... after all dressing up for the wedding is more important than the sangeet function na!

Lavanya: Ya whatever!

Khushi: Arre itna bhi naraz math ho! You know it was not my fault! What can I do if there was a truck accident on our way back and that Laad Governor's car broke down in a forest.

Anjali: FOREST? Why did you go to a forest???

Khushi: Di stop freaking out. We took a short cut but that short cut road was through a forest! Anyways we will talk about all this later ... I am very tired let me go freshen up and get dressed for the function.

Saying that she went and hugged Lavanya and whispered "You look beautiful" in her ears and went to the bathroom to freshen up.

The sangeet function had started. The performances started off with Garima, Chandini and Shailini's song. Later Buaji and Mami tried their hand in dancing. NK and Lavanya did a couple dance. Now everyone was waiting for Khushi, Anjali and Payal's performance. The stage lights turned on again and there stood the three girls for whom everyone was waiting. Khushi was standing in the centre with a mike while Anjali and Payal stood on either side of her. Khushi came forward with the mike -

Khushi: La we have known you since childhood. We all literally grew up together. More than friends we have been sisters ...our life is an open book for each other. It's been wonderful to have you in our life and now you are all set to start a new life ahead. This is the beginning of a new journey of your life but that doesn't mean your old journey with us will end ... we are always going to be there for you La. NK take care of her and always keep her happy because she does not deserve anything else other than that. I am sure you already know that. May the love you both share today only grow deeper day by day. We wish you good luck, joy and happiness. We are so happy for you both. Love you both and this one is for you guys.

She kept the mike aside and all the lights on the stage except for the focus lights on the girls turned off. The music started and the girls started singing and dancing to the beats.

Khushi walked towards Lavanya with tears in her eyes and cupped Lavanya's cheek and started singing again.

By now not only did Khushi but almost everyone in the hall including Lavanya had tears in their eyes. Anjali and Payal who were still standing on the stage wiped their tears and started singing again to lighten the atmosphere. Soon Khushi also joined them.

The three girls went down the stage. Khushi took hold of NK's and Lavanya's hands and dragged them to the stage while Anjali and Payal dragged the elder members of their families to the stage. And all of them circled around NK and Lavanya while singing and clapping their hands.

The song ended and everyone cheered. Khushi, Lavanya, Anjali and Payal had a group hug while the elders looked at them with pure joy. The performances were all done and everyone started moving towards the food counter.

Later the sangeet ceremony was over and all the guests started to leave. Soon the Kapoors & Raizadas also left. Khushi, Anjali and Payal accompanied Lavanya to her house so that all the four girls could spend the last night before the wedding together.
