Chapter – 3
Khurana Constructions:
Maan was sitting in his cabin and drinking a hot cup of black coffee while going through a budget file for his upcoming project. There was a knock on his door.
"May I come in sir?", Adi asked.
"Yes, come in Adi.", Maan said, still looking at the file.
"Sir, these are the legal papers of the case you had to attend in Shimla", Adi said, handing him the file.
"Shimla….", Maan muttered.
Suddenly he remembered those enchanting hazel brown eyes he had seen in Shimla.
"Sir..", Adi's voice brought Maan out of his reverie. "These papers need your signature.", he said.
"Ok, you may leave now Adi", Maan said.
After Adi left, Maan picked up the file and was going through it, but he wasn't able to concentrate on the contents of the papers. For some reason, his mind kept wandering off to that day in Shimla, where the lady with the hazel brown eyes had bumped into him.
"What are you doing Maan? Concentrate!", he mentally chided himself.
As he was about to turn the next page in the file, his phone started ringing. It was an unknown number. He was wondering whether he should pick it up or not as he usually never answered calls from unknown numbers, but decided to go ahead and take the call.
"Hello!", he said.
"Hello, is this Mr.Maan Khurana?", the caller on the other end asked.
The minute Maan heard the voice, those hazel brown eyes which had been haunting him all this while, suddenly flashed before his eyes.
"Hello…", the voice interrupted his thoughts.
"Yes, who is this?", he asked.
"I am calling from City hospital. Your grandmother has been admitted….",
Before she could complete her sentence, Maan screamed, "WHAT?!"
"I am coming, I'll be there right away.", he said, in a state of panic and rushed out of his office, followed by his bodyguards, and made his way to the hospital quickly.

Hospital:
"Mrs.Savitri Devi Khurana?", Maan enquired at the reception of the hospital.
"She has been admitted in room no.315 sir.", the receptionist told him.
He made his way to the room in quick strides and was about to open the door when he heard an unknown voice, that of a lady's along with his grandmother's, chatting and giggling away.
He heard the lady speak or rather chide his grandmother in concern.
"But seriously dadimaa, I mean ma'am…", she said.
"You can call me dadimaa beta.", Savitri Devi said.
"Ok dadimaa, you should take good care of yourself. The doctor said that you haven't been having your blood pressure medicines of late. Aisa koi karta hai kya? You have to take good care of yourself. Aane dijiye apke pothe ko. I'll make sure to tell him how badly you've been neglecting your health.", she said.
"Yes, please advice her on taking better care of herself. By doing all this, not only does she suffer but makes me suffer as well.", Maan said entering the room.
Startled to hear someone speak out of the blue behind her, Geet turned around and came face to face with Maan.
Maan was surprised to see the lady who had bumped into him in Shimla, here.
"It's HER!", was the only thought going on in his mind.
"Toh aap hain Mr.Maan Singh Khurana?", Geet asked him with a smile.
Hearing her voice, he snapped out of his dazed state of mind.
"Huh? Umm…yes.", he replied, like he was in a trance.
"Are you sure you're Mr.Maan Khurana, 'cos you seem to take a lot of time just to confirm that?", Geet asked with a teasing smile.
Seeing her smile, Maan couldn't help but smile a little as well
"Yes, I can assure you that I am Maan.", he said with a slight laugh.
"Oh my God! Yeh kya ho raha hai? Is this really my Maan, my rooka sooka potha? Did he just smile and laugh? Hey Baghwan! Yeh toh kamaal ho gaya?", Savitri Devi thought to herself.
Being a typical grandmother who loves her grandchildren dearly, she had her own dreams of getting her eldest grandson Maan married off as soon as possible. And by looking at Maan and Geet together, the only thought that came to her mind was "Perfection personified!". She could already hear the shehnais and the dhols playing and could visualize them together as husband and wife in their wedding attire. "Oh! How I would love to see that one day!", she muttered to herself.
"Dadimaa….", Maan tried to talk to her.
"Dudho nahao puto phalo!", she said in a trance like state.
"Dadimaa?", Maan said, shaking her.
She broke out of her reverie. "Haan?", she asked.
"The doctor said that I can take you home. Come let's go.", Maan said, helping her out of the bed.
"Oh! Ok", she said, getting up while holding Maan's hand.
"Mr.Khurana", Geet said. "Here are the medicines the doctor has asked your grandmother to take". She handed him a cover of medicines.
"Thank you! How much is it?", he asked, reaching into the back pocket of his trousers to take out his wallet.
"Oh! No need for that. Just make sure you take good care of your grandma.", Geet said.
"And dadimaa, apna khyal rakhiyega.", she said with a smile and walked out of the room.
"Kitni achi ladki hai,hai na?", Dadima said, smiling at Geet's retreating figure.
"Haan….", Maan said, a little dazed. He still couldn't believe that he had again met the woman who had been occupying his thoughts of late.
"Waise, uss ladki ka naam kya hai?", he asked his grandmother, trying to not sound too curious.
"Oh no! I forgot to ask her her name!", Dadimaa exclaimed. " And I didn't even thank her properly, how rude of me!.
Seeing his grandmother getting all worked up he tried to assure her, "Don't worry dadimaa. If at all we do bump into her someday, we'll make it a point to thank her." , Maan said.
Although he managed to assure his grandmother, Maan was feeling a little restless.
"I don't know her name, neither did I thank her for bringing dadimaa to the hospital. I hope I get to meet her soon", he said to himself and guided his grandmother out of the hospital after paying all the bills.
