CHAPTER 3
Arnav began to feel restless. He looked up frustrated, and his eyes fell on Muskaan's photo. She barely had any teeth, and smiling from Khushi's arms. It was a ten years old photo.
Arnav, Khushi, the twins and their three-year-old daughter Muskaan were on a holiday. On Khushi's insistence, the happy family was sitting in a bus, and chattering away and ont their way to Agra. The bus came to a halt on the outskirts of Delhi, and the driver announced that this was a pitstop, and they would start for Agra after forty-five minutes.
Arnav and Khushi got off the bus to buy something for the children leaving them in the bus. After they left, Aditi told Adi that she 'had ta pee' and had gone in search of the washroom. Soon, Adi noticed his favourite cartoon poster and got off the bus leaving Muskaan alone.
Ten minutes later, Arnav and Khushi heard loud noises coming from outside the building. The asked a fellow customer, and were told that today was supposed to be political strike in the city, but this place had remained open and had been found out by the protesters.
Exchanging a worried glance, both hurried out of the building, and saw blazing fire. A large crowd was gathered around it, and closer inspection revealed that most of the people in the crowd were their co-passengers. As Arnav and Khushi drew closer to the burning form, they realized that it was the bus they had been travelling in. No sooner had the realization hit them, they had begun running around like crazed people, searching for their children.
Arnav found Aditi at the same time Khushi found Aditya; Aditi was behind hiding behind the newspaper stand in front of the washroom and Adi was rooted near his cartoon-poster, across Aditi. Aditi and Aditya had been crying.
"Aditi, beta where is Muskaan" Arnav asked desperately. Aditi shook her head slowly.
"Adi, where is Muskaan?" Khushi asked, half-sobbing.
Adi remained silent. Khushi was getting hysteric. "ADI! WHERE IS MUSKAAN!" she screamed holding Adi's shoulder and shaking him violently. Snapping out of his shock, Adi pointed towards the blazing bus with a shaking hand.
Arnav felt sick the moment Aditi shook her head. The nausea turned to shock. He was snapped out of it when he heard his wife scream. He turned around and saw Khushi running towards the blazing fire screaming. "MUSKAAN! NO! MUSKAAN!"
Just as she felt the heat of the fire touch her skin, she felt his hands around her pulling her back. "ARNAVJI LET GO! MY MUSKAAN! SHE IS INSIDE!"
"Khushi, please-" Arnav tried to soothe her, but he himself needed soothing.
"NO! NO! LET ME GO! MY baby...My poor baby...!" Her hair had come loose, and was flying in all directions. Her face was grey with smoke's soot, with tears streaking her cheeks, leaving clean traces on the grey of her cheeks.
"Khushi, sh-she is gone." He choked out the words.
"My poor Muskaan..." Khushi sobbed, giving in and falling brokenly against Arnav's chest.
Arnav could feel his shirt get wet with her tears, as much as he tried to hold back his tears unsuccessfully. Both their tears mixed, and soon, Khushi passed out.
Arnav called Aman, asking to arrange for a car. Arnav drove the car, with an uncoscious Khushi strapped in next to him and the twins in the back seat.
"Papa, I am sorry-" Adi started.
But one glare from Arnav, and a look at his Mother's face, he stopped and finally let out the sobs he had been holding back.
The car was in silence, as Arnav drove to the nearest hospital the in-built GPS of the car could guide him to.

Well, me and Anjali Bua are going to the orphanage today in the evening after college. Just to visit, you know. Bua wants me to take her to Mamma once, but... Well, I DID tell her everything...ALMOST. I didn't tell her about Mamma's health condition. I cannot possible take her there. And I am still confused over whether or not to tell Dad. I mean, how much are we gonna hide from him? He thinks that Me and Adi are mad at his cuz of the divorce. He doesn't know that Adi had actually seen them fight. In fact, in the entire house, only Me, Adi, Mausi and Dad know about the reason for the divorce. And Dad doesn't know that WE know and neither does Mom. Dad doesn't know about Mom's health either. And yeah, Mom only knows that we had found that file, but she does not know that we also got copy of the files contents. I am still not sure why Adi insisted for a copy! God only knows what my eccentric twin wants! It is annoying to keep changing the location of the file every week so Dad doesn't find it...I don't get what is the point of hiding from Dad...Dad coming to know the truth is better and maybe our family will be FAMILY again...? Well, boys will be boys...NO LOGIC! Dad doesn't know, and I still feel guilty for not telling him...Maybe I should tell him and not tell Adi I told him? But then Mom... Did I mention who are the ones who KNOW...? God! What a mess!
