Hushed whispers and frantic caresses. This was all they had and they needed to make the most of it.
As of now, time was of the essence.
- 20 -
"You can't leave me ... promise me. Promise me that you won't leave me. I'll die without you. Khushi please."
"Don't you see? I have to do this! I have to fight! I have to!"
"But doesn't all of this mean anything to you? Don't we mean anything to you?"
"Of course you do, Arnav. You know you do. Please. Please don't make this any more difficult than it already has to be. Please, just let me go!"
"I won't. I can't. You're not doing this, and that's final."
- 15 -
" I am doing this and you can't stop me, Arnav. I'm doing this for my country ... my homeland. You're being selfish!"
"Me? It's you who's being SELFISH! Can't you see? You won't achieve anything by this. Nothing will change and no-one will care ... except for me. You leave today and there'll be two corpses, Khushi."
"How? How can you do this?! How can you stop me?!"
"Because I LOVE you, dammit! Can't you see?! And I know you love me too, I can see it in your eyes, in each and every one of your gestures and in you wanting to desert me here today. I know it, I feel it, but you need to tell me. You have to. I can't ... won't let you go until you tell me."
An almost imperceptible shake of the head.
"So ... you ... you don't love me?"
"I ... I can't, Arnav. It goes against everything"
"I don't care. Tell me. Tell me that you love me, Khushi and I'll let you go. Tell me!" He gripped her shoulders and shook her hard.
"I ... I ..."
"Go on." he whispered, his voice cracking. He pulled and held her even closer, using his grip on her shoulders to do so.
"I ... lo-"
- 10 -
"FREEZE! I want both of you to stay exactly where you are! Do not move and do not attempt to flee - you have been surrounded."
A herd of armed officers came charging, tearing the two of them away from each other.
- 9 -
The two ill-fated lovers broke off, desperate for another chance ... one that would not be so cruelly snatched from them. If only ... if only they had met under different circumstances, as different people. Then nothing would have been like it was now.
- 8 -
"Arnav!" she screamed, silently praying to whoever would listen that she needed this chance. This chance to hold him close for one last time before they both had to separate again.
"Khushi!" he screamed, wanting to hold her close, bury himself in her cascading locks, smell that uniquely divine 'Khushi' smell just one last time, after which he could break away in peace.
They both reached out their hands, their fingers begging to touch, just once more, for the last time ...
"I love you too, Arnav! There's not much time! Please get away while you can! All of you! I'm armed with an explosive and it'll detonate any second now."
"I'm not leaving!"
- 7 -
"You have to! PLEASE! Just LEAVE!" she cried. Why didn't he understand? Didn't he see? He HAD to go! She couldn't just let him DIE.
- 6 -
"Officers! I want you all to withdraw now! She's armed and dangerous!"
"But what about the guy?"
A moment's hesitation.
"Leave him be. Everyone else, retreat!"
- 5 -
Together again ... finally. Just one last time.
Hushed whispers.
"I'm sorry, Arnav. I'm so, so sorry."
"Shhh." he whispered, "It's OK. We'll be together again soon."
- 4 -
Frantic caresses.
One last kiss.
He reached down while she tip-toed up. He softly pressed his mouth against hers, applying the lightest of pressure on her rosy lips. They both realised that this would be the last time that they would ever do this, and so it had to be perfect.
He silently kissed away the tears that fell, not wanting her to be sad or afraid of what was to come.
It was finally time.
- 3 -
A final confession.
"I have always loved you, Khushi ..."
"So have I, Arnav ..."
- 2 -
A final smirk from him.
One last watery smile from her.

"Dil Se"
"Dil Se"

High up in the terrains of Kashmir, there was a resounding explosion whose aftershocks could be felt from those way down below. All that could be seen in the surrounding area of the Sarwali Peak was debris, shrapnel and smatters of blood.
It was all that remained of an ill-fated love story ...
All that remained of Arnav and his Khushi.
~ FIN ~
Ohkaaay, hey there! đ
I recently watch Dil Se and the ending - surprise surprise - inspired this OS.
I hope you like it, and even if you don't I do hope you drop a comment. Even if it's just a small line saying, "nice", or "hated it", I will be the happiest person ever! đ
Again, I can only learn from critique, so please, if you see any errors, or you just didn't like it, do let me know, so I can improve for next time!
And yes, I'm pretty sure that there will be a next time, because I just CAN'T seem to stop writing these OS's! đđ
Well, until next time! đ
