Chapter 16

Giriraj was slightly irritated seeing the name of the person calling him, he had cut the call once, but still the person continued calling him. Finally he took the phone

"what do you want manyta?" he said irritated.

"un..un..uncle, I … i… found u…ud…udayveer"said manyta, between her sobs, her voice was broken.

The iron heart of giriraj melted on hearing the name of his long lost son."udayveer", his son, his heir. All his resentment towards manyta disappeared. His voice softened, he asked impatiently" where is my son, and beta are you ok"

"uncle, he.. he.. is in GHH hospital. i..i… am calling fr..from there"

"beta , even iam heading towards that hospital, but are you sure that the person you have found is udayveer?"

"doc..doctor says a DNA test would prove it, pl…please come soon"

"I will, beta. I will"

He told his driver to rush towards the hospital. He thought of calling unnathi. But unnathi was with uday's baba at the hospital. Should he tell avantika? No. not yet. He needed to be sure before he tells her anything. He had lost her once and he did not want to repeat it

He thought how an ordinary day like today turned to be so extraordinary

FLASHBACK

Unnathi had rushed to his study in the morning, and was saying something so angrily that he did not understand anything.

G:what did you say beta, I did not get you.

U:dad, I went today to see dada, and….

She told him the whole story of how she went to tell him of her mother's recovery and she had noticed how uday was sad and enquired what the problem was, she also told her dad that uday feared manyta would punish him. she wanted her dad to do something

U: dad, come with me na.

G: ok, dear you can be so irritating sometimes.

They both then left to uday's home. the door was open and the hall showed signs of struggle. Unnathi spotted uday's baba lying on the floor unconscious. She rushed towards him and shook him, there was no response. She grew tensed

"dad, he is not waking up" she grew tensed. Giriraj soon found out that uday was arrested in a fraud case And was presently in the police station. unnathi was angry

U: dad, I think bhabhi did this deliberately. Oh, now what do we do?

G: beta, you should take uday's father to the hospital, I will go to the police station and try to bring him out in bail. Don't manyta know it's against rajya darma to hurt innocent. Where are her morals. I should speak to her about this later

U: ok dad, hurry up.

Both of them left to do their respective tasks. Unnathi took uday's baba to the hospital, while giriraj went to the police station. On reaching over there he found out that uday was admitted in hospital. It was on his way to the hospital that he received a call from manyta. He was mad at her first, but now his mind was on another important thing. Was udayveer finally found? His mind was so peaceful after many years.

He rushed toward the entrance of the hospital, manyta was waiting for him, both of them then went to see udayveer.

G: beta, how did you find udayveer.

Manyta was still in tears

M: I saw his scar,

And again manyta began to cry, she really felt bad about what she did to uday. It was her stupid ego that made this matter worse. She hated herself.

They approached the ICU. Giriraj went inside. Manyta stood outside, unable to see uday in such a bad condition. More tears were shed. Giriraj approached the heavily bandaged body on the cot, the doctor approached him, he ignored the doctor and approached the bandaged figure. When he saw the face, he was shocked, uday. So uday was his son,his udayveer. But he needed to confirm it before anything, the feeling that flooded his body was so difficult to explain. He found peace. He asked the doctor

"doctor, how is my son?"

"sir, he has 3 broken ribs and his left hand is fractured, his body is badly bruised. It may take around a month or two for him to recover. The police really did cruel job. We should be glad that he is alive. but I must say that he is a fighter. "

"sir if you don't mind we can do the DNA test now?'

"ok, but make sure he gets the best treatment"

" sure sir"

Giriraj called unnathi, he was so happy today

U: hallo dad, did you get uday out in bail, is he alright?

G: beta, I found udayveer today. He said his voiced clouded with emotion.

Unathi was shocked, tears filled her eyes.

U: wh..what dad, you. Found. My. Dada? She said stressing each word

G: yes beta, uday itself is our udayveer

U: what!! Uday dada is my own dada, dad, but how, what about uday's baba?

G: I don't know beta, I am waiting for the results of the DNA test.

U: can I speak to him, please. She pleaded.

G: beta, he is not in a state to speak. He.. he is n the hospital.

G: he is now in the ICU.

U: he is still unconscious, doctors say there is no need to worry, can I come and see my dada?

G: ok, beta, but he is still unconscious

U: I will kill manyta for hurting my dada. Is she there?

G: yes, but I think she is truly sorry

U: no, dad, don't get carried over by her false tears. Ah!! My blood is boiling

G: no beta, I will inform her after the dna reports come, I don't want to lose her again.

Saying this she cut the call. She went to the duty nurse and gave her, her number and asked to call her if uday's "baba" becomes conscious. The nurse agreed. Unnathi then rushed outside to meet udayveer. Even if the reports turn to be negative and if he is not her own brother, uday dada will remain close to her heart. She wanted to give manyta a piece of her mind.

Unnathi was literally running towards the ICU, she wanted to see her dada. She saw manyta seated on one of the many chairs outside the ICU, but she totally ignored her. She went to giriraj and asked him about her dada. "go and see him" was the only reply giriraj gave. She then went to the ICU her steps slowed down as she saw her dada. She remembered the laughing face of uday, his carefree attitude, his affection towards her, and now here he was lying on a hospital bed totally beaten up and bruised. Why was god so cruel to her dada? She was ready to give up her life if it would bring back her dada. She could not saty there much longer so she left the place in a hurry

Giriraj and unnathi were waiting impatiently in dr kumar's room, for the DNA report to come. Finally Dr Kumar entered the room, a brown coloured envelope in his hands. Giriraj searched the doctor's face for some clue, but the doctor's face revealed nothing. Giriraj looked tensed.

Finally Dr kumar told giriraj
" the dna reports came,he is indeed udayveer. "

It was totally difficult to understand what went through in both giriraj's and unnathi's mind. Tears filled in giriraj's eyes. Finally his son was found. He was so happy, but at the same time depressed by the present state of his son. His son was in the ICU battling for his life. Wait, did not the doctor tell him that his son was a fighter? Yes he would be. Afterall it was in their blood. Fighting the impossible and achieving success was one of the qualities of being a royal.

unnathi was so angry at manyata. It was because of her unbearable ego that her dada was in the ICU. She left the doctor's room in a hurry and went towards the corridor that lead to the ICU where manyata was sitting, her eyes still filled with tears. Unnathi went in front of her and shouted

Manyta fely on her chair, she deserved this behavior, she deserved to be hated. Why!! If only she had controlled her ego. There was no use of crying over spilt milk now.

With great difficulty uday opened his eyes. The light from the room blinded him. His whole body was in fire. He looked and saw a middle aged lady looking at him with great affection.

"beta" the lady said.

Now was he in heaven? Or else who would this lady be?

"ma.." he whispered

Avantika stroked her son's cheek with great affection.

"sleep beta, you need rest. She said through her tear stained eyes. Finally she was given a second chance in life. She wanted to live for her children, to make up for the lost years she had spend unconscious. Her daughter unnathi who was just one year old was now a 17 year old girl. And her bubbly uday was finally back to their life, even though his face was badly bruised, she could make out the traces of her 5 year old son in this young man. she prayed to god to give her son a bright future.
