Chapter 8 - You were Always Mine

----The Flashback..

Mumbai,12 years back..

Fathers of both Khushi and Arnav were buddies in college.They were the best of friends.

When Arnav's Mom (Aaradhna Singh Raizada) died due to blood clotting in her heart,Arnav was 4 years old.

Shashi Gupta,Father of Khushi told Abhijit Singh Raizada that Arnav was young and needed a mothers comfort so he could leave Arnav with Garima,Khushi's Mom.

Garima had become a mother for the second time with Khushi being just 1 year old.

Abhijit Singh Raizada reluctantly agreed keeping in mind Arnav's best interests.

So,Arnav started living with Khushi and her family in Mumbai.

He became friends with Payal and Khushi instantly.Payal being the shy one used to keep a distance from Arnav but Khushi being THE KHUSHI-always the outgoing one became his best friend and confidante.

Time passed quickly and days became years.Arnav and Khushi became inseparable.They would do almost everything together.They would go to school together.Arnav would fight for Khushi and Payal.None dared to mess with the Gupta sisters.Arnav would help Khushi with her homework.They would water Arnav's plants together.Khushi would help her mother to make jalebis and Arnav would always fight with Khushi to have the first jalebi.They would sit together on the front porch playing,eating or mainly talking...

Khushi's parents would even say that one day Arnav would marry Khushi.This statement was planted in their mind.Khushi thought marriage was some fancy occasion.Arnav thought marriage was a business deal.Little did they know that one day they would fall in love.

One fateful day,Shashi Gupta received a call that It was now time for Arnav to come back to his father forever.Shashi understood Abhijit's feelings but at the same time felt pure fatherly sadness for Arnav.

Abhijit arrived in Mumbai city for taking Arnav back to Lucknow.

Arnav was happy and also very sad.Happy because he would now be staying with his father but sad because Khushi wont be staying with him.

On the day of Arnie's departure-

In one part of the house-

"Arnie what will I do if you go away back to Lucknow.No one in Mumbai comforts me like you do.?" A 11 year old Khushi complained to a 14 year old Arnav sitting on the front porch of the house.

"I will take you with me.Don't worry." Arnav said trying to look mature and arrogant in his own childish way.

"I can't come leaving Jiji,Mommy and Daddy." Khushi said in an uncertain tone.

"Hmm..But one day I will surely take you away from them.I promise.And that day you wont say no." Arnav said with an emotion of a mature person.

"But you will forget me Arnav." Khushi replied with a pout.

"I promise on your jalebis, i will never forget you." Arnav said with so much conviction that Khushi hugged him like a bear.

"Do you promise?" Arnav asked nervously.

"Come again?What did we have to promise about?" Khushi asked with a question mark.

"Khushi!!" Arnav yelled."You don't remember what you said now what will you remember me later.."

"Aww...i was just joking..." Khushi confirmed.

"Ok.Whatever the case I will never forget you and will remember you always even if you do forget me,which is very likely." Arnav said in promise.

With that Arnav hugged Khushi and Khushi relieved herself of some uncontrolled tears.

In another part of the same house.

Shashi Gupta along with his wife Garima Gupta were having tea with Abhijit Singh Raizada in the living room.

"Khushi and Arnav have become really close,Don't you think Shashi?" Abhijeet asked fondly.

"Yes They have become inseparable." Shashi confirmed honestly.

"So what would you say if I want to take this relation of friendship of ours to another level altogether?

Shashi was stunned.Garima was already having tears of joy in her eyes.

Shashi replied in a choked voice " You have really spoken my hearts contents.."

"I would love to welcome Khushi into my family ." Abhijeet said with purity in his eyes.

"But if they find someone else till the time they grow up.Then? " Shashi asked.

"If and only If they find some one else.For that we will have to keep them separate and not let them meet each other.I want to test their love for each other.If they succeed in keeping their love for each other intact then... My friend, I look forward to the wedding already.." Abhijeet replied with a twinkle in his eyes.

"I don't think we will be able to keep them apart for long."Shashi questioned with some doubt.

"Nah i am sending Arnav to London for his further studies.By the time he comes back they will be individuals with responsibilities.They shall decide for themselves."

"OK then Abhijeet.I will wait for the day you complete your promise." Shashi replied with love evident in his eyes.

"Ok.And now its the time to take Arnav away from Khushi." Abhijeet said not realising that at this moment Arnav had already promised Khushi of taking her away from her family one day...

"Love is missing someone whenever you are apart, but somehow feeling warm inside because you are close in heart."

Arnav left Khushi and went back to Lucknow with his Dad.

Lucknow,1 month later.

Arnav left for London.During this time Khushi forgot all about him.She being the younger one of the two mingled with the other kids and made new friends.

Arnav, on the other hand, felt as if he had left some part of him in Mumbai.He left for London with a motive-To come back fast.

There was not one day where Arnav did not miss Khushi.He would imagine her in every place.His love only grew stronger with each passing day.

When he came back from London,Arnav had grown into a Handsome Man-Every Girl's crush and every Boy's Envy- with a Degree in Fashion Designing ready to join his Father's Corporation.

He did not keep any contact with Khushi or her family as promised to his Dad when he left for London.

But the first thing when he came back to Lucknow was to know about Khushi and her whereabouts.

He was so excited to know that Khushi had come to Lucknow now forever.He resolved to make her realise the lost time between them.

On the other hand,Khushi was oblivious to the happenings in Arnav's world.She was the same bubbly and beautiful girl but now she was not very outspoken but had turned herself into a very graceful lady.Things had not much changed for her.She really did not remember Arnav at all.

But Arnav was hell-bent on finding Khushi.It was his mission to make Khushi his forever one day and he was not going to break his promise.

That's when he decided to follow Khushi from her house one day to know whether she was still the same KHUSHI he left behind.

The day in Khushi's life through arnav's eyes..

Arnav's POV

I saw the Gupta house door open and out came an angelic vision.My world stopped.Literally.The surroundings were blurred.Everything seemed fuzzy.

I was so lost in her that I forgot that I must not be seen by her.The pink dress worn by her looked pale in comparison to her glowing face and sweet personality.

I saw her approaching the mandir to Pray to her Favorite God.-Devi Maiyya.Typical Khushi.

Then she had taken the Bus-No 9 to the Lucknow station.I followed her in the bus and took the seat behind her.She sat there popping channa into her mouth.Typical Khushi.

We both got down at the station.At the station Khushi met her friend and they both went to Happy Tea Stall for their daily snacks.Khushi bit on a juicy jalebi.Typical Khushi.

Then Khushi screamed while looking at something.Her friend screamed.Arnav was terrorized but he immediately laughed out loud looking at the Salman Khan New movie poster both the girls were ogling at.Typical Khushi.

Then he followed her into the train and stood next to the door from where he could see her directly sitting next to the window.She was talking animatedly to her friend.Typical Khushi.

I was so caught up in the beauty of her smile, I did not realise that Khushi's Station had come.That's when he heard a small..."Excuse me." I turned to see that Khushi was looking at him.

Whoosh i could feel the blood rising in my ears...That small interaction had left so much love in my heart...

I moved out of the way.But followed her till the college gates where I saw that NK was giving her a BIG HUG.NOT SO TYPICAL KHUSHI.

Ok.NK is my cousin.But she does not know that.
'NK i think you have some deal with me now',I thought of catching up with NK later on..

I returned back to the station resolving to make Khushi realize that he was back in her life.It was upto her to accept him.If she didn't he would be like a lost ship and if she did accept him back then his life would be complete.

I have a plan.

For that Khushi has to willingly fall in love with me.

He would wait for her everyday at the same bench.He could see that she would steal some glances at him.This would make him resolve harder for Khushi's love.One day..One day Khushi you will be mine..

----Flashback ends.
