TS : Best Buddies

Part 2 :

Red : Khushi

Light Green : Arnav

Black : Narrator

"Hey Khush!" I heard him calling my name.
"Hey Arnie!" I replied and he soon joined me on the way of our ground.
"Be away from Shantanu" he said. "Whaaayyy??" I almost shouted. I looked around to find everyone staring at me. "Sorry!" I muttered under my breathe and we started walking again.
"Because he is saying he is gonna propose you…" he said making a face.
"Grr… Khudka chehra dekha hai kya kabhi? What do he think of himself. Ask him to study first! Failure kahin ka! 6 subjects me se 2 me fail hai! Failure!"

OMG! What's her problem? His failure or his proposal? I kept thinking about it and didn't knew she was gone far away from me.
"Arnie! Are you planning to stay there forever?" I heard irritated voice of hers.
"Coming Khush!" I replied and went to her.

"I am gonna miss you so much Khush!"
"Me too Arnie! Thnak you for everything Arnie. You are my best friend from the day one. Thank you so much whatever you did for me. Thank you so much!"
"Yaar tu to senti ho gayi! Lets go home!" he said patting her cheeks.

"Okie Arnie! Meet ya tomorrow. Come soon to pick me up." I said in my usual tone. We were standing in front of my house, me and Arnie.
[CENTER]"Are you insane Khush?" And suddenly I remembered it was the last day of our school! He won't be coming to pick me up to school. We won't be laughing at anything, shouting, fighting, throwing our stuffs at each other, eating from one plate from tomorrow. My eyes welled up with tears. I blinked my eyes to stop them from pouring down the cheeks.
"Oh! I forgot! Bye Arnie! All the best for exams." I managed to utter these words and went inside crying. I couldn't stop crying. I'll be missing him now! I lied down on my bed and covered myself with the quilt. I couldn't sleep whole night. I'll be missing him! His smirk, the half smile, his brown eyes, his voice! I'll be missing him!

"Same to you Khush! Good night!" I replied with a sad voice. She went running inside her home. I lead out a sigh and made my way to my home. I'll be missing her!
We had been walking for half an hour talking about random things. I was hell tired. I wanted to fall in the bed and sleep but I don't know why, but I couldn't sleep. Her thoughts were wandering in my mind. Her smile, her cuteness, her innocence, the mischievous glint in her eyes! I'll be missing her!

Finally our exams have started! First 2 papers were awesome! This will be last time for me to go to school. I still remember how much tensed I was on my very first day in the school. Thank god I was given the place next to Arnie! He is my bestest buddy ever! I don't know where is he these days! I saw him in the school on the first day of exams but we both were in such a rush that we didn't even greeted each other! It was indeed SO BAD! I tried to ask for a forgiveness on the second paper but I didn't get him anywhere. I think he was already seated in his classroom. We both had different classrooms as our exam halls. I went to his room after the paper but there was none in the class.

OH EM JEEE!!! Arnie's dad was no more! I heard this news from mom today only. I was back after my science paper today and mom told me this. This was so sad. He had cancer! That's why I couldn't find Arnie at last paper. He have missed two papers.
"Mom! Can I go to his home?" I asked mom.
"No Khushi! He passed away two days ago. I didn't tell you 'coz I thought you will get distracted from your studies." I was stunned!
"Mom please!" I asked her once again.
"You can call them. But I can't allow you to go to his home Beta! Its not good for a child of your age!" she said trying to console ME!
"But what about ARNAV?" I shouted! "He is of same age as mine mom! How he must be feeling now? Can't you understand mom? He needs me now! I'll have to go!" I said once again trying to go out of the house but she protested me.
"I'm calling them. You will talk to him on phone! You are not going to him home" And that's it! I had to listen to her.

Mom told me that Arnie had dropped his two papers and will be continuing the exam from next paper. I was feeling so sad for him. He was so close to his father! Mom told me that he denied to talk to anyone and has been sitting in his room from the morning. I so wanted to go and hug him and console him. He is a very reserved guy. I won't open up in front of everyone. I worry, how will he ace the problems now? I want to go to his home!

Soon our results were declared and as usual, I had topped the school. But the only difference was, it wasn't Arnie who was next to me while receiving the results. As expected, he had failed in two subjects and had topped in all other subjects.
He still isn't trying to talk to me. He never receives my calls, never replies to my messages. I was dying day by day. I was eager to meet him. I wanted to talk to him.

It has been 3 months from dad's death. Me and mom are trying to get normal. We are trying to be happy, trying to live without him.
[CENTER]Also, it has been 3 months since I talked to Khush! I was so sad throughout the exams so didn't want to meet her. I was aware of my results, and hence, I didn't go to receive them. I don't want anybody's sympathies. I know, I will open up in front of Khush and I don't want the same! I don't want to cry in front of her.

Finally! Me, Khushi Gupta, was stepping into a new life. College life! Still, I am missing Arnie besides me. I am missing how we used to wander in the school for no reasons. He never came on phone when I called his mom. I don't know what's his problem! I'll have to do something!

and he hasnt been taking her calls
why as he knows he will break down in front of her
he so needs her but wont go to her
