What Made Agneepath such a success? well, Until Salman Khan's 'Ek Tha Tiger' was released on 2012 Independence Day Agneepath broke the highest opening day collections record in India and became a major critical and commercial success with a worldwide gross of 193 crore (US$34.93 million). Agneepath is a definitely a "super hit" type of movie. Since then Agneepath has emerged as one of the highest grossing films of all time in Bollywood. Unlike many movies we know which carried high expectation and deep was the fall Agneepath is certainly a promise that fulfills itself!
The 2012 Agneepath is a remake of the very famous and successful 1990 movie starring Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role and Danny Denzongpa. That made the challenge of getting through Amitabh Bachchan's trademark role really tough, but as Priyanka Chopra who essays the character of Kaali, said in one of the film's promotional events, "Making the 2012 Agneepath never felt as a remake since it had its own individuality… maybe that was one of the reasons why the 2012 movie became so successful.
However, above all, it is the Hrithik Roshan factor. What more can we say about this brilliant actor besides that everything he touches turns into pure gold. Starting with "Kaho Na ..Pyar Hai" via "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara","Jodhaa Akbar" to Agneepath and the list is just a sample of his capabilities to demonstrate his contribution to make the film stand by its own.
Hrithik Roshan completely redefines Vijay Dinanath Chauhan and never in his act can you sense even a glimpse of the original. Roshan is one of those actors that you can never get enough of.
Eventually Agneepath has made it big time by transcending the 1990 obstacle and more importantly, delivering a high quality Action-Drama movie to us Bollywood Lovers!
